Your unpopular opinions Where does your taste differ from most other Prince fans'? I can think of two which apply to me: -'We Can Funk' does nothing for me, whereas I know a lot of people here love it. -I think 'Come' is a lot better than 'The Gold Experience'. Obviously these aren't the most contoversial opinions in the world (I'm not saying 'Planet Earth' is better than 'Purple Rain' for example), but I'm interested to know what ideas you have about Prince that get people jumping down your throat. | |

i think 'For You' is P's best album...and "My Love Is Forever" is his greatest song of alltime...
id rather see him reunite with Dez and Andre than wendy & Lisa...
i didnt/dont like The Gold Experience...
i always thought Jill Jones was his undisputed most beautiful girlfrend/protege...

I'm quite keen on the song Graffiti Bridge. It's like the final song from a camp stage musical with all the cast singing their bit. It wasn't instant but I was drawn in by its uniqueness and initially unpredictable melody.
Edit. You should listen to We Can Funk on repeat until it gets you. It's one of my current all time faves. [Edited 6/24/15 15:01pm] ----------

SOTT is a masterpiece. But it's impossible for outside fans who doesn't know who Prince is to understand that album at all. Critics hails it, we hail it. But the music is just too complicated to ever compete with BAD or You Can Dance/True Blue in mass popularity. Also another unpopular opinion, SOTT record sales sucked. And as stated before, a damn shame. | |

My favorite album is "Black Album"
I think Prince has improved as a song composer over the years (although his production, arrangements, and lyrics can be really half baked these days or even quarter baked in a few cases). But the melodies and variations get better and better at the core.

I skip Housequake. I think Rainbow Children is light years ahead of Purple Rain. I actually think Under the Cherry moon was a decent movie (caveat: Christopher Nolan is my favorite director). I Wish U Heaven is in my top 10 favorite Prince songs. His Parade era was his best fashion period. | |
