[...] He's ready to revive the Quiet Storm. "We got sick of waiting for Sade to make a new album," he said, introducing Valente's new album, "Elixir." Bwahahahaha! Sweet Jebus, he really doesn't have a clue. He thinks he can take on the classic Sade albums? He can't even produce anything that's as good as the protégé albums from the 1980s. Oh, and FYI: Sade did have a comeback a couple of years ago. The fact that he doesn't remember this, speaks volumes about how successful this "project" is going to be. Three new albums this year? Yeah sure. How's that Tamar album working out, hm? Remember when that was gonna be da bomb? Sade hasn't put out a new album in seven years. She is notorious for being "studio-shy." It is also funny to hear people refer to "classic Sade" when she has also operated outside of the contemporary rock journalism circles her whole career. She was criticized for making "elevator" music. I just think her voice is so unique that Bria shouldn't be held to that standard by P or anyone. Tamar had more going for her than Carmen Electra, Appolonia or many other proteges. And by the way, P's tribute to Sade (fundraiser for Katrina) was a brilliant song.

I think he's talking about SST, which I wouldn't call brilliant. It was a decent song. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

I have to agree with you on that one. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Now that guy wrote some hateful stuff. Likewise, Bart has said some ridiculous things. I've seen nothing but intelligent posts from Wall thus far. Just because his thoughts on Prince's new music don't adhere to the mass consensus of the fams doesn't mean he's a "hater." I think some Prince fams need to make peace with the fact that the vast majority of people, aside from those working at Rolling Stone, don't think highly of Prince's new work. Why else do you think he has to perform a setlist of strictly 80's material to sell out those arenas? No one wants to hear him perform classics like Turn Me Loose and Musicology. Oh please, whatever material he releases post-Purple Rain, will never be Purple Rain to some fickle American audiences. At his creative peak (Parade/SOTT/Lovesexy) he was losing his pop audience. The Lovesexy Tour failed to sellout in several cities. The SOTT album was a commercial disappointment. There is no translation between quality of material, audience expectations and the sell out of arenas.

I agree with both of your posts jdcxc cause it's true. Prince never had the same kind of commercial success after Purple Rain and the music, arguably, got better. Like what you said, quality means nothing when it comes to sales, or else Britney Spears's career wouldn't be half as long as it's been. [Edited 1/4/09 0:02am] I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I get ur point, but u can't compare PR to any other P album (in terms of sales). That album was a once in a lifetime adventure. It's like MJ and Thriller, The Eagles with Hotel California, Bruce and Born in the USA, etc. it's not possible. The masses are always going to associate an artist with their biggest projects. With that said, I don't think P wants to get record sales anymore. He is more concerned about how he can clear so many millions of dollars once an album is released. That way he won't be stuck like he was with Crystal Ball...with 20,000 copies in storage. Notice how he did with PE, he got his money up fron from the paper in the UK. He then ignored the promotion in the states and didn't reach gold status. If he has a deal with a retailer here in the states (be it Walmart, Best Buy, etc.). They will pay him up front (for the licensing and cds themselves) and will be stuck with the copies after the project is over. Can u imagine walking into Best Buy 2 years from now and seeing 25 to 50 copies of Bria's cd in the store? I pray this project does well. I will do whatever I can as a fan to help promote it. I'm willing to write or call radio stations, put it on my facebook and myspace, send email blasts, whatever. I pray that this project is BIG and he has a tour to back it up. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I think it's brilliant Prince responded with LoveSexy I don't think he was "pressured" to release an album to rival Bad. Remember, P had been working on the Crystal Ball project. Then was asked to sing on "Bad", but refused. He then was forced to dwindle CB down to SOTT. After SOTT, The Black album was going to be released, then he got "saved" and wrote and recorded Lovesexy. I remember 1987 was supposed to be the year P release 2 albums (black album and sott), but we had to wait on Lovesexy. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

If MJ really releases something as well, the year 2009 will be finally something to look something to look forward to. Can´t wait for any of those releases. Wow, talk about a dedicated fanbase. It's been 20 years since anything close to a decent MJ release. Has there ever been any talk of him working with Quincy again? Why not?

I'm surprised Prince couldn't get Sade to work on an album (or at least a couple trax) with him. I suppose there's always hope.
I imagine Valente might have a great vox/sound, but nothing compares to Sade. Nothing.

Nah, not Sade. I'm not surprised she hasn't worked with any other popular artists. Looking at her history, besides band-mates (and recurring backing vocals/duet partner Leroy Osbourne), Sade is very individualistic regarding her music. I admire that about her. Working with Prince might be cool (and I'd actually would like to see that), but I highly doubt she'd ever do it. "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Sade's last album was released in the year 2000.
So it will be a decade since her last release if she doesn't come out with an album this year.
