The more I listen to the lyrics, it doesn't sound like he wrote all of them. For some reason they remind me of "LOL" lyrically. Am I the only one that hears that? They are very Oprah-ish. I wonder if he watched last season's Iyanla Fix My Life?

That's what I thought on first listen: sounds like someone else wrote it ala LOL or he collaborated with someone else on the lyrics...

As bad as the lyrics are in ALL of the recent tunes, it would be nice to hear a well crafted song that didn't sound like he lost interested half way through writing it... this track is another prime example, a verse, a (sort of) chorus ... then it resorts to an empty 'funk jam' that sounds like its been tacked on in 5 minutes.

I'm happy with the song, heard it a hundred times and if Prince decides 2 sell it thru www.3rdeyegirl.com I'll purchase it right away.

Co-sign. I'm in love with the song. And iTunes is a nice option to have, but I'd just rather get it straight from the 3EG site. cool

Man when I visit the org and read comments regarding new music I sure am glad I've been blessed to still thoroughly enjoy and get excited about new music from this man. He's a legend. He's still making new music (much of it being some really great music) after all these years and damn its good. No it ain't Purple Rain, nor was anything after 84. It's new music from an artist that has constantly been providing quality jams since 1979. It's an awesome journey and to still be on this train after all these years constantly being surprised and energized by ones mans music is a truly blessing.

#FIXURLIFEUP on a scale from 1-10 is an 11.

Love it and can't wait to hear more! Especially LIVE in a tiny venue when he could sell out 4 nights in a huge stadium. Awesomeness!

So you don't like his first album from 1978?

It's only about 03:12 too long.

Flash Gordon intros included, this is utter pish.

What the fuck is he on about? Has he been watching South Park on acid or something? Hands behind ya back Kenny? in London you're toast? You always get the treatment blah? Jog on pixie, what a lot of bollocks. neutral

The tune is catchy. I like pretty much everything about the song. The chorus, the ending... its creative, playful. The lyrics don't make me cringe. I'll buy it.

Change it one more time..

Southpark & Kenny are superb.

Are you on acid yourself?

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

I have to agree. The chorus is a little lazy after giving a somewhat decent verse. Same thing he has done many times. Planet Earth comes to mind, with its no-melody chorus.

Anyway, I don't hate this song, but that autopilot aspect keeps me from loving it.

The song is great. Kinda of like a not too distant of "dolphin". The most catchy of all of the new 3rdeyegirl era stuff. Cannot wait for the album.

V10LETBLUES

The thing for me is I get into the groove then all of a sudden the lyrical delivery becomes a bit jarring. Intentionally or not, it kinda takes me out of it. But overall I think it's a good track over all.

I like this direction better than the recent MPLSOUND or 20ten sound. It's a bit more mature and less like going through the motions or pandering.

I think that's what bothers me most about it. It isn't the music, which is pretty good, if rather disjointed, or the lazy/corny lyrics.

It's the vocal delivery. It feels tired and lazy. I had the same problem with Cause & Effect. This one doesn't suffer from the multi-tracked vocals on a pop-rock song thing that that one does, but I get the same feeling from his delivery.

Omg , all the criticism once again.....
This song has all the ingredients that Prince is about, there's nothing lazy about it, or him sounding bored or whatever...
Wow people, really ???
But it's cool if u don't like it,
I love it !!

Just listened to it. Well it's different. Not sure if it's good, but it's different. Lyrics are piss poor as usual (seriously Prince grow the fuck up, even the girls are too old to be singing about this shit) and seem full of teen angst. Embarrassing frankly.

But as I said, it's different. I like his new guitar sound as of late as I find his stock sound (fucking Boss) naff. Repetition had bred a lot of contempt and very little joy. The new wave/pub rock sound is quite nice for a change and seems to be forcing him to play a little differently (yes I know he'll never be more than a step away from his beloved flanger). Of course the best thing about it is he can't use the whammy-bar. THANK YOU GOD!!!

With that in mind I like the way he still pretends to use his whammy bar on the Guitar video despite holding a guitar that doesn't have one. My goodness he's almost like Andrew Ridgley back on Top of the Pops.

Great to hear Prince embracing his raw rock side. I like the chord progression base and the rough sound to the chorus line. With the added guitar solo...I think while it won't hit the heights of a Prince classic, it shows a promising return to the kind of Prince music I like to listen to....ROCK.

It is a slight bit better than Purple And Gold...not much. I hope that he tries harder with the songwriting next time.
