Wow! Not so much the announcement but that Prince took over both "Good Morning America" and Times Square - and he wasn't even there!

If anyone was wondering whether Prince is still "relevant", wonder no more. I don't know anyone that has had the entire set of a major morning television show re-branded with their logo like that. Without even being there.

I thought it was rather silly then, too. But at least it had the benefit of being unique and mysterious for the era. Today I thought it was just redundant.

Since the invention of the internet, nothing lives up to the hype anymore. Why I refuse to believe that and continue to be lured in, I'll never know. It was the same thing with the VMA's last night, hyping up a phenomenal show, when it was just like all others, no big deal!

I agree that it didn't live up to the hype. But actually, there was no hype from GMA until the last hour of the show. They didn't mention it all that I saw during the first hour.

Prince should have been there. The girls are not that media-savvy. When the hostess asked, "What can we expect?" and the only answer she got was "Everything!", man that fell really flat.

But again, my point is that Prince is still a heck of a draw. Did you see all the signage? Wow, someone went to a LOT of effort on that.

And Prince was all over Times square, on every single video board I could see. I can imagine there may have been some money paid for that. I wonder by who?

WB likely, which probably explains why Prince wasn't there, in a really dumb sort of way.

It looks like WB is definitely kicking in on the promoting.

That could possibly work sales-wise. I really do hope that the re-masters are not contingent on the success of this, though. IJS!

I know I've been saying for months that he was going to pimp the memory of Purple Rain to gain our attention so that he could instead push weak new product on us, but even I didn't think he was going to actually fucking do it. Well, yeah, just as long as he's on the planet he'll show up somewhere, given his social circle every once in a while it'll be prominent, but that doesn't do me any good. I love him though and he'll get a dime or two out of me, just ain't jumping through hoops to give it to him at this period and time.
