I'm a bit worried, wasn't particularly impressed with anything he got up to in Paris, then the Purple & Gold/Cause & Effect debacle, now this pointless, mediocre performance. He's either losing interest or his hearing. He looks OK to me, but i don't give a fig about that.

I was feeling that way too then I heard the Montreux show. His performance of Empty Room alone blew me away. Literally got me teary eyed.

Definitely not. Half the show was awesome, half of it was a dud.

At this point no one seems to know though I think Shelby sang Angel by Sarah Mclaughlan. Don't quote me though cool

Prince Shows Up At Village Underground For Unannounced Time Gala Aftershow[/b]

Prince played the Time 100 event last night in New York and then headed over to the Villiage Underground to do an impromptu 45 minute set.

Prince was rehearsing at the Villiage Underground earlier in the day we are being told and Prince most likely played their tonight to thank them for letting them rehearse there.

The ENTIRE after show was streamed online at Thevillageunderground.com and Prince must have had some idea he was being filmed by them and with all the camera phones in the audience as he played a majority of the show with his back to the crowd.

Prince is rocking a shorter ‘do nowadays and ran thru a set that we heard consisted of “I Feel 4 U” and “Controversy” along with a few songs by his 8 piece band.

This was totally unannounced and no extra money was made by Villiage Underground even though the baddest man on the planet was rocking their stage.

Way to really stick it to the man, Prince.

Exactly. According to Drfunkenberry.com report, Shelby J singing "In the Arms of an Angel" by Sarah McLachlan was all that was reported regarding the performance at the Time 100 Gala.

- For me, he looks good. Not androgynous, nice clothes and it´s great to see him playing Model C again. And I still miss the Cloud...

So ..., here we are around the water-cooler talking about Prince's haircut, whether he is going bald and his lack of make-up. At the same time we have some posters claiming they are 'bored' and 'tired' by recent events. No, you are all interested because you are here, spending time writing about Prince's haircut, his lack of make-up and whether he is going bald. Ergo -

you are interested.

I posit that Prince has actually been cloning himself for many years. This is his latest clone out for the Time Gala, trying to gain confidence and try out his skills. The evidence for this is very convincing:

1) The latest clone is shy, as Prince was in his first performances, thus performing with his back to the crowd.

2) The Clone is disoriented with time and is using a Prince guitar from 1990 by mistake.

3) The Clone has forgotten to apply make-up.

4) The Clone's hair has not fully grown, thus its relatively 'short' appearance.

5) The Clone has been aged approximately, giving a slightly older look than fans are familiar with.

What reviews? The bulk of this thread was the equivalent of a Joan Rivers E Television Awards Show Rehash!

What is Prince wearing?
Who did his hair?
Who did the makeup?
What accessories is he wearing?
Who's the designer?
Is that a weave?

The Org. is devolving into a tabloid fix. At least in regards to Prince. There was a time when the setlist would've been posted as the songs were being played. Now it all about Prince's bald spot or lack thereof.

We got 2 try a new position!

You are right. There were a couple of comments that he didn't sound his best. I don't know, I still know that he sounded better than most folks can ever hope to. (and being 48 myself I also know he looks better than most do after 50). I can't believe that I never became a real fan until 2008; that's just crazy. I have missed so much. I have my fingers crossed that I will get to see at least one live performance in my lifetime. beg : pray beg pray

Y'know...the more I think about it...there's a lot that's sort of...well...odd about how he looked the other night. Much shorter hair...much less make-up...really simple (ie, not flashy) outfit...and no jewelry. No ear bling, no rings, no "magic breastplate" necklace.

I wonder what's going on with him? hmmm

I thought the same thing. First thought was he was getting back into his spiritual/religious side. My second thought was that he pretty much maxed the makeup, diamonds, hair-bump out over the last couple of years. Had he gone any further he would have looked like the late Quentin Crisp. It was time for the pendulum (spelling) to swing the other way.
