New topic PrintableHello prince
If you readin this then I am afraid to admit that my son dances to all kinds of music I put on the reccy player, and most of it is yours. I, like any dotty parent have recorded such images on my camcorder for memory and to use against him when he gets older. I have not put these images on utube, but for the love of man, give it a rest. It is not copyright infringment it is being a parent. So when the grandparents come round, and friends, and we play the recording, or I get him to dance for them, is that public performance? No. Lighten up little fella. I love your music, my son loves music. What happens if I record me dancing to prince on the stereo and put it on utube, eh! Lets hope nobody records Prince fans dancing to prince at a Prince party and puts that on utube, no more Prince parties.

I know I'm fighting a losing battle because I was once as blinkered as you are as regards Prince. As for those saying Prince has the right to distribute his music how he wishes well yes, of course he does according to law. But in terms of morality (something else Prince thinks he has the higher ground on these days), this case only proves that he is a hypocrite. Oh and irony, as I've said already in this thread I'm English. If there's one thing we do understand in abundance it is the use of irony and sarchasm. Naivity is something often associated with the US of A. After all, what sort of country would vote George Bush into power twice? Great post BUT george bush wasn't elected; he was selected Some of us don't see this entire planet in terms of American politics, ya know...

Admit that you're just looking after your own interests, and couldn't care less about whether or not he or anyone else loves their neighbor - come on! I've never understood why the French call us roast beefs or fillet steaks, puzzles me a bit. Anyway to answer your question, yeah, too right I'm looking after my own interests but the difference is that I don't study the bible/go to church/believe that God exists. That doesn't mean that I don't live my life in a morally correct way though. I do try to get on with everybody. The big difference here is the fact that Prince believes to have the moral highground over others and he does believe in God and the word of the bible.....and then goes totally against that word. That was my point in the first place.

That was my point in the first place. "Bifstek" is not really an insult... was just reading about the origins of this - it relates to the English custom of raising and consuming beef better and before anyone else in Europe. And you know France is all about food! I know what you're saying - I'm just choosing not to judge his motivations on this... if his decision is truly wrong, you know, he'll just have to pay the consequences, right? That's very biblical, actually.

Regardless of what the media reports, I find it EXTREMELY implausible that Prince personally "scours" the internet looking for this kind of stuff. If anything, this is probably some convoluted attempt at publicity along the misguided vein of MJ's oxygen tank sleeping chamber story. IF IN FACT he does spent countless hours on trivial pursuits of copyright infringment suits...then HE DESERVES to have his butt kicked on the charts by the likes of Justim Timberlake and (*gasp!*) Brittney Spears. His time would be better spent producing memorable music! By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

Actually, they probably could do that if they wanted to; depending on the copyright laws of that country. The copyright laws of the U.S. are only valid in the U.S. Once overseas, in many place, people can actually do what they want to with music, images, etc. and there would be nothing that could be done about it short of bribing the person(s) to stop, which would be foolish because others would do it to make a buck off the artist. Dude needs to quit is the bottom line. The next thing you know we'll read a headline that says "Prince has posters removed from bedrooms across America" The fanbots on here will say "Well, it is his image and we should get his permission. If he doesn't want them hanging up, we should take them down. I'm taking mine down right now." [Edited 10/30/07 11:54am]

It's a shame such a small person (in all ways) has so much talent. Sorry, skippy, not THAT much talent. He will never get another dime of my money So why bother joining a website dedicated to him so late in the game? You can like someone's music, but still think they are an asshole. I love Prince's music, but sometimes I feel the same way. He does tend to do things with no regard for anyone but himself and sometimes over petty things. You would think that he would have better things to worry about then some baby getting crazy on you tube.

Copyright is becoming a sensitive subject, it is sometimes difficult to draw a line. P has certainly employed people to protect his copyright, but I don't think those people will check with P each time before they take things off the website (I don't think P will have enough time in a day to do those petty things). P may not even know about this video until the incidence has occurred.

It is most certainly NOT Prince that is scouring YouTube and the internet. It is someone hired 2 do so, and if their only "chore" is 2 simply go after anything attached 2 him or his name, then all is game. It's not that Prince personally made the decision 2 go after this home video in particular. I DONT CARE WHO IS DOING IT! I THINK THE WHOLE THING IS A WASTE OF TIME WHEN THERE ARE FAR MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TO WORRY OVER IN THIS WORLD PRINCE. DUDE, YOU HAVE TO LET IT GO - I FEEL YOU ARE BETTER THAN THIS! SEE YA ON THE TOUR HOMIE!

Millions of people dying, being raped, kidnapped, living in poverty but god is bothered if you don;t read the bible and follow jehovah. O.k then Prince; 'the truth'

I think it's wrong for Prince to threaten any people with lawyers. Essentially, we are the hands who feed him. We are the people who have made him wealthy.
And besides, we are the ones who supported his online releases, such as the Crystal Ball online scam, and stood by his side during those dark times in the mid 90's to 2004. I think it's ethically wrong for him to demand so much, most of it not even legally justified. The thing is that Prince doesn't have a big fan base -- sure, some of the masses will pay $31 to see him perform, but we're the ones who will give his new music and his new studio albums a chance. To threaten his small online fan base, his hardcore followers, is pathetic. He should treat us as ... well... Kings. But I think Prince's mind is so warped and he's been alone in Paisley Park for so long, he doesn't understand basic concepts. His mind is so twisted from worshiping a false God, etc. Plus he's getting old and senile. I guess it's like Morris said... "Like father, like son." [Edited 10/30/07 14:42pm] "Don't you think one of the charms of marriage is that it makes deception a necessity for both parties?"
