Rave (both versions!) is one of my most frequently listens to albums. I don't like the Time. Breakfast Can Wait is one of my favorite Prince songs. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

Around The World In A Day is a somewhat boring album.A few great tunes, but it's no masterpiece.

The Black Album is one of my least favorites by Prince. I should've listened when he said not to buy it.

Yep, TBA is by far his weakest 80s album and possibly even the weakest of the 90s, if you put it there. But Bob George and Rock Hard put it above The Rainbow Children and MPLSound, which I rank as his two lowest. (TRC would be a great instrumental album, but I can't stand the misogynistic, degrading, and obnoxious lyrical content). "Love & honesty, peace & harmony"

I agree but only to a point. I also feel that "Rock Hard..." is the highlight of TBA (along with "When 2 R In Love"), but I love TRC. I can't get on board with everything he says and the narration can be grating at times, but the lyrics don't derail the entire experience for me.

I like the Black Album, but I don't think it's this great, big, amazing masterpiece that many others claim that it is.It's undeniably funky, but it has a' throwaway' feel to it.At that point in his career, these type of songs were too 'easy' for Prince and I think even he realized that.

you all are posting the popular opinion of this album, which is not so hot in most Prince fan's opinions on the org. But for this thread, about personal unpopular opinions, I'm saying just the opposite, it is his strongest most cohesive interesting all the way through album for me. The Black Album that is. Neither do I. I've always been a Prince fan in spite of Purple Rain, not because of it.

Which version of "We Can Funk" though? Any of them. I think I've heard three versions. What makes you like it? I reckon that I'd get more out of it if it were much longer, paradoxical as that may seem. 'We Can Funk' for me has the feel of a meandering, open-ended jam, the kind that lasts 10 minutes or more. Perhaps its (relatively) shorter run-time is the problem. Who knows? Another one that I've seen mentioned here is 'Anna Stesia'. That's another song that is almost universally praised, yet which I don't think very much of. I like it in the context of the 'Lovesexy' song cycle, but not once have I had the urge to listen to it on its own.

It's a common criticism of the album, but since I don't have a copy I've never known what people are referring to.

Are you kidding? The Black Album is loved by most fans.Whenever we do those 'Lovesexy vs.TBA' threads,TBA always seems to get the most love.

Slow Love and It aren't filler on SOTT. Controversy is a stronger album than Dirty Mind, even if it's not as consistent. Cutting Emancipation down to a single disc still wouldn't make it a great album. The Rainbow Children is weaksauce. Weak lyrics and all, I love Lemon Crush. The groove is so good. I even imagine a music video of Joker-Prince chasing Kim Basinger around Arkham Asylum.

I don't hate "We Gets Up"
I'm not a fan of the middle range, nasal vocals that dominate Sign O the Times until Adore.
