I'm a bit worried, wasn't particularly impressed with anything he got up to in Paris, then the Purple & Gold/Cause & Effect debacle, now this pointless, mediocre performance. He's either losing interest or his hearing. He looks OK to me, but i don't give a fig about that.

Some of y'all sound like a bunch of gossiping old bitties!

"Prince was at the Underground last night!"
"Girl did you see that hair? Oh my Gawd!!!"
"He must be losing his hair."
"Why he didn't play Elephants & Flowers?"
"Girl I know. Ain't nobod trying to hear no Controversy!"

You need to remeber the music and get past the image.
If that's a problem for you then it's time you looked in the mirror and questioned your own concepts of beauty.
If Prince needed psychoanalying from a bunch of people who bitch about a mere 77 dollars than he's in trouble.

If somebody could post some info who was there and not critiquing the eyeshadow it would be appreciated.
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Can someone please provide a set list? I'm reading 11 pages of people talking about how he looked with nothing about the show. He's 52 years old. I can't believe Prince played two shows last night in N.Y. and not one person has posted the setlist, but hundreds of people want to talk about his makeup.

I with with you, but he's brought it upon himself. The beauty's wearing off and he's probably a bit unsure how to deal with it. Both his musical and physical image has always been about energy and youth. I think things will get as interesting as they should have been in the 2000's if he wasn't able to cover up the cracks with make-up. There comes a time when you just look older - that time has come for Prince. I think once the initial horror passes, it will only reflame his muse and finally we're going to get some adult music. He's been acting 20 years younger for far too long and a lot of his music has sounded as photoshopped as his face.

Perhaps you need to get into a good rocking chair because you sound old. I don't think P has been acting like he was 20 since the Rave mess. He lyrics have matured and his outward public perception is a little more adult than 20 years ago. I think you are looking for some slow jams and a guy wearing a conservative suit. I don't see either happening anytime soon.

That being said it is good to see the make up gone and the short hair. Although black don't crack and he looks good for man in his 50s

Co-Sign they sound like a bunch of old gossiping ladies. Not music fans. I think some people on this board need to join the Lady Gaga board since they are so interested in make-up and youth.

The reason you haven't seen a setlist is because nobody who would write one was there. And since nature abhors a vacuum, people rushed to fill it with anything they could. shrug

Paris was decent. Not spectacular but decent. Cause & Effect is a great song IMO (minus some of the lyrics) I'm still rocking out to it. So, to each their own I guess... Not sure what a critique of an unscheduled unrehearsed jam that you didnt hear amounts to...

Well, there's not really much you can do about people criticizing an artist. That will go on forever. Everyone will not like everything about an artist or his work, so why knock yourself out focusing on that, you'll drive yourself nuts.

If there's a song you don't like or a performance of a particular artist, well, I don't know of any artist that can please all their fans, because that would be highly impossible, since everyone is an individual and has their own mind and tastes in music. It is what it is, enjoy the artist whose music you appreciate and run with that. That's about all you can do. Life goes on.

Your exactly right about that. But it just bothers me how can a person be a fan and tear there idol apart at the same time.I've never seen any fan of other artist tear there idols apart like Prince so called fans.

To me its self hatred. i can understand why Prince acts the way he does sometimes. Because he can't win for losing in there eyes.

It bothers me that a person like Prince treats his friends & fans like shit sometimes, but I digress.

If someone made an observation of this or any performance, don't crucify him/her for their opinion if you were not there to observe it yourself.

Worried about what exactly? lol That performance at the Village Underground apparently was not a planned aftershow. It was Prince and his singers jamming with the house band for about 20 - 25 minutes when they visited the club that evening. Some who happened to catch him jamming with the house band live online, already posted what songs he and his singers performed, while they were on stage with the house band.

Geez,it's not the end of the world. Now as far as the performance at the Time 100 gala, so far it seems no one here has been able to obtain access to that information regarding what songs were performed at that event. Just have to wait and see if that info will be provided from a source and posted here. shrug

I agree.

Prince is older. Lets all get over it (including him). Here's hoping he hits us with some great music.

i don't like the short hair. but as he's balding i guess it's the best option.

I don't know if African-American hairlines perform the same as caucasian - I imagine they probably do - but I am just about the same age as Prince. I have a full head of hair and absolutely no male pattern baldness.

HOWEVER, my hairline has still receded a bit in front. You could never tell unless I combed my hair straight back, and even then you wouldn't know it's receded much unless you knew me in my youth.

This is natural and unavoidable. It just happens to any head of hair, even one that's full and has no male pattern baldness.

So if Prince's hairline has receded some, that does NOT mean he's going bald.

And if he isn't bald by age 51, I highly doubt he's ever going to be bald.

So I wouldn't worry about this if I were y'all.

I am a 49 yr. old African American female and take it from me, YES, a receding hairline, baldness, and thinning does happen to us also! I had a full head of thick hair in my younger days, but now it has thinned and receded, and I am a female.....in males it's even more common, so it comes as no surprise that it may be happening to Prince, the man is almost 52 after all. Besides, from the pictures I've seen of Prince's dad, he was bald also in his later years, so odds are, Prince will be bald also, since baldness is hereditary. And YES, Prince does look tired and older, that's because at his age tiredness and looking older comes naturally, believe me.....I know![b]

You know I find it interesting that two comments were made earlier in this thread about him looking tired and his makeup and all hell broke loose lol I mean folks are saying Prince is an idol and shouldn't be talked about in that way! For fucks sake! The man is a human being and yes from time to time he may look tired believe it or not. I agree with everything you said Journey I just find it hard to believe that folks are saying an idol shouldn't be talked about by his fans. First! I do not put anyone before Jesus himself. Second! Prince is a musical genius who has brought us all joy with his music-no one will ever change that and just because we are fans does not mean we can't see dammitt!

I've heard male baldness comes from the mother's side, so if this is true P's mom had a lot of hair. I'm not sure about her later years though.
Mmmm, I just cannot wrap my mind around if he has hair pieces or wears a wig, like I've heard some people say/write.

Co-sign....if anything, those pics and that snippet on the TIME website remind me a bit of the 1995 Gold Experience tour....short hair, angry face, skinny Prince.

And a weird guitar. lol
If I recall correctly, that guitar was a gift by Gloria von Thurn und Taxis, a German aristocrat who used to be some sort of it-girl in the 80s and who is now a very conservative and fundamentalist Catholic.
Funny how time has changed both Prince and Gloria.

Dr. FB also posted some info. on him but I can't see the image/video because I'm missing some activex control or soemthing sad
