personally i LOVED Trey songz PURPLE RAIN cover over pattis...whats up with that "i never meant to cause u any sorrow...sorrow...sorrow...sorrow" or the other line that she kept repeating the last word 3 times??

i thought she had made a mistake on the 1st line but nooooooooooooo...she did it again 2 lines after the beginning line...

thank God that was the only times she repeated a word 3 times...

the tribute was full on weird.. it felt like i was gatecrashing someone's house party & watching some kind of hilarious charades.

the ONLY act that really stood out for me was esperanza spalding, she brought the class.. someone had to

but strangly this thing was far from a disaster.. it was fantastic to see him get loose(ish) smiling & having fun, he seemed genuinely overwhelmed, his speech was gracious & genuine, although it bothers me that he might have regrets from 'mistakes', regrets are not healthy, he should embrace his past with more pride

anyway he looked amazing, beautiful shirt & electric hair.

Yes, I watched her amped up impersonations of Prince, James Brown, Michael Jackson, Grace Jones, Andre Benjamin, Erykah Badu and Rapheal Saadiq, which was cool and all but no where near as mind blowing nor memorable...as any one of them...individually! Before all the backlashing starts, I enjoy both artists. It would have been more appropriate to have a MJ Tribute at another time. Patti has always taken her shoes off at many of her performances. This would not be the first time. It is obvious he was aware before the show who was chosen to do the tribute. Stevie, Patti and Chaka are longtime friends of his, and Alicia, Janelle and Esperanza are artists whose talent he admires and supports.

The Hater in me was a little taken aback too because even as egomonical as Prince is...surely HE has to know that he would not have been on that stage receiving that award, had it not been for what he's done in his "wild days"!

The optomist in me is going to go with...he was talking to Alisha Keyes because she jumped her happy ass on top of that piano...ignoring the fact that she's pregnant...trying desperately to impress him...since her vocals damn sure weren't doing the job.

Lets Go Crazy was by far the worst performance....

i thought Adore was good, but i loved Esperanza.....a stand out for me.

And yes it was great to see Prince enjoying his night...he looked great.

I was wondering if he had regrets or if he was commenting on the Over Dramatic of his music...possibly thinking they didn't need to go over the top like that...if they just stood there an sang, it would have been much better....

Although; I would have loved to see him take the stage...that would have made it for me.
