This whole Tidal thing is bollocks. I don't want to have to pay a monthly subscription to continue to be able to listen to things - I want to buy them, once.

I agree that he should make it available for purchase. However selling music isn't really working these days. Nobody sells alot of music in 2015. New times mister.

"New times" my arse, that's got nothing to do with it. Streaming is useless to me.

Useless to you, but 99% are streaming now. But I agree, atleast downloadable it should be. But too many physical copies is a waste of money to make. The production cost, the environment cost etc...

I don't get the hate on streaming. It's $10 a month. Imagine that you're buying 1 magical cd every month that gives you access to tens of thousands of albums.

Indeed. Downloads are fine. Streaming is useless to those of us who live in remote rural areas with patchy or non-existent internet access. I need to get things onto my iPod, or they're no use to me. Tidal, therefore, is no use to me.

Agree. I can stream at work and home, but most of my music listening and enjoyment comes from driving through the countryside pulling the funky face.

Actually, one nice thing about Tidal (from what I've read - I'm not a subscriber) is that you can download music so you don't have to stream at all times. So I'm assuming (again, I haven't tried it) that you could listen to your downloaded music via a Bluetooth set-up in your car - which would save you some data usage when you're not on WiFi. (I'd never stream over 4G - waaaaayyyyyy too much of a data suck.)

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I think we all should support Tidal since it's Prince's platform of choice. I think he'd do better to stream concerts there on a regular basis. I honestly already have his entire catalog, so Tidal has nothing for me, other than the new album which is, definitely not my cup of tea, so again Tidal has nothing for me. Purple Pick Of The Week, is an interesting idea, but I have zero reason to believe Prince will put anything there for those of us who like his classic sound, so again Tidal has nothing for me. But, um, yeah, we should all sign up right away and give Prince our support, in case he might put something good up there, or ya' know, pull all the shit on a whim like he did Spoitify and NPGMusicClub before it.

For someone who constantly preaches about the value of ownership of your music, this entire Tidal thing strikes me as hypocritical and I refuse to go down this road with him. I've been burned too many times in the past by Prince's half assed internet club scams - remember the $75 Prince NPG Club that we had to sign up for to get his album (forget which one), but they promised a download of the Album, T-Shirt, access to exclusive music videos including concert footage and first access to Tour tickets.

The only thing he followed through on was the downloadable Album. They never followed through on anything else and he shut the club down 4 months later - after he took our money. So I paid $75 for the album (I'm thinking it was the one before 3121).

The only thing I like about Tidal is it looks like there are a lot of rare Prince albums on there that I never heard of and would love to listen to, but nope. Not doing it, even if there's a "free" trial.

you're wrong. It has plenty 4 ya, including his 'Indifference' video...And you can now listen to Sign of the Times nd all the old recordings in HI-FI... it sounds TERRIFIC!!! It would be great if he put his old videos on Tidal in Hi-FI

I'm fine with paying $10 a month if they indeed release new tunes... I mean I spend that one lunch or at Starbucks 3 cups of Tea...so what's $10 a month really to support great music...

useless to you, but apparently the providers of streaming music have data that says different. These are new times for most people with regard to how they consume music.

I might not be on topic with the thread, but this HitNRun album was good. Not great.

Stand out tracks to me:

Ain't About to Stop,

X'sFace (favorite-could be a club banger)

Hardrocklover (listening to it with good speakers made all the difference in the world than when I first heard this song released)

Mr.Nelson (crazy beats)

X's&O's,

June (probably my favorite. Classic song)

This Could be Us was my favorite on his last cd, but he ruined it on this one.

Yes, and then the company goes belly up and the music you spent 100s of dollars on over the course of a couple of years is gone, never to be heard again, with nothing to show for the money you spent. I would prefer a physical copy, or a download, so that at least in 5 yars I can still groove to the music.

You do realize that the album has already leaked, don't you? lol Releasing an album exclusively on TIDAL isn't gonna prevent that from happening.

Honestly, the sound quality for Tidal High Fidelity is significantly improved with great headphones. As compared to the 320 KBPS CD rips I have on MP3.

never paid 4 radio.

But I did buy blank tapes, & either bought or borrowed an album & recorded it..

miss those days..

But back then, them albums was slammin!!!!!!!

Today, it all sounds thin, like it was made by the very laptop I'm using to type this....

That aint music..

Where are the maxi singles like "America"(20 minutes long), "U Got The Look"(long look), PopLife(remix extended version), etc....??

Samples are sampled from real music, so it means real music can still be made...

I'm happy about this, I'm having trouble joining up though.

There are ways to capture this music and save it. The sad reality of that is you can count on eye records to relases "Purple Picks of the Week Vol 1" sometime this fall.

Just like the audio shows were sold by Optimum.

It is going to be very interesting to see if we actually get something of merit in these weekly releases or just more remixes here and there. I would like to see him drop something from the vault that nobody is aware of, something that is NOT listed on princevault, and also, not reworked in any way.
