Aw shit! Prince...this is somebody else's song you're using. Damn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mila J...son of a b----

I was so impressed at first. What is P doing? Has he lost it?

P could have just had her producer make him another beat!

as we all know Prince likes to do things he's never done before. Sampling another artist's instrumental is a first for him unless i'm mistaken. He was probably tempted to do it once after 30 years of creating original music

[Edited 9/1/14 8:43am]

He used samples from Tower of Power for "Release it". And there are more samples in other songs like "Gett Off" or "7".

I like this. Not what I expect from Prince, but getting the unexpected can be nice....sometimes. It's not classic Prince, but it's something I wouldn't skip on an album........

I don't have any issues with the sample... as long as it shows up in the album credits!!!

I love it, hated it on the first listen but it grew on me by the second listen. Same with Clouds. I am so excited for this album love the rnb grooves of Clouds BCW and U Know. I'm kinda confused on why he sampled, he's just being hypocritical doing that. But it's a damn good sample. I won't be surprised if this song makes it on urban radio, Prince is making fresh music it deserves to get airplay!

Hoping it grows on me but I'll wait for the whole album to listen again. At the moment I have Jughead on repeat in an attempt to purge U Know. In about 40 minutes I'll be ready to move up to Horny Pony.

lol Really it's not THAT bad

Just what I needed to hold me over til the 30th. I'm actually getting more amped for Plectrum with this track. I dig the other songs I've heard from Art better, but I like the beat even though I guess it's someone else's. I knew with the title that the hook was gonna go something like this. U know how much I care. Lazy arse. Not too awful, I guess. Still gonna cop it.

For all time I am with you, you are with me.

The more that the fans hate this song, the bigger this will be a hit with general audience lol.

Yes, Prince has had dozens of big hits since 2009...no, since 2006...uh since 2004...uh since 1999...nope, uh ummmm since 1997? Try ONE top 40 hit in 1995, and don't forget that "1999" re-entered the Top 40 in 1998/99 at #40. So in the last NINETEEN EFFIN years, we are talking One Top 40 hit.

He's done with the charts....get over it. Now if someone would tell Prince to stop chasing hits, and NOT use Auto Tune, we'd all be better off.

Put your hands together
No, like this
Surprise, suprise
Another treat, another trick
This is sweet
Which one’s which

For the record, let me state
That I never had a reason to
Break contractually or sever
Relationship with anyone I pleasure

For the playa, let me stop and say-a
That I only paid attention when
When I heard you mention that
He tried to take your treasure
Oh no he didn’t

And as a matter of fact
I would have gave you back
But then he had a heart attack
When you made him pack
And said his shack without you would be better

See, what I really mean

See, what I really mean
Is that our future queen
Should never be in frustulation
With this rock and roll machine
Oh no not ever

Yeah, you know
What

You know how much I want you
You know how much I care
When he gone, he know I’m gonna flaunt you
You know, you know, you know

You know how much I want you
You know how much I care
When he gone, he know I’m gonna flaunt you
You know, you know, you know

If you really wanna find the answer
To this Cancer, then we must rewind
Then nevermind the first opinion
You better act surprised

To run this game requires fame
You stole a name and nothing gained
Unless you sacrifice my dear
It’s only claim for his dominion

And any question of the deal
Is met with another demand to kneel
And reprimand concealed allegations of you sinning

That’s why
Feminine wiles are not surprised
In recognizing that the power of the breasts
Is just a test that you’ll be winning

You know how much I want you
You know how much I care
When he gone, he know I’m gonna flaunt you
You know, you know, you know

You know how much I want you
You know how much I care
When he gone, he know I’m gonna flaunt you
You know, you know, you know

You know how much I want you
You know how much I care
When he gone, he know I’m gonna flaunt you
You know, you know

Nice!!! That's a great album track. It's a good sign that it had me bobbing my head, smiling, and grooving on first listen. I wouldn't say it's a single or radio song, but that's totally fine.

This album is looking up. I'm psyched to hear it. And honestly, I'm satisfied now with the number of previews and early releases/singles. This can tide me over until the album release date.

After repeated listens, I think I like it more than Clouds and Breakdown, if only because my taste tends toward sparer, weirder Prince. All of these songs are growing on me, though, and all benefit from multiple listens. AOA may not be the album I wanted (hard funk) but I'm open to pleasant surprise and discovery. I think the production (lazers and smurf voices included) sounds great, say what anyone will about Josh.

He used a lot of high pitch voices on SOTT when being Camille

I like is Camille stuff but back then he used to be more raunchy

Obviously as the years have gone on he has toned it down

Opinions must not really be welcome then. I want to buy it, but if I didn't want to buy it, I would feel free to share my opinion. This site is again too full of people who are either too positive or too negative, and can't seem to live with knowing that there is room for debate and differing opinions than yours. Sad.

All these years.....

He should've never done the Batman project. He hung on with his "style" with Batdance, but it was muddled with hollywood voice samples of Bruce Wayne, Joker, etc. Pure 100% outside obvious influence. Then, Graffiti Bridge was a muddle of all over the place, introducing the New Jack Swing stuff that was not-Prince. Prince tries to rap....not Prince.

Then Diamonds and Pearls, ruined by rapping, Prince talking/trying to rap more. Hip hop

On and on and on....only seen him with outside influences that are blatantly revealed in the music.

All the way to this latest U KNOW.

Please Prince, stop talking. Stop rapping.

Actually, don't do interviews (that's talking).

I really just want to hear your singing.

I really just want to hear your good sense of song structure and rhyming in good cadence, not bad rhyming like George Michael's rhyming also has been bad since Listen Without Prejudice.

Why does Prince go on line after line on a duldrum groove.

It's funky aftershow club material YES!!

But not for an album track.

Lovesexy was the last real Prince thing.

Prince was really in control at that time.

Just thoughts!!

Of course I love Prince.

I think all this boring music is building for something to come much later than now.

I'm excited still!

with U. Wonder the age of the people who hate it n the people who like it. Twitter ("youngins") like it. Facebook (older) don't. As someone said earlier "the more it is hated here, the more the general public is going to like it.

Played it for my 19 and 26 year olds. Both don't like it. And my daughter likes eveything I don't like.

Like I said, if it's a hit for him, more power to him. My old ass will sit back and wait for the PR remaster that will hopefully have bonus tracks.

lol

I did listen to Clouds, this thread has grown pretty quickly so my passing mention was easy to miss. I mentioned back in reply #145 that after listening to this track I had to listen to Clouds. That one really didn't grab me but neither did it repulse me. I have 0 hype for this album as I don't like Breakfast Can Wait either sad.

I usually find that I love at least half of most Prince albums, even the recent stuff, and can usually take or leave the rest of the tracks. The last album track that I hated and can't listen to was Sea Of Eveyrthing. I'm hoping the rest of AOA bring some nice surprises on the 29th but considering the success rate so far it's not looking good for me with this disc.

I might give them another go later when everyone else is asleep. But then again my crying might wake everybody up! lol

RIP sad

Love the futuristic style. This track has many layers & is a grower. I love freaky Prince & would love a whole album in this style. This can be added 2 F.U.N.K.,3121, Ain't Gon Miss U & Ol' Skool Company to make a FutureFunk EP!!

I like Clouds, it twists and turns a bit and has a nice little signature guitar solo. Also like Breakdown and Breakfast Can Wait but U Know is a stinker and not keen on What It Feels Like (if it's the same song he done with Andy Allo) either so see what the rest is like...
.
I'd say I also like 50% of his recent albums (whereas it used to be around 90%) so I'll end up making a playlist out the 2 albums and left overs like Groovy Potential, Da Bourgeoisie etc

I love it.

Part of me is struggling with how much of the song is built on the sample, but I can't deny it's got a certain vibe I'm liking.

4/4 for me with The breakdown still leading the pack.
