I didn't see this as an aftershow as well or I'm sure there would have been requests early on, for no cell phone cameras/regular cameras to be used while he was on stage, and he would have done a longer and actual set, more than likely using his own band members. Like you stated, it was basically Prince just jamming with the house band for a few, as well as his singers doing the same.

Exactly! That's what I said earlier. It wasn't even Prince own instruments used & he wasn't even on stage but a few minutes. So it wasn't really an aftershow, Just a last minute jump on stage thing. But as usual people here criticizing his performance and the way he looks as usual
....

Well, there's not really much you can do about people criticizing an artist. That will go on forever. Everyone will not like everything about an artist or his work, so why knock yourself out focusing on that, you'll drive yourself nuts.

If there's a song you don't like or a performance of a particular artist, well, I don't know of any artist that can please all their fans, because that would be highly impossible, since everyone is an individual and has their own mind and tastes in music. It is what it is, enjoy the artist whose music you appreciate and run with that. That's about all you can do. Life goes on.

I wonder if Prince will give a shout-out to SuperCuts® in the liner notes of the new album.

Your exactly right about that. But it just bothers me how can a person be a fan and tear there idol apart at the same time.I've never seen any fan of other artist tear there idols apart like Prince so called fans.

To me its self hatred. i can understand why Prince acts the way he does sometimes. Because he can't win for losing in there eyes.

Where in the pic do you se that he´s balding? I think he still looks much younger than any 51 year old I´ve ever seen. No receding hairline, slim and fit.

um... guys he's balding. i saw it upclose at an aftershow in london at indigo. nothing major... just thinning. also there is quite a bit of photographic evidence that he is receding. there was a thread on here about it. but it's no big deal. in fact i don't care. i was just saying i prefer him with long hair not short. but if you are receding or thinning short is best. trust me... i know! wink

I don't know if African-American hairlines perform the same as caucasian - I imagine they probably do - but I am just about the same age as Prince. I have a full head of hair and absolutely no male pattern baldness.

HOWEVER, my hairline has still receded a bit in front. You could never tell unless I combed my hair straight back, and even then you wouldn't know it's receded much unless you knew me in my youth.

This is natural and unavoidable. It just happens to any head of hair, even one that's full and has no male pattern baldness.

So if Prince's hairline has receded some, that does NOT mean he's going bald.

And if he isn't bald by age 51, I highly doubt he's ever going to be bald.

So I wouldn't worry about this if I were y'all.

Prince could be bald and covering it up. However, guys who are balding do not crop their hair short in order to cover it up. If Prince was really losing his hair, keeping it long/having a weave would make much more sense.

Agree, I'm not an expert on hair, but in my opinion, balding, receding hairlines has nothing to do with race other than the fact that hair textures differ from one race to another. Often times, hair thinning/receding hairlines/baldness can be due to how individuals take care of their hair. Another reason could be genetics within an individual's family, Who knows? Anyway, how did this thread go from Prince performing at the Time 100 gala, and sitting in at a NYC nightclub to hair thinning/baldness. Geez. lol

i didn't want this to turn into a 'prince balding' thread. i merely stated i didn't like his hair short. then added that it may be a necessity as he was balding (in my opinion).

just commenting on how he looked on the night and how i've always preferred the long hair look.

That's a great guitar. Its made by Jerry Auerswald and those axes run somewhere between $17k and $40k. I've always like the Auerswald axes. They have a unique design to them.

Well I hope his collaboration with Quinton Dean is a fruitful one for them Both and the rest of the NPG - by that I mean produces the funk nice to the ears and easy on the feet (ha ha). biggrin

Can someone please provide a set list? I'm reading 11 pages of people talking about how he looked with nothing about the show. He's 52 years old. I can't believe Prince played two shows last night in N.Y. and not one person has posted the setlist, but hundreds of people want to talk about his makeup.

I with with you, but he's brought it upon himself. The beauty's wearing off and he's probably a bit unsure how to deal with it. Both his musical and physical image has always been about energy and youth. I think things will get as interesting as they should have been in the 2000's if he wasn't able to cover up the cracks with make-up. There comes a time when you just look older - that time has come for Prince. I think once the initial horror passes, it will only reflame his muse and finally we're going to get some adult music. He's been acting 20 years younger for far too long and a lot of his music has sounded as photoshopped as his face.
