I didn't like it when I listened to it yesterday. This is one of my absolute fave songs from anyone and I have yet to hear a better version than the original 12". However after listening today, this version is growing on me.

Why make all the tidbits he releases a sticky?

Why not make just ONE sticky and mention each thread in there?

The list sticky whatevers grows way too long.

Trickology

I'd rather hear these kind of reworks rather than "I like it there" "Guitar" "Peach" "Screwdriver"

If new reworks are what must be done, this power trio seems to have the energy to harness it out of him. Onward,Madison! Take more loads of funk off the truck! lol

Imagine a slightly more bluezy version done in a slightly smoky bar, with some Belgian beer...

Really not eager 2 talk about who should get which job but I've always been wishing 4 Prince 2 contact Cindy Blackman....

And her husband can join the band 2 play guitar 4 Prince, I hear he's pretty good at it... razz

Let's keep everything in perspective, it is a rehearsal. So, yes there may be monontonous parts and missed cues. Sacking band members that arent in your band on the basis of a rehearsal.....chill guys and gals.

It has been released to create a buzz for the upcoming shows, and to leave everyone in no uncertain terms this 4 piece band is going to bring the rock, synths and linn are staying at PP .

Whether we like this version or not, we should all be grateful that it is available....the price aint bad either.

Prince is a musician not a lifestyle.

Plus all this esoteric aesthetic talk about bands members instrumentation etc is so much bullshit.

Its as if folks cant just listen to the music and enjoy it instead of dissescting each note to its elements and how its played.

What the fuck?

I know. Im sure nobody was jotting down notes on the timbre of a cymbal crash or how one hit in a drum role was slightly off on one kickdrum measure lol

One of the greatest aspects about Prince, is that he can indeed change things around, and make it sound fresh and new. HONESTLY, I prefer this than the rushed version he performed a while ago. It seems like he has been rushing through this song for the longest, so the fact that he is giving it more attention is so cool!

I don't see what's the big deal? He made it slow and made the bass come towards the front. It's a cool mix! WHY shouldn't he touch the 'Classics'? I mean they are his, and do we really need another Adele? Someone who performs it EXACTLY the way we hear it when she's on stage? Hahaha..No offense to her. lol

I just love the reload feel of it, the guitars couldn't sound any better. ESPECIALLY THE LAST SOLO! YES! AND while he just quoted the first lyrics, he at least gave us the 'TAKE ME AWAY' which is one of my favorite lines in the song anyways! Haha

Ida Bass sounds so good!

So, I think it's pretty L E G I T! headbang

It's Button Therapy, Baby!

i don't get all the talk about the drumming

i think she does fine... it fits the music he's doing... not every band suits a blackwell style drummer (don't get me wrong... the man is a genius)... take meg white as an example... incredibly simple stuff that fitted the music perfectly

i don't think john bonham would have suited hendrix... and i didn't think mitch mitchell would have suited zeppelin

prince isn't after an intricate technical funk style right now

music isn't a competition

She's a pretty blonde on team Prince. That's bad enough for some people it seems. I refuse to believe all these armchair critics are expert drummers, personally i think she's great, but what do i know.

Some folks like to think they have this esoteric knowledge of music that no one else does... hannah is a fine drummer.. Kirky J she is not.. She is 23 years old and will only get better. Donna is a fine guitarist. she too is young and will only get better.. One minute people want band memebers with personlaity and the minute he gets em; folks hate...Lastly, I'll take Questloves comment on her going absolutely "ham" on percussions down at SXSW during the show
