stillwaiting has a point here. I've seen the car that poor Eric Leeds (for example) was driving back in 2003 when he was at Paisley meeting with Prince. It was more of a junker than my current car is, and Eric has played on many, many high-selling Prince releases. Not to single Eric out or anything, but Prince is well known to be cheap as hell. To say otherwise just proves that you haven't been a fan for very long or haven't been paying attention.

yeah good find ... except all his new tunes sound like knock offs of his old tunes .. he's filled that rnb ballad slot with the same cookie cutter song a bizillion times .. weak white funk slot .. bambi wannabe slot .. crappy days o wild gett off rap slot .. must eye go on or shall u all stick to reality

I even love the long sludgy part in the middle, where it gets thick and almost like Krautrocky. It's a stone cold groove -- could be 10 minutes longer and I'd still be into it.

We're really lucky to be getting these 'rehearsal' tracks. One of the cool things about this version of Let's Go Crazy is that it was presumably recorded in one take. Usually artists don't throw out these kinda tracks unless they are demos or live stuff -- this seems like the best of both. You get the live version from a soundboard, and he's not playing to 17,000. And since Prince has kind of a history of sabotaging good songs with bad production, hearing the music with NO production sounds great to my ears. He could do an album filled with any of his old material and, if he took this kind of approach, I'd be in heaven.

Hard to tell what's going on -- the material he's thrown out over the past couple months alone (this vs. "Boyfriend" vs. remixes vs. "Same Page" vs. "That Girl Thing" etc.) suggest he's either clearing out his closets or just feeling very restless. Even the 3rdEyeGirl stuff feels all over the place, even though they've only been around for a few weeks.

Great parts though.

It would be great if we hadn't heard it as an amazing dance-rock track before.

AMEN. John is ah-mazing. I've had the actual pleasure of sitting next to him as he laid down a simple 2 & 4 thing and my face was sufficiently melted. This new person is alright, but let's not get ahead of ourselves and compare her to the amazing gifts of John and Sheila.
