they're not cluttered ramblings to me, maybe thats because i have ears in my mind and a brain in my heart.
i find it amazing that some of you support lazy and careless journalists, in a day and age where they screw up the truth so badly, you could almost soley blame them, and the fools who believe whatever they read, for ruining collective consciousness and turning into a pile of ignorant mud.
y'all on some anti-prince tirade, calling him crazy. check ur own logic first maybe, ask urself if it's sane to spend ur time hating on him on an effing fan site. "It's time for you to go to the wire."

If Prince feels that he was misquoted or misunderstood, why doesn't he issue a statement clarifying what he really meant? On another thread,I asked "Do celebrities even *think* before they say something?" Do they take time to consider the fact that what they say could be controversial, offensive to some,or just plain stupid? There's been alot of recent examples of these people making fools of themselves with their ridiculous comments.

Oh,I don't know.....maybe to put an end to all this crazy speculation, ridiculous headlines and media hype that's not even focused on the music?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Exactly. If he just wants to get his name in the headlines there are plenty of other crazy things he could have said that wouldn't upset people as much. What's the record for the number of pages in a Prince: Music and More thread? Have we broken it yet? The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

^ Possibly. | |

Will the thread eventually freeze up if we post too many messages, like the kill screen in Donkey Kong? That would be cool. The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

His whole argument about publishing is that he has no say in the matter who covers some of his songs. I think there's more than one publisher for his body of work.
Buying music digitally is something that has only recently begun to turn a profit. The recording industry was too slow in signing off on legal downloads, it's been out there since '98-'99. The Beatles made a huge profit off of the box sets as well as selling their music online. They don't need the money, but McCartney and the others know this is how people buy their music.
The recording industry didn't take a loss due to piracy as much as it did to people who stopped buying back catalogs and reissues. Once people figured out how to rip their CDs, they didn't need to play their CDs anymore. They have a pristine copy that they'll just copy when the burned disc gets scratched. They either put them away in the closet or sold them off to a resale shop. Prince also lost a lot of sales to the people reselling his music - Garth Brooks tried to fight that one.
Artists are now selling/distributing lossless audio, so the CD is better than digital download argument doesn't hold water. Hard drives are a lot larger than when ipods first came on the market. Prince can put his entire back catalog on an ipod in lossless and just throw in a free download or two.
But what he would be able to do is have the purchaser agree to not copy or distribute the music, there would be digital footprints that the company can find who posted the song. They'd just get their service cut and would have to pay a fine to restore the service. It's kind of creepy but they'd have access to your credit card info and the thought of a fine immediately on my credit card would discourage me from sharing my music on a blogsite or file share site.
Blu Ray Audio is here. Pink Floyd is including Blu Ray in the upcoming box sets, which is going to contain the full length albums as well as never seen footage. I think when Prince does his reissues, the Deluxe Editions should be Blu-Ray, CD, and a lossless digital copy, and all of them should have a bonus DVD containing promos, live footage, interviews, and even a "making of" mini documentary.
I think it's a good time for him to put creating new music on hold, if it means starting to mine through the old stuff.
But he should have put out a 2CD/1DVD collection of his post Warners material, and then start rolling out the reissues.

the hypocrisy of the man beggars belief. jw is a fundamental religion that doesn't allow for even the possibility of the existence of another god. so he might as well have said "it's fun being in godless countries". for all the people saying prince has always been religious, bullshit, what religion did he belong to in the 80s? he preached spirituality but adhered to no strict dogmatic religion, that's why i as an atheist shouted "yes" during the lovesexy shows. prince has said that he didn't read the bible in detail til the time he hooked up with larry, his mean spiritedness seems to coincide with the time he started his daily 8 hour studies of the old testament. don't play me...i'm over 30 and i DO smoke weed....

Christianity and Islam both believe in the same invisible super hero daddy from outterspace.

And Judaism, too. | |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
not true. jehovah and allah are not the same super hero daddy from outtaspace, the koran and bibles depiction of god are vastly different. i'm reminded of the time when jermaine jackson appeared on never mind the buzzcocks just after he became a muslim simon amstell "didn't you used to be a jehovah's witness?" jermaine "yeah, but now i'm a muslim" simon amstell "oh well, they're both right!" don't play me...i'm over 30 and i DO smoke weed....

They're the same dude - Allah is just the arabic word for God, YHWH is one of his names in Judaism, transliterated to Jehovah/Yahweh. If the Qur'an and Bible depict him differently, well that's why they're different offshot religions, but it's the same spiteful, jealous, petty and contradictory...... wait a minute, no wonder Prince likes him so much!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
i appreciate what you're saying, let's not get lost in the pedantics. both religions have used god (who let's face it doesn't exist in the 1st place) as a concept to fuel their own idiosyncratic, insular hatred and intolerance. totally agree with your last comment, prince has found a god that reflects his own personality. did he mean a word of lovesexy??? am i a twat for believing in him then??? i don't know what to do, i think i'll read catcher in the rye and then consider my actions! don't play me...i'm over 30 and i DO smoke weed....
