I thought we were having a chat about an article...people do it all the time whether it's Prince or Obama, Charlie Sheen, taxes, Anthony Weiner, Beyonce, global warming, etc, etc, etc,..what's the problem?
Anything else you'd rather we not discuss???

Feel free to discuss whatever you want. My point is that many ORGERS get all riled up with false outrage then do nothing. If anyone feels that Prince needs to be checked then do something about it. Otherwise it's just pointless name calling and that's sad from his 'fanbase'. There's a thread on here every week about how Prince is over/done/finished yet the posters of those threads are still following Prince's every step. Evidenced by the 32 pages on this thread alone. There's an orger who is fond of telling everyone that he has the 'balls' to tell us what Prince is doing wrong but somehow he lacks those 'balls' when it comes to moving on from Prince. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

What exactly can we do about it? Write him an angry letter? That's essentially what this is. He doesn't care what we think anyway. It's just a way for people to vent their frustration with a musician that we all used to love at some point but who went off the rails long ago. Sort of like a relative who never shows up for family gatherings and is always getting into trouble. Guess what the topic is likely to be when the family gets together. Does the name calling work? What name should you be called for voicing your opinion? People have a problem with Prince but it's Prince they're expecting to change so the 'relationship' can go back to what it was. That's delusional thinking. Prince has his convictions and he's standing by them. That's rational. His convictions may not be 'the popular opinion' but they are his to have. We are all entitled to that basic freedom last time I checked. I personally have not taken offense to anything Prince has ever said/done to polarize his fanbase. They're just words at the end of the day. If Prince needs to be checked then boycott him(CDS, tours, movies). Otherwise it's just more words. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

he can talk to anyone he wants about anything he wants. whether he should or not is debatable.
if he has views that u genuinely disagree with, then just ignore them. giving them ur attention only makes them more powerful.
the real threat lies in how much negative feedback gets fed into what he supposedly says because it strips you of your right to remain unpreturbed.
freedom and peace in the world starts with you. its not something you ask for. its something you become, regardless of what anyone is saying or doing.
in my opinion.

Somebody said Prince needs to be checked?
I dunno, this thread has actually been pretty tame by org standards. I don't think I've seen even one snip.
Haven't seen much outrage either, for that matter...people were mostly debating various aspects of what was said, or like me, just rather amused.
I guess you want certain orgers to go away...I don't know what to tell you about that.

You can call me whatever you want. Somebody called me a jackass a few pages back and I just laughed because the person knows nothing about me. I'm not making assumptions about other people on here and their motivations for posting. As for my opinions on Prince, well, I don't know him personally either, but I've observed his behavior for more than 25 years and he clearly has some psychological problems having to do with control. If Prince were a friend of mine I would encourage him to seek therapy.
As for boycotting, he said he's not releasing any more CDs, so that part will be easy. And his upcoming concerts are about 5000 miles away from me, so I'm not planning to go to any of them. I guess that leaves movies? All I want from Prince is remastered versions of his old albums and stuff from the vault, and if he offers that to me I'm happy to spend my money to reward him for doing something smart for a change. Yea! attended that historical night. Who would have known Oprah would have said goodbye 2 her show 6 years later, & Obama would be President of the United States & Prince would be still torned apart even worse on this site... will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.

I stopped caring about what he says long ago. I just don't want whatever HooDoo that got into him and made him do a 180 from the man that I admired and respected once upon a time ago, rubbing off on my President. Nor any of his mindless jibber jabber being used by the TeaGOParty against my President.
Beyond that...I'm not preturbed about what he said. If I cared anymore...I'd probably feel sorry for him but honestly...I just don't.

I actually think it's a good idea for him to take a break from releasing new music.Like you said,we have plenty of other Prince albums to enjoy for the rest of our life. Not to mention the bootlegs, live shows, etc.I think we'll be just fine without new Prince albums for awhile

i understand.
i was watching a program on TV last week and this guy was being questioned by police. he'd answer the question then go off on a tangent and say something seemingly unrelated to the question.
a psychiatrist said he was showing signs of psychosis because his answers showed a disconnect from his immediate environment as if he suddenly wasnt talking to police but to friends.
i disagreed with the psychiatrist, and i continued to disagree with him when they were in court and the 'accused' asked for a time-out because he was finding it difficult to listen to people say that he was psychotic.
the judge understood and gave them all a time-out. "It's time for you to go to the wire."

Well, Prince is a musician, darling. There is more to him than just pics of him walking into and out of hotels. Naturally, his fans want him to put out good music and typically will hold out for the good music despite the fact he continues to release mediocre music.

WB didn't save him from anything imo. They simply tried to get at least a bit back for their investments by (understandably) insisting on his contractual obligations (pacta sunt servanda, after all). He was his ultra-stubborn self and pretty much ruined what could have been an extremely successful period for him. I mean, what did WB do to stop him from his ToraTora interview with Mayte giving the answers? The "middle man" you described would have been someone who he trusted and who would have told him: "Look, Prince, you can fight this war and you will be free from this contract at some stage, but the price you pay is so high that it would be stupid of you to do it. Just make those albums, promote them, and then tell WB to go to hell." Apparently, Levi Seacer tried that and failed.

It's not "mere words" in the "no choice" societies he seems to be justifying. There it's very real oppression. The rationalizations of some of the apologists of Prince are even more astounding than the ramblings of the man himself. If Prince thinks fundamentalist dictatorships are a prime example of the "theocratic order" he would like to see installed, pretty much everywhere, he's entitled to that opinion - who is denying him his right to free speech? But he should be called out on his nonsense. The more so as his art, especially his "early art", would not in any way have been tolerated by such regimes. Though I would have loved to see him perform in his Dirty Mind underwear on Iranian ayatollah TV.

That was me who called you an asshole and by your latest post I stand by my assumption. BTW, my thinking is just as crazy as your thinking that since you've been a fan for 25 years you are clearly in a position to judge someones mental state

I don't think it's a good idea to put out an album if you have nothing new or interesting to say.Alot of times,I feel that Prince just releases albums so he can brag that he has the most number of albums Another year, another album. It feels like he's on auto-pilot sometimes.

Wow, I've been gone a bit and come back to this amusing little article.
I could care less what Prince says, I find it funny actually. Sad he's chosen not to release anymore new music (which we all know ain't true anyway) BUT
AS LONG AS HE DOES NOT STOP PERFORMING THEN I WILL BE OKAY BECAUSE THAT SURE AS HELL WILL BREAK MY HEART!!! DON'T YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT THAT PRINCE!!!

So, you agree with Prince's comments then? .

Prince wants basic freedom rights to be taken away from people and applauds totalitarian societies where woman have no basic rights.
I am doing just that for quite some years already. I stopped buying his CDs and all the other stuff I used to collect. I did not join his last website anymore. I must admit that I went to one show last year and I did not feel good at all to give him some of my money that way. But compared to the times when I travelled to numerous shows for every tour one concert in nearly 10 years is not so bad . With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

That right there. Prince needs to open himself to experiencing the world beyond his staff. For all its ideological issues, one of his last most interesting pieces of music was The Rainbow Children, which reflected his coming into what for him was "new knowledge" in the form of the JW religion. But it was also his answer to the neosoul movement. The tour that followed including the aftershows, capped off by the 2002 Xenophobia celebration, featured some of his best, most inventive, refreshing live performances.
Though there have been fits and starts, we haven't seen that level of creativity since.
His output since has become very selfcontained, and in some cases reflect boredom, entropy, and fatigue. A sabbatical--where he goes out and explores the lives of people, the music they are listening to, what is important in their lives--would do him well. He has the means to travel while touring. If he could find a way to see what life is like on the ground (even in the land of burkas) maybe he would be reinspired with something to say. "That...magic, the start of something revolutionary-the Minneapolis Sound, we should cherish it and not punish prince for not being able to replicate it."-Dreamshaman32
