Apologies for the big pics and formatting on my previous post in response to pennylover. I couldn't get just the link URLs to post and obviously I can't format my replies very well, either.

AT first the Idea of "NO WILL" shocked me and even made me think, are u kidding me with all you own and made. But then I recall tons of interviews and his own beliefs, it would not shock me if he had no will, some are saying "he knew he was dieing" or "something was wrong with his health" well that is most likely true but then there would have some sort of "rush" to get the house in order do u think? I would say YES but then again I think of what he believed, this is someone who on numerous occasions "that in the end money had no meaning". IF its true and No will was drawn up, it will be on those in question to do what they will do, I don't think in many respects, money was any concern of Prince, his music was. When some one dies it exposes greed in others and just flat out bad behavior, I think he knew that, and even WHEN you have a will drawn up people fight it, and take it to court, in this respect, who is going to fight without any direction given? When Michael Hutchence died in 1997 he had a will and 30 million, every single family member from his mom to his dad to his sister and brother fought this out and in the end with legal fees, his estate was down to under 5. If this becomes a circus so be it, but the reality is with NO RULES outside of laws, no one can really argue here, it is almost like his sister holds the cards now. Will's take ages to come out - like someone posted earlier the death cert has to come back first. Not sure why but there must be a reason for it. MJ's cert took weeks, so did Whitney's.. this will not be any different. He might be stomping his heels in frustration up there Whatever you heard about me is true

The photos shouldn't have been taken in the first place. She looks really rough. She looks like she needs a week's sleep. But... Good grief she could have waited to open that bag of Cheetos until she got out of there. The bag is open. She'd must have been snacking while picking-up the ashes. It's an open bag of Cheetos in her hands. You know, they're not poking out of the top of her purse, ready to be eaten later - they're in her hands. It's just too weird to me. I should get some sleep myself.

She has two bags of Cheetos in her hands. She was really about to go in once she go into that car. I would hope she wasn't actually just chomping down on Cheetos as they were handing her the urn. I agree with you though...she has a very large handbag she could have put them in until she got into the car but grief clouds better judgment sometimes. Glad they covered his ashes with a jacket instead of flashing it for all to see. Prince Rogers Nelson

There's an awful lot of projecting going on in this thread. So what if she has that in her hand. For all we know she was up all night, hadn't eaten all night and day (because she was grieving), someone handed that to her just before she got out the door so she had something to eat and then snap the photo is taken. It can be viewed in lots of ways.
Who cares anyway? Most of us are fans trying to celebrate the life of a man for whom a lot of rubbish was printed in the press. And here we are judging her and the family based on...you guessed it something in the press. Seeing as we're all throwing out theories: maybe P didn't care about a will because once your gone you're gone and what you have while alive cannot be taken any further. I'm not religious but I think there's a verse akin to this. Something to do with the eye of a needle... [Edited 4/26/16 15:15pm]

There is just way too much looking at every single step a person makes during these times, I almost wish they'd shut cameras out all together, but in respect to Prince I think they did this all super quick because it would be a circus and the family friends and fans really kept it from being a circus out there. "It would be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven." Matthew 19:24 ---still one of my favorite Bible verses
I just don't care who gets his money...I just want them to respect his legacy and the music he left behind becaus his music was like his children. If they cared about his money more than him, than that's really sad and it's their souls that will be tarnished in the end.

One possibly relevant point here is that, unlike some states, Minnesota does not recognize an unwitnessed will as valid, even if it is entirely in the testator's handwriting. On the other hand, Minnesota does recognize a will as valid if it was valid in the state of execution when it was executed. From the Minnesota Statutes: 524.2-502 EXECUTION; WITNESSED WILLS. Except as provided in sections 524.2-506 and 524.2-513, a will must be: (1) in writing; (2) signed by the testator or in the testator's name by some other individual in the testator's conscious presence and by the testator's direction or signed by the testator's conservator pursuant to a court order under section 524.5-411; and (3) signed by at least two individuals, each of whom signed within a reasonable time after witnessing either the signing of the will as described in clause (2) or the testator's acknowledgment of that signature or acknowledgment of the will. 524.2-506 CHOICE OF LAW AS TO EXECUTION. A written will is valid if executed in compliance with section 524.2-502 or if its execution complies with the law at the time of execution of the place where the will is executed, or of the law of the place where at the time of execution or at the time of death the testator is domiciled, has a place of abode or is a national. 524.2-513 SEPARATE WRITING IDENTIFYING BEQUEST OF TANGIBLE PROPERTY. A will may refer to a written statement or list to dispose of items of tangible personal property not otherwise specifically disposed of by the will, other than money and coin collections, and property used in trade or business. To be admissible under this section as evidence of the intended disposition, the writing must be referred to in the will, must be either in the handwriting of the testator or be signed by the testator, and must describe the items and the devisees with reasonable certainty. The writing may be referred to as one to be in existence at the time of the testator's death; it may be prepared before or after the execution of the will; it may be altered by the testator after its preparation; and it may be a writing which has no significance apart from its effect upon the dispositions made by the will. A writing may include multiple writings and if an item of tangible personal property is disposed of to different persons by different writings, the most recent writing controls the disposition of the item. So, unless Prince executed a will outside the state of Minnesota, it would have to have been witnessed. The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.
