It's ok.

The difference between this one and a few of his previous ones, is this one is instantly rememberable, whether you like it or not. I instantly remembered the tune, so the second time, I know where the chorus was, and how it was going to go---his old songs used to do that.

I do get some sense that we're about to receive a very Rock oriented album, beyond that of Lotsuflow3r or C&D.

Prince, is going full tilt for guitar god status here.

i mean "you need to fix your life up"? really lol i think if i had 2 failed

who used to care and my mind changed like the leaves on the trees,

yes, perhaps then i'd need to "fix up [my] life"

Ooooooooh! Don't hold back now! lol

Just heard the new single

I would say this sounds like a proper single unlike the previous releases

I didnt like Screwdriver at all but I like this - its got some structure

Sounds like the Stones/Beatles when he sings the Title but he certainly rocks out

Great Stuff

I used to love this song, but since I know that he just ripped off another artist without giving credit I can't listen to it anymore. Not really being fair here. Sure Prince is an ass for getting all pissed when people remake his songs or take his ideas. Prince should have credited Miriam Makeba as a co-writer. Even the way he says "No Responsibility," is almost the same. So "Mind" is more of a remake just like "Crimson And Clover." Still, it has enough of his own ideas in it to not be a full rip off. So I like the song, but some of my love for it is taken away, but to never listen to it again? That's crazy.

different type of song, the changes seem strange but thats just the 1st listen; will have to listen couple more times again to see what I think....

it's definitely not my typical response to a new Prince song and probably because I like the funk/dance more than this type of rock. cool

Thank you for calling me crazy.

I feel similar about planet earth by the way, although he only copied the chorus from Barry Manilow's "Could it be magic". It just shows that he's not inspired enough to create great melodies anymore. And that's a little sad.

Sorry, not the intro, the chorus. They play the chorus just after the intro before it goes into the verse.

I am surprised at how sloppy this song is. I think prince playing drums himself would have given it a more cohesive feel than this and I find prince on drums to be terribly clunky lately. I am really not digging the new drummer. The only interesting part of this song musically sounds lifted from The Future off of Batman. The guitar is playing that spooky keyboard line. The Future is a far superior song tho. I would agree with everyone finding the lyrics to FULU horrible. As are all the musical changes that come after the "future" rip. THe sped up slop at the end is very bad too. This is perhaps Prince sloppiest band ever. I agree with the sentiment of the song. There are plenty of people who just spoil themselves silly to the point of their life being a huge decrepid mess of gluttony. Prince included. And those people need to be slapped. However this song belongs in the garbage along with other halmark catch phrase songs like .. objects in the mirror .. that just seem so uninspired and going thru the motions. Wanting an all girl guitar band does not mean you can just pick people off the internet and come up with anything worthwhile .. this is like prince having a flashy guitar that makes him look cool but never stays in tune. All flash and no substance. Hey there is another catchy phrase prince can turn into a bad song. AFANS! Another song I am happy I did not buy on a cd I will never listen too. More proof that prince can't rock the guitar proper and should go back to drum machines and ripping off lisas lyric ideas. It is what prince does best. He ought to fix his band up! and his songs! And ... wait for it ... his pajamas!! DAMN!

Socrates challenged to think for yourself in stead of mindlessly following the crowd.

Socrates enforced people to find a logical system of thinking, motivated to find the truty, in stead of following lazy assumptions.

I don't understand why that still relevant theme should not be a theme in a song.

Not that I think that Prince was thinking of Socrates when he wrote these lyrics.

But, the song really is about that theme.

Why do people disregard the lyrics of this song?

I really don't get that.

Maybe because I don't just follow the purple crowd.

Guitar god status? The riffs are much too unoriginal, just a little bit more distorted than usual.

I happen to like this a lot.

It's fresh, energised and quirky.

I appreciate Prince continuing with the (slightly garage) rock sound and that these tracks are quite raw and not at all over-produced.

The more I listen to the lyrics, it doesn't sound like he wrote all of them. For some reason they remind me of "LOL" lyrically. Am I the only one that hears that? They are very Oprah-ish. I wonder if he watched last season's Iyanla Fix My Life?

Finally one that actually sounds good. The others this year have been bland as hell. He should have sung in his signature falsetto on this one to give it that Prince "sassiness" with a scream or two but it still sounds good.

Nice, grungy sounding tune.

Not quite sure what he's getting at in the America/London comparison...different ways of looking at things perhaps?!

Interesting lyrical nod to Pink Floyd's 'The Wall'.

Quite like the kind of spiritual/self helpy/motivational message of his lyrics of late.

On the whole pretty cool....needs to be put on the site as a download for sure or saved for the album.

No, you aren't the only one who hears it - hence my comment about "the trite leading the trite." It's the same kind of touchy-feely pabulum in evidence on Planet Urf. Further proof he's been hanging out 20-something women way too much - not that he's ever been what you would call a deep thinker.

Great Stuff

oh no, eek

.

Please, don't compare this new Prince "crap" song to: the Beatles. lol

.

It does not deserve that.

.

I never liked the former single "Rock N Roll Love Affair". 1/5

.

(RnRLA "Remix 7", this was a little better.. I have to give that)

.

"Screwdriver" was an improovement. 3/5

.

"FixUrLifeUp" however, is another lowpoint, it is such an "empty" song, there's no melody, and where's the great sound ? It's only a polished "surface", Prince can do so much better, I still hope that, at least.

.

This new song gets from me: 0/5

.

After all Prince used to be the "King of Sexual Funk". He used to be the leader, I am expecting more from him than this "Fix.." song... Oh, no.. I am not feeling this at all. What a "strange song" this is. confused

.

Hopefully the new Prince album (in case this will ever see the light of day?), has more to offer.

.

I like about 4-5 of the new songs (Remix7, Screwdriver, Breakfast Can Wait, Same Page Different Book, Boyfriend),

.

there's still some hope for a new "good" Prince album. My finges are still crossed for that. wink
