The prospect of new music is good, provided it's available in tangible format & the fact that 2 albums are being released increases the likelihood that there will be a decent track or two in the mix. However, news of an anniversary edition of Purple Rain would have been just as welcome, if not more so.

okay? do you think the general public knows who 3EG is? most people were sitting there going: "i thought this was supposed to be a Prince announcement... where's Prince?!" when it shows a picture of Prince on the promos and says its a mega-announcement from Prince, people expect an APPEARANCE, not just some lame brief announcement without any performance or even a single played as the show goes to commercial. they were literally playing music that referenced Prince in the lyrics, not even actual Prince music (some lame song that said "I wanna kiss you like Prince" or something to that effect). come on, if you think this is good promotion you're kidding yourself. just look at twitter.

And I doubt their minds are blown. Prince has 2 new albums to promote & he can't be bothered to do so himself on national television? If that's his level of interest, you can imagine how little listeners will likely have. These projects will flop, as per usual.

Without reading anything about it, I didn't even expect Prince to be there. I was expecting the girls because it's a boring morning show, a little media training for the 3EG. Whatever you were expecting, it wouldn't have changed anything because GMA just isn't the place to do a big launch. It can work if he books many such events, slow drip style.

I don't care for 5 of the songs on Art whatever it is already. The mega announcement did nothing for me.
And, I haven't liked a single 3EG song released.

I do think it's great Prince is releasing new material again, though. Even if I don't like it, there will be people who do. And, that's a good thing.

Look, I haven't watched it yet, but if it was just the 3 girls, then it was a waste of time. You'd have to be crazy to think that some old Prince fan who hasn't bothered with him since 1995 is going to know or care who these girls are. Now if it was Wendy & Lisa, maybe a few would know, but if we do know one thing:

If people want to buy either PLECTRUM ELECTRUM or ART OFFICIAL AGE, they know where to buy it and when it will be available for purchase at retail. What more do you want?
