I think we're getting to the point where folks are competing with each other about who can say the craziest thing.

I think the minute someone says, "I prefer Apollonia's vocals/persona over Vanity's", we'll officially be there eek

OK...you asked for it....I love the Dez/Andre era....Although I own it on LP/cassette/CD, I can't listen to any of the music from "Purple Rain"..I love the unreleased songs by him from 1985-86....I hate the "Come" record..worst thing he's ever put out..."Planet Earth" isn't too far behind...Although a lot of fans love the "Gold" era, I thought (even back then) he sunk to a low point in his career..He was on top of the world 10 years before and everything was the complete opposite in 1994....Wasn't crazy about the "Rave" record..I thought he was trying too hard to be modern and accepted by radio...I wish the "Rainbow Children" CD was instrumental....I was a little disappointed with P and Larry Graham's collabos..I was expecting some real hard funk from them..it seems they both watered each other down....I dig the 3rd Eye project..most different and exciting thing he's done in a while.

i agree with everything except 3rdeyegirl...the only thing that saved the Come lp for me was Letitgo, and the last 2 1/2 minutes of Come

I just saw D'Angelo play tonight in DC. He and his band SLAUGHTER anything Prince could dream of doing these days. He makes Prince look like a flaccid old chump.

I hope so. He is half Prince's age and should have more energy and drive to be the best he can be. Prince is Prince. He laid the blueprint for D'Angelo. D is super talented and he is at a point in his career to show that he can be a legend Prince is already there. I love D'Angelo and Prince I hope D keeps killing it.

Wish he'd play more piano than the guitar his shows.

Wish he'd write more instrumental songs.

COME is better than a lot of his other acclaimed albums.

I 100% agree with all this. I listen to NEWS more than some of his 80's stuff. His command of instruments is unreal. I would love a piano only album from him that would be dope.

Fuck yeah. (If I had a time machine and could see Prince in 1986, I'd be singing a different tune.)

If Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic came out now, people would go crazy for it, call it a return to form, and praise Prince's ability to write great melodies again.

Prince has some amazing gems in the vault, but not dozens and dozens of albums' worth of quality material. He probably has about 4-6 albums' worth of truly great unreleased songs. The rest (that we've heard) is filler or not nearly as good as the stuff he has released.

I bought the two Prince comic books as a joke but ended up enjoying them.

I never listen to bootlegs of the Purple Rain tour because I find them boring and stiff compared to his other 80's tours.

I don't get all the fuss over The Gold Experience. It's very good, but people here worship it. Not me.

I wish Prince would stop talking to the media again.

After Prince, MJ is my next favorite artist so I wish he'd done the Bad duet.

I kinda wish he stuck to his guns and released The Black Album in '88 instead of Lovesexy.

Black Sweat is awesome and should've been the first single instead of Te Amo.

Call My Name is one of his best ballads, especially lyrically.

chill..prince doesnt like men being front row, makes it hard to sing the ballads

Exactly! 18 and Over, Acknowledge Me, Now, U Know (kinda rapping), Days O' Wild, Face Down, etc. I like his hip hop influenced songs and I don't even mind Tony M. I thought Gangsta Glam was pretty good.

Seriously. I don't totally agree with RJ, but it IS a good album and it had everything that made the boy "Prince" already in it. He just needed to develop it.

In my 11+ years on the org, I've never seen anyone say For You is Prince's best album.
