in your understanding, what is GOD ? this too shall pass

You guys are making the possibility of a God look less and less likely. Nothing you say is remotely convincing and I have/had been a believer since I was four years old.

mm i find it interesting too, although some days i wonder if man really did evolve from apes.
the resemblance is uncanny in some people and i'm not talking about physical appearance either.
anyway, there's all different kinds of people in the world, i'm sure they're not ALL chest-beaters who thug about on message boards putting other people down.
maybe the ones with the least damaged gene pool have the best chance of developing their cosmic intelligence and the others will have to wait til their next life.
time to crack open another pepsi, watch nascar, scratch my ass and wait for someone else to do all the work while the planet goes to hell.

ok vendetta, i asked you to define god if you want proof because as i define god the proof is abundant. so abundant that it is challenging to deny. if god is everything as i believe than how can you deny that everything exists? if god is the universal truth that connects and affects every moment, do u truly believe that you are not connected? .. the actions of others, yourself, the wind, the cat you tripped over, the thought or intentions of others, the intentions of every living atom, the movement of the stars, planets etc .. do you really believe that you are not connected to all of that and that all of that is not connected to you? are you not in awe of your very existence and the perfect nature in which your body and every thing on the planet and in the universe function precisely?
if your definition of god is some old dude with a beard then yup i cant prove that sorry. but i say the fact that you CANT define god should be proof enough for you. in that is proof that something greater than you that you cannot comprehend, that you cannot deny or define, certainly exists.
the word of god .. i disagree that the bible is truth .. while it may be historical in areas .. the bible is certainly open to those who would rewrite the words to benefit themselves .. and the original words were from man recounting experiences anyways. the word of god is that feeling you get when someone is lying to you .. telling you to trust your instincts .. we are all born with it but unfortunately robin hood is right and we have been programmed to ignore the word of god .. instead our brains are trained almost from birth to follow the word of the church leaders (ugh), the television, the government, the programming in school. the word of god is contained within our dna, it tells us the truth, it teaches us all we really need to know .. just like animals that know when to migrate .. we have all knowledge within .. a book called the bible has nothing to do with the true word of god ... in the bible are clues left from some who may guide you to find your own word of god but unfortunately most churches and religions are more about diverting you from connecting to the word of god and programming you to follow the persons who falsley claims to be speaking the word of god.

I submit that everything that came in to existence did so 12 seconds ago, everything and everyone. It all happened with the occurrence of POW. Now we are 12 seconds, excuse me 34 seconds old, created with memories implanted of the past. That's because all we have is now, and memories, and beliefs based on hope. Hope should not be dismissed as a useless thing. Some hope is very reasonable if not down right necessary. A hope that we will be here 12 seconds from now, tomorrow, see our children grow and be happy, and perhaps, just perhaps, there is something more than us going on. A greater love that hides in us all, a greater hope that extends past our lives, and it doesn't stare us boldly in the face and demand anything. There is no greater freedom than to allow our minds and actions be molded by a promise, and nothing more.
So no, I don't really believe we sprang to life 12 seconds ago anymore than I can believe that this thing we see as life and time is the ultimate ruler of who and what we are. I don't believe in that coincidence, or any coincidence. We can't change what is any more than we can change what was, and the future is as written as the past, it will soon be the past and is unchangeable.
I think we can only do our best at the best times we can. I think we have to in hope that it makes a difference, in forming this future that we can't see. To me, hope has merit. Quite possibly, the greatest merit in mankind.
What do you want to believe in? What do you feel compelled to believe in? What do you feel you have no choice but to believe? There are a lot of answers to these questions. Everyone is scrambling to either convince or force their belief on someone else, or to rationalize their belief through this force, as though they will spark an inspiration of truth or defeat by insult, and justify by some victory within their own pride their position is justified.
I hope for something greater than us in some ways because of this. Because if this is who we are and what we are and how we behave, then forbid the horror that we are all there is, because we aren't much. We are all so full of here

What the fuck are you even TALKING ABOUT?
Do you read what you write? God is the feeling when someone lies to you? The fact you can't define God proves his existence????? What??!?! You have been brainwashed to the Nth degree. What kind of idiocy forces you to agree with this sort of indoctrination? Turning away science doesn't make science not exist anymore.

i read it a couple times now and minus a few dot dot dots that could use clarifying ... it makes perfect sense ...
i did not say god is the feeling when someone lies to you .. i said god is the feeling you get when some one lies to you .. telling you not to trust them
as in the voice of god is much like your intuition even tho someone tells you one thing that u may want to believe .. ulitmately inside you something warns you .. speaks to you .. its a feeling you get .. and when u can quiet the lies around you, you can hear the voice of god.
this was in response to some one elses comment about the voice of god and the bible etc ...
if you cannot define god .. as in explain EVERYTHING in terms not related to whatever your definition of god is .. than god exists ... simple enough .. i believe god is everything and therefore if u are to convince me otherwise than prove to me what everything is other than GOD .. because my definition works and yours does not.
as for my "idiocy" .. could you please take that cigarette out of your avatars mouth when insulting my intelligence .. it really doesnt help your case
as for science .. science is fine .. a controlled experiment in an attempt to understand god that time and time again trips over itself and makes a huge mess .. science is catching up to what we already know .. its just going really slow ... unfortunately its science for profit and that is very limiting to what we as the human race could accomplish in a very short time if actions were taken for progress and not profit ... ho hum

it still makes no sense but unlike some of you, i will not try to convince you God does not exist. Believe whatever you choose.

I've never understood why science and faith are so often viewed as mutually exclusive.
Science has the potential to explain everything within the constructs of our reality (ie. humans, animals, plants, rocks, our planet, other planets, stars, etc...)
It can define how it is we breathe, yet can't explain how we came to breathe in the first place.
It can intricately explain how a seed germinates and becomes a plant, yet can't explain where the first seed came from.
If you're looking to prove something, you need science, as proof is directly related to the human mind, which relies on science and facts.
If one could genuinely prove the existence of God, these discussions would be moot, as everyone would believe in God, just as they believe in photosynthesis and the phenomenon of sneezing.
Anything outside of what can be tested or proven is a matter of faith.
What caused the big bang, how life begins, how we sometimes just know when someone is lying to us or a family member is in trouble, etc... are unsolved - and almost certainly unsolvable - human mysteries.
People put these forward as proof of God, but what they really are is proof of matters currently beyond explanation, because proof belongs to the human mind, which is something incapable of understanding God.
My personal view is that God is in all things. I also believe that through meditation and communion with God we can tap into the Divine Mind, that connects us all, which requires no proof of anything because it knows only Truth.
I will never try to convince anyone of that belief however because it is an obvious paradox (ie. it would require somehow trying to prove what I believe, which, by definition, can't be proven).
For those determined to prove their case (for science or faith), particularly by slamming others' beliefs or demanding proof to the contrary, it's worth asking yourself why it's so important to you that either others believe what you do, or that they at least don't try and poke holes in your beliefs.

This ten page debate is a good example of why 'witnessing' is uneffective.
People just keep stating their opposing views, and noboby changes their mind when it's all said and done. People argue. People get increasingly more angry. Not very 'Christ-like' at all, when you think about it.
Plus it's too many words for anyone who might be slightly interested.
So-called 'Christians' probably convert more people to atheism than they do Christianity.
Again, don't bother Prince with your Christian rhetoric, he's heard it all before just like the rest of us. You'll most likely never get the chance to speak to him beyond 'hello, how are you?' anyway, so save yourself the embarrassment of trying to change his beliefs.

The evolution THEORY was debunked LONG AGO...which is why most Christians refuse to teach or indulge in the THEORY. All of the so called evidence was longed found to be a hoax, proven to be total bs by science methods of all things... the so called "proof" is out there, and the subsequent studies done to disprove the "proof" is out there for all to look into...
And BTW, I would go head to head with any evolutionists...{Bible in hand} Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

You've yet to go head to anything with anyone in this thread. What makes you think that you could outwit someone who is paid to know this shit?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Can you provide one source that proves evolution was debunked?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
They are the main reason I am on the verge of not believing anymore.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I'm not trying to outwit anyone..I could care less how much money they are paid. Knowing GOD and his truth doesn't cost anything...so yeah I could go at it with them, I'd be simply speaking the undeniable truth, they would be speaking their theories..no worries on my part there.
And it's useless to "discuss" anything with the majority of people on this site...too many haters, plus not to many people who know how to actually "debate." Debating isn't about getting all personal, name calling, etc. which is what usually happens on this board with opposing views. Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

GOD is the creator of all things that we know...the sun, the stars, the moon, mankind, animals, the sea, the trees etc. Anything that is man made is through his authority. GOD is LOVE!!! He is eternal life, salvation, hope, faith, truth, GOD is the beginning and the end. Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

imo, it is because of human arrogance. science and faith/religion are telling the same story as far as i can tell.
but its hard for people to see the parallels when they are used to thinking in literal terms.
to see the same story being told in both religion and science requires a poetic mindset.
flat, rational, literal thinking thwarts this view, plus man's arrogance that his sole view is the only correct one.
the problem lies in people not wanting to budge from what they currently believe, fear of change, or opening one's mind to greater possibilities.
keep in mind we are humans who live in a dualistic word, where we see everything as being separate from everything else.
its only when we embrace the oneness of all things that we can embrace the idea that all knowledge is one also.
science, religion, philosophy, psychology for example, are all one knowledge, expressing itself in different facets of the same prism.
ego has to be removed from the equation to see how this is true, plus a leaning toward the right side of the brain which softens the whole picture to be conclusive, instead of exclusive. this too shall pass

GREAT points!! I think people try to Christian people are driven by GOD to spread his word..that is what the Bible instructs. And while at times it seems useless, it does work. There are so many people that have come to GOD because of missionary work!! So it does workk, sometimes it takes longer than expected...but it's worth it....
I can't testify to why nonbelievers try to convince others to not believe, as I'm not a nonbeliever. But isn't that what we do in everything that we believe in...? Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

Ever heard of "punctuated equilibrium." You know what that theory is all about? It's basically a "newer" theory that was designed to prove why the "original" theory had no evidence!! Check it out, it's interesting reading.. Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

thanks daphne, i'd never heard of this, very interesting indeed.

You may not want to use wiki as a source.

well that was politley put. a sudden display of manners.
maybe your instant evolution is a case of punctuated equilibrium, cuz it sure as shit wasnt gradual.
do i need to get any more punctuated or are you guys gettin the message loud n clear. this too shall pass
