Wow. How photoshopped can you get? This is really starting to get ridiculous. Act your age, said the song.

A market is about Offer and Demand. I don't see where the heck is the latter.

Ummm.. yeah Im sure Prince is sitting behind a computer everyday photoshopping all o his photos. Because its not standard practice done with just about any celebrity whether 50 or 20.. ::sarcasm off:: Change it one more time..

Well, I'll leave you to your dreamland of "standard practices", sorry if I interrupted your corporate world digestion.
But we're getting OT.
Thruth is, no one gives a shit about P anymore. He's like the funny uncle who knows a few magic tricks, he's great to invite from time to time, but by the end of the evening he's starting to annoy everyone with his manners.
"U Got The Look" for Revlon? Seriously? What dumb Madison Avenue prick would pick up the nose-pinched squeals of Camille to be associated with a million dollar advertising campaign? Can't you even get the song right? "a whole hour just to make up your face": he's making fun of the woman, man!
Everytime I hear those TV introduction speeches: "He's a Legend! He's a multiplatinum Genius!", it makes me think of Greta Garbo. Yeah, she had some respect for her Glory Days. But in the end no one would want her back on a movie set, everyone was fed up.
And so it is with his latest announcement: "I'm my own Alpha and Omega now".
Yup.
I'll indeed leave you to your "standard" world, where no food gets unprocessed, where Photoshop reigns supreme, and where rare talent gets wasted in smoke and mirrors.

Nobody cares anymore about Prince anymore, yet YOU are here you are arguing about Prince on a fan site. Contradict your self much? And just about every photo used for promotional purposes is retouched at some level or another. To think otherwise is to be delusional. Change it one more time..

I think he's saying his popularity has seriously diminished.
There r 2 people somewhere on the Internets at this very moment participating in a forum and arguing about Kenny loggins next move. And seriously...no one gives a shit about Mr Loggins besides his family, friends and maaaaybe extended family. [Edited 4/14/14 17:32pm]

I agree wholeheartedly with your first statement.. but Prince could fart and Billboard, Rolling Stone, Spin, Vibe and any other music outlet will still write a story about it. So obviously the industry and a great deal of the public still cares about him in some regard or another. If Kenny Loggins brought his publishing inhouse Im pretty sure not even his 5 fans would have heard about it. Change it one more time..

why you so mean to Kenny Loggins??

thedoorkeeper said: why you so mean to Kenny Loggins?? I did type but deleted Michael McDonald...thought of Michael Bolton but remember the Katy Perry bit. I was just making a point that just cuz someone's in a web sight talking/debating/arguing about someone's goings-on doesn't indicate people give a shit about them. Those two do...but not generally. I bring up prince to my friends family and acquaintances, and not many, if any...give a shit. We find a some news cuz we're, as fan(addicts)[get it fanatics...fan-addicts...he he,lol],are looking for a lot of news. Most give little regard to the little amount of new that encounter by chance. In feel its easy for people to project the impact of out little fanworld onto the impact outside our fanworld. [Edited 4/14/14 19:10pm]

I never read a story about prince's farts. So are you saying that prince doesn't have enough gas? That'd give the lyrics to Little Red Corvette a totally different meaning. Hmmm... [Edited 4/14/14 20:56pm]

Not relevant.
Bankrolled by WB, and not relevant.
Not relevant.
Not relevant.
The one that isn't open to other artists anymore because it wasn't profitable? The one where Prince demanded lower taxes for?
That's a success?
What odd restrictions. And again: not relevant.
Ah, so that's why record companies are lining up around the block to work with him, and why so many of his post-WB songs have been covered over and over again after becomign huge hits. Oh wait, none of that happened. © Bart Van Hemelen

Like I said, the likes of Fugazi have done this since the 1980s. Nothing revolutionary about this.
And Prince has? How about ACCESS to their art? Shouldn't fans be able to buy P's art? If you agree, please inform me where I can purchase The Truth. Or The Chocolate Invasion. Note that you cannot refer to second-hand shops, since these do not allow artists to profit from the sales of their works. © Bart Van Hemelen

. And you think Joe Schmoe has heard about this? This is a press release reported on by a website who spends all day doing so. NOBODY CARES. Gotta love famz who think this was front page news in all of the entertainment media. . The only thing this does is make it harder for the industry to find him. Instead of contacting one of the major publishing houses they now have to add NPG MP to their address book and deal with whatever rinky-dink operation that will turn out to be whenever someone requires some info on using a P track. . This move doesn't make sense when there's demand because the costs of running your own organisation dealing with all those requests far outweighs the costs of having someone else deal with them; and it doesn't make sense when demand is low because that's the time said organisation needs to work pro-actively and actually pimp your shit to others. . I just love the opinions of famz who think Warner Chappell and Universal were ripping P off by daring to take a fee whenever they handled his licensing. FYI 50% of a lot is still a lot, 100% of nothing is still nothing. © Bart Van Hemelen

...and Steve Jobs wasn't that great a guitarist/ singer, etc. So what? Admitedly, if Prince was to float himself on the stock markets I wouldn't be first to subscribe to the IPO but it's hardly important.

Not relevant because they don't fit into your, rather one dimensional, take on Prince's career (that you don't care about)?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Dude, I already agreed with BobGeorge, take a chill pill. And I honestly don't care how it turns out for Prince tbh, I just find following his career interesting. Like him or hate him, compared to most of the artists that I listen to his life is much more interesting than all of them combined. If only for how unpredictable, contradictory and unique (or strange) he is. Change it one more time..

Whether or not this is directly related to the publishing news, I heard a radio commercial yesterday that featured Prince music. . It was for some sort of sex or sex-enhancing product, but the background music was The Greatest Romance Ever Sold - The Adam & Eve Remix (music only, no vocals).

Another big year of major moves in the muziq industry for Prince. Eye'm proud of him! will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.

You'd have to be absolutely bonkers to think that Prince doesn't have a very solid plan and reasons behind doing this. So I wait with anticipation and wish him luck in this venture. |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yes, we are bonkers by that definition. An idea he does have, for sure. He wants control. Cut out the middlemen. Maybe even earn some cash. But a plan OTOH is something diffferent. Best that could happen is that he hires a group of skilled people to execute a well described task. But I doubt that will happen.
Sure. Sure. But: How many people experienced with collecting publising fees does the US have? How many would be available for a job offer by mr Prince? Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Sure. Sure. But: How many people experienced with collecting publising fees does the US have? How many would be available for a job offer by mr Prince? Our country may behave foolishly...but it doesn't mean we have nothing but fools populating it. There's many a jobless degree holders who are BEGGING for employment...internships even. The huge changes in the music industry creates openings for new, fresh minds in the field, able to devise new, fresh, methods for revenue. Record sales are a shrinking source. Its literally insane to sell and sell and sell records expecting the same results. Ch-ch-ch-changes!

You'd have to be absolutely bonkers to think that any of Prince's plans and reasons were based in reality and had any chance for success.
I mean, really. You have been paying attention for the past 20 years, haven't you?

HrevorAyer said: so basically ... prince sold out! .. now we are gonna hear his songs on shitty tv shows .. crappy hollywood garbage movies and crappy car comercials .. yay I don't see this as having comprimised Queens art. Some call it selling out... I call it making money from shit u done did. Some 15 y/o hears this commercial while making a car whish list and is inspired. Unlike the occasions he heard its terrible renditions by marching bands at his high schools football games. Takes note and downloads it at iTunes at his next visit. He puts it on his 'first solo drive' playlist. They've sold out with the very first contract or YouTube view or soundscan tick. The damn point of making records is to sell them...if the store 'sells out' of em ure fuckin lucky. Arts free and all...I get it....UNTILL ITS SOLD. which prince has HAPPILY been doing since before '78. And been on the prowl for new inventive ways to sell it. Sell out...lol...IF URE FUCKIN LUCKY.
