Then Prince moved on to a small club later that night and was so whacked out that he didn't even know which direction to face. Prince was on two different stages twice in one night and it doesn't seem like we missed anything good at either one. I'm kind of mystified that no one that was at the Gala has tweeted or posted anything about Prince OR Taylor Swift's performances. At least, not that I know of. So I am going to just quit wondering what he played, because whatever it was, it wasn't remarkable enough for any press. That doesn't mean it was bad, just unremarkable. Well if this will help any, I saw on Funkenberry's site someone named "DJ7" stated that he walked in during the last two songs of the Time Gala 100, which he mentions that "Baby Love" was played as well as, Shelby J singing "Angel". This has to be the most non informative Prince performance thread I ever read. Plus there are very few pics from the The gala Time 100 performance or clips from his performance or set list. Its almost like he wasn't really there. Plus no celebrities have commented on Prince being there or his performance. Its just been negative comments about him not schmoozing with anyone. Its almost as if Prince demanded for there not to be many pics or comments about his show there. Plus Prince seems to be in rare form in the few pics. This whole thing seems strange to me . will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.

I understand that we all want our favourite artist to keep proving everything else to be crap but it can't be so. This man has nothing left to prove so let's celebrate that. He has essentially turned in to a musician and let him enjoy that. You, We, I can argue that Prince sees himself as more than this so should be judge but again I would argue that even Prince is a consumer of his past and present and he too should enjoy. Prince has contributed sooo much we and he should let it be.

Well Dr F said it was a private event and the Times Gala kept their word.
As for the afterbash...Prince all laid back, without the bling, camera shy and all the folks here complaining about the "look" and the "lack of Prince on camera." But Shelby did say "Capture the music in your soul...feel it, you don't need your ipods and cameras, put them away." And then just yesteday Obama warns of ipads, ipods etc being a distraction and diversion, a form of entertainment. Why can't people just feel and experience anymore? We live in an age of silicone souls. The worst part is that we're not aware of it.Ignorance is always bliss. say what? So why feed the negativity by giving it the attention it thrives for? Ignore it, and it won't have any value.. [Edited 5/11/10 9:50am]

So tonight I actually met someone who was at the Time 100 gala and thought I'd try to find out what Prince's set list was, or at least get some description. Unfortunately, she was just a casual fan at best and couldn't say much about it. She did, however, say that Prince's performance was incredible and that she was amazed by him. She thought the rest of the crowd felt pretty much the same.
Not that this is earth-shattering news or anything. Just thought I'd report it anyway.

[Edited 5/10/10 9:43am] There's an old song called Baby Love by the group Mother's Finest, which is pretty much a standard staple in every rock-funk band's repetoire; it sounds like something right up Prince's alley compared to the type of covers normally does, so perhaps this was the version they were referring to...
