This is atrocious. Pure fucking garbage. This song is as "art official" as music gets. Time for the NPG Operator to announce Prince is dead again.

As I think everyone knows already, the background music is "Blinded" by Mila J.

seems like most of the tracks on both projects are heavily influenced by women,

either through taking their music (U Know), covering their songs (Another Love),

having them guest on the songs (Rita Ora, Lianna LaHavas, Andy Allo) or being

in the band (3EG). there's even talk of a female rapper on "Boytrouble". And the

video for Breakfast Can Wait was directed by a young woman. Ledisi was on the

"Aint Gon Miss U" track, which is probably an outtake from AOA.

/

no wonder it took so long to get anything out. how many women is he talking to

and working with these days? and he's trying to make us believe he doesn't own

a cellphone lol

Fuck!!!!! I listened to and fell in love with the song Anotherlove at paisley park. Now I can indeed confirm its a cover of an alive smith song. Damn.

It's a nice enough song - not quite "filler" but also not "single" either. It's got some clever bits and standard Prince elements. It's definitely a PRINCE song and not something trying to be otherwise. .

.

Having said that, the main detractor (to me) is how digital it sounds including his voice. That might be the intention of this album though -- to be a stark contrast to the analog-recorded PlectrumElectrum.

.

Quick summary: it's a smoother version of Incense & Candles crossed with the Adam & Eve remix of TGRES sprinkled with a bit of NPGMC download.

I love Incense and Candles and hate this song, so I guess I don't get the comparisons.

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

That is unprecedented. There's sampling and there's this...

I'll defend it, it's just a three note loop. Scaffolding for the lyrics and melody. Hardly "unprecedented."

didn't he basically take a few of Sandra St Victor's songs for emancipation

and then just run with them? lol

Who cares if it's someone elses groove, though? "The Greatest Romance Ever Sold" relies heavily on Craig Mack's "Flava In Ya Ear", to the point where Flava producer Easy Mo Bee lists the song in his own production discography! This isn't anything new.

this isnt the output of someone who hasn't put out a full-length CD in four or five years (if oyu want to count a CD that never hit American shores).

This is someone putting out substandard shit to get his masters back, a la Chaos and Disorder (except that one was at least a cool listen in parts).

I really like this one. I think it's strange that Prince has sampled such a large amount of another artists music, though. Prince has in the past (to my knowledge) only ever sampled in small amounts, such as the James brown bit on 'Gett Off'.

I like the chorus a lot, but I gotta agree with some of the people here. I've been saying this a lot, I'm not keen on Prince using auto tune on his voice. He doesn't need it.

that's what I fear that it will be an album with only slow jams/downtempo songs, still I like what I hear so far except BCW

Mila's a lifelong Prince fan, by the way, who also goes by the name "Japollonia" in reference to her half-Japanese ancestry. Her sister is a well known singer too, Jhene Aiko. They are both pretty hot right now, Jhene does a bunch of stuff with Drake. Mila was in the "Diamonds & Pearls" video too.

Are you sure Prince wasn't the originator? He's a producer also...and gives away alot of his stuff...think about it.

I like Clouds, Breakdown and Breakfast but not liking U Know at all, so lets see what the other unheard tracks bring. We'll hopefully end up with a few decent songs between the 2 albums and not too many stinkers

Prince trying to become relevant to the teen/20+ crowd.

There was quirky Prince, there was even weird Prince, and there was innovative Prince.

This is none of these. This is Prince who has been fawned after by a bunch of yea-sayers.

When he worked with Wendy & Lisa, they had him listen to Stravinsky, Miles, Coltrane and the Beatles.

These people now try to get him to listen to today's dreck, and he went one step further and allows tem to produce.

Abysmal effort... so far.

Thank God for Adonis & Bathsheeba which tanks all of this.

If this song is any indication of the rest of the album then this will be an embarrassing footnote to a brilliant career.

This could be the Daddy Pop of this era. Horrific.

BTW, I like Clouds and Breakdown.

Probably in the same sense as "P Control" or "Face Down" are satirical takes on hiphop. It's Prince taking elements that do not really belong in his own music and making something that he himself (apparently) digs out of them.

Eh, he's been doing that since "Under The Cherry Moon" iif you think about it.

This song is just balls. Sweaty, sticky, swampy, shitty balls. AOA is shaping up to be the worst Prince album. Worse than NPS. At least he had the decency to try to pretend he didn't lay the NPS turd. Is it too late to credit AOA to the NPG?

I don't think the problem is people expecting Prince to be innovative. He hasn't been innovative since Lovesexy, but he's had plenty of great songs since then. The problem is Prince should create music that isn't fucking godawful. I never thought Mr. Goodnight would sound good. I guess the bar can always get lower.

I wish he could release this album in a newspaper just like 20ten. It belongs in a newspaper...so people can roll it up and toss it out like the steaming dog poo it is.

I was almost a victim of the "30 second vice".

I didn't care for the autotune part, but the rest is cool. It's got vibe, and sometimes that's good enough.

Walking alone in the dark, I see nothing u see
I can be in a park, or flying in the…in the deep sea
I wish u’d hold my hand; then everything could b
There’s nothing strange, we’re not deranged
We only want everyday 2 b a Cosmic Day
