Dude take it up with Viacom a white-controlled company and while you are at it. Take it up with them about Logo, and the Spanish networks they own. It is called marketing to a cetain demographic even if BET has so little to do with Black America anymore.

I remember when Bob Johnson sold BET to Viacom not too long ago. Honestly, I rarely watch BET anymore. They used to have better programming back in the early 90s. Sadly, I see that station quickly turning into a haven for infomercials. lol

[Edited 6/15/10 10:13am]

Well this happens whenever large companies purchase black owned businessed. They run the business into the ground. I honestly think BET was better when Bob Johnson owned it which is scary because you not imagine it getting worst. Viacom has done nothing with the network but dump informcials and stupid reality shows on it. I don't know if Viacom knows nothing about Arfican- American culture or if they planned to run the network in the ground from the begining.

it was a performance to him. he didnt care that nobody was happy with what he was doing onstage. do you honestly think he going to give a mind blowing performance at the bet awards? did you happen to notice that nobody posted on youtube the performance he gave at the rrhof prior to picking up his award? you known why because it wasnt up to snuff.

What the fuck are you talking about?. All people did was rave about the RRHOF performances back at the time and his performance with Tom Petty has almost a million hits with people raving about how good a guitarist he is. Are you on something or do you not know that in that same year he sold about 100 million dollars worth of concert tickets.

Sure, because you can think for him and predict how his performance will turn out. You come here to b*tch and whine and complain about him yet your ass was right there at his performance. lol

If Prince shows up, straps on his guitar, and breaks wind into the mic for 15 minutes, it would be beter than everything before or after him.

His appearance on that show has gotten TONS of hits! They allow the clip of Prince Performing "While my Guitar Gently Weeps" and that clip alone has done more for Prince's reputation than almost anything in the last 20 years to the average listener. People come across that clip and and the posts to that clip are all "Damn, i didn't know Prince was such a bad-ass!"

I've not trawled through every comment here but I'm assuming that he would have received most of this attention last year if it hadn't been for MJ. I'm not saying that as any disregard of MJ. Do you feel if it wasn't for MJ last year that Prince would have been happpy to go along with a PR hype or does he see nostalgia as weakness?

BET had better not screw this up like they did the MJ tribute...rushed or not, it was a hot mess.

Hopefully it will be like the other lifetime achievement presentations. I'd love to see...

Sheila

Alicia

The Time

and, yes...

The Revolution

I have no desire to see any younglings or hip hoppers mangle Prince's songs. I remember Rihanna's performance with The Time.

Well BET seems to really be gearing up for the upcoming tribute. Tonight they had a "Best of the BET awards" and showed clips of artists performing from their past award shows. In between they showed a clip of Prince performing with India Arie singing.. Then they ended that show with a clip of Prince performing with Chaka and Stevie, and others on stage, from that past show, while the credits rolled.Let's hope the upcoming tribute for him is well put together.
