Prince vs Off The Wall is a great battle...Off The Wall only had one song i would skip..."Girlfriend"...only song id skip on "Prince", is "Still Waiting"...and the 2 songs are even similar...tough call, but Prince wins, again
[Edited 7/5/15 7:42am]

I don't get why the two are compared.
Off The Wall is a record from a musician who has been in the
music industry for years. Prince is a newbie.

I think "Sign O' the Times" doesn't rank in his top 5 albums, or maybe his top 10 albums. It's great compared to other artists but not great compared to other things Prince has done.

Okay, I'd be remiss if I didn't ask, what's on your top 10 list?

There's not a weak track on Prince, there are a couple on Off The Wall.

No deal, just looked in the mirror one day and realized I was.

ahaha you donĀ“t get to realize that just by looking yourself in the mirror.

Well, let's see. This list is subject to change from time to time but right now I like:

1. Purple Rain
2. 20Ten
3. Musicology
4. PlectrumElectrum
5. 1999
6. Controversy
7. Sign O' the Times
8. Chaos and Disorder
9. Lotu$flower
10. Planet Earth

I'm showing total respect. Art is subjective. Ask Prince which of his songs are his favorites and he'll say "I love all my children".

Then we'd have to ask him why communication broke down with Darling Nikki, Sister, head etc. Clearly he favours some of his children.

I don't like "I Would Die 4 U," and it's the only song I skip on Purple Rain.

I loved this song in 1984 but for some reason,it doesn't do much for me nowadays shrug

"Let's Go Crazy","Computer Blue",and "When Doves Cry" still sound fresh and vital music the other songs on the album? Not so much

The 00's were his best decade for ballads.

HIs second album (1979) is superior to MJ's Off The Wall (unpopular?)

Diamonds & Pearls is inferior to MJ's Dangerous, 1991 (unpopular?)

I'm gay.

No way, Off The Wall is a better album.

Well I see otff the wall as a quincy album. An album of a Vet.

Prince is a sophomore effort...pure and simple. One of these best pure sophomore efforts out there.

Ain't no way Off The Wall compares to Prince.

Prince would not achieve musical adulthood before "1999".

We're talking Quincy Jones, and Michael in its vocal prime.

Prince, for all the beauty of its early falsettos, sings like shit on its eponym album,
when compared to "Don't Stop" or "Rock With You", just to mention the most obvious ones.

And I'm a huge Prince fan, BELIEVE ME.
But this is going too far.
Off The Wall is a masterpiece, "Prince" is a butterfly's chrysalid.

First two tracks on each album, score draw. But there's no weak song on "Prince" such as MJ's "I Can't Help It" or "She's Out Of My Life". Although I'd say "Still Waiting" is one of the few songs by Prince I've changed my mind about, having grown on me quite a bit.

Gone Too Soon is a better song and some people hate on that too. For me the melody just goes round in circles.

Sign o' the times is Prince's last great album.
It's a shame he put out the wrong 2nd single & didn't tour in the U.S.
Prince stopped the tour because his album fell fast.
Ironically, that was all his fault.

"Sign O The Times" is the last Prince album I really loved.

The "Lovesexy" album leaves me cold, although most of side 1 is pretty good.

I've never liked "Adore" at all.

I thought "AOA" were both equally dreadful.

Aside from a few, his album covers are almost all embarassingly bad.

Two unusual opinions of mine:

The Gold Experience is bland.

I don't get why nobody seems to like My Name Is Prince - totally funny tongue-in-cheeck, yet still groovy.

I really dislike 'The One.' I think it's one of the least inspired, most by the numbers Prince 'love jams' of all time.
