Not sure if I'm more angry that Prince was a no show or that I had to watch 2 hours of Good Morning America.

So it looks like both albums are with WB. WB have started the promotion, first stop GMA. They spent coin on a branded set and announced the MEGA news statement, the girls show up, Prince does not. Prince has fallen out with WB me thinks.

I read the description of that GMA episode on the abc website on the weekend, it said 'announcement from 3rd eye girl'. no mention of Prince at all, so not surprised he wasn't there. Likely he never intended to be and that was all agreed and understood beforehand. If GMA were only able to offer a 30 second segment he may not have wanted to bother. If there's more promotion to be done in the run up to the actual release date, like a live performance, surely he'll be happier to oblige.

He seems to be cultivating the perception of musician first, interviewee and tv subject a distant second. I think it works for him.

As for the albums, I'll buy both, probably just after the release date when their readily available, I'm looking fwd to hearing them.

Well GMA descripition is still pretty vague. It doesn't say Prince will not be there. We don't know if Prince will also come or not. He does surprise visits like he did on the view a few years ago.

I actually learned something during the interview...I now realize that I've never heard the names of the girls in the band spoken out loud--I've only read them...I learned that Ms. Nielsen's first name is pronounced "Ee-da" (and not "I-da" as I've assumed)...

(and apparently it's not "three-urd ee-yee jurl" either)

what a disappointment-- no Prince appearance, no Prince performance, no Prince nothing. he should have performed, sat down for an interview, and made the announcement himself with the girls by his side. but that's just not how prince rolls nowadays. he sends the girls as his proxy for a 2min long segment where they announce two albums that were already announced and reported last night, no new single played (except VERY faintly in the background, you couldn't hear it). bunch of hype for nothing. no tour, and still no mention of the purple rain reissue. i wouldn't be surprised if prince canceled the reissue.

That's what he used to do with Wendy and Lisa. Twenty years from know people on a Prince fan site will insist that Donna, Hannah and Ida wrote all his music

No they won't. His time with Wendy & Lisa & Susannah is much diff from this now

Taking over Times Square is easy if you've got the money. It's just like when Sony PAYS to take over Times Square for advertising. Relevance has nothing to do with it. It's pure PR budget.
