I've seen lots of rockers pose that way with their guitar. I've seen Prince do it many times. I always thought it looked very cool.

Now I know why I like it so much.. lol

Seriously though, because of nipple-gate and because of Prince's past people were going to keep looking for something suggestive even if they had to make up something.

So now we have shadow-gate. disbelief

It's just jealousy, that's all it is...Prince "rocked" the Superbowl and some of those idiots can't get over it. Somehow reminds me of his song "Don't Play Me". I was told by fans that were in Vegas at the Empire in May, I was there but left for a minute to get something to drink, but I heard he told a story about back in the day when he first started out playing his guitar the things he had to face. Seems like it's repeating itself, but let's face it, he blew just about everyone away at the Superbowl and all the doubters can't get over it, so they are looking for every little thing wrong to find.

All anyone can talk about is the past when it comes to P. They never talk about N.E.W.S. the Rainbow Children or any of the lasting changes that he's made to his life that has affected his music, some for the good and some not. So what he wore pants with the ass out. All I know is that this is how bullshit gets started. All I know is that the music is hot. P has made me think in ways that I probably wouldn't have otherwise. We spend so much time trying to judge. Sometimes we should just "give thanks for every breath we take".
His music has saved my life. P said, "wait talk 2 him. He's coming".
During that time in my life... that line kept me going. There are many more that did the same. So as far as the haters go....GET A LIFE. The world probably wouldn't be in the state it's in.

I.G.G.I.N.N.E!!!! cool

Thanks to Prince’s Super Bowl performance, The Coalition Of The Mothers & Fathers Of Children Panicked That Their Kids Will Wake Up One Day And Discover That They Have Genitalia will be working ‘round the clock to get the following guitar guidelines passed into U.S. law:

1) The guitar shall no longer be played in public such that its neck can protrude uncomfortably outward and upward from the waist region.

2) Playing the guitar at face level remains okay, primarily because this just looks like the beak of a big bird and can be quite witty.

3) The preferred method of handling a guitar will be to lay it flat and play it as if you were tickling a newborn. We think the steel guitar players are terrific role models here, just so long as the guitar is part of a table structure and not laid across the lap.

4) The body of most guitars is too curvy and suggestive of the female form. All curves are to be spackled out immediately. The more rectangular you can make the guitar’s body, the better. A pear shape is also acceptable.

5) We understand the auditory need for the hole in the center, but were seeking for it to be closed whenever the guitar is artificially amplified. We’ve considered mandating a patriotic star shape, but have since realized the potential for abusive visualization here as well.

6) Furthermore were looking into there being a whole lot less hand play in and around this acoustic orifice. But we’re naturally cognizant of the constraints this might put on picking and strumming.

7) No more suggestive faces while holding notes or chords. Such behavior is obviously rooted in masturbation and orgasmic bliss imagery. Anything beyond a wink will be considered rude and/or vulgar and will be open to subjective fines.

8) If one must slide their hand up and down the neck of the guitar, it must be slid slowly enough that no untoward images are ever conjured. Sliding your hand too slowly will be considered sensuous and will also not be tolerated.

Very true, Prince has shown one more time that he is still the baddest. For negative people when they see someone's star rising all they see is a target.

It was just a very cool looking silhouette. It wasn't like he was gyrating or running his hand up and down the thing, lol Sheesh!

Prince's guitar, a phallic symbol? Shocking. When he was shooting fluid from his guitar at the end of Purple Rain, I thought he was alluding to his childhood dream of becoming a fireman with his huge hose shooting enormous amount of life-giving fluid into the insatiable fire of....

All kidding aside, he's used his guitar phallically since forever, but has gotten far less "symbolic", though it's still there a little bit... but only in a conservative guitar hero way.

Besides, America's hypocrisy with sexual imagery is insane. When Janet Jackson had her little accident, it was shown uncensored for days in Canada during the most prestigious, respectable news shows at 6 PM. It was just a breast - generally the first thing you familiarize yourself with after being born, for god's sake.

This is utterly ridiculous!! The thought of the image being phallic never crossed my mind. I think it is a shame that people are so sexually focussed that the slightest hint of anything phallic makes them react. Prince put in a wonderful performance, despite inclement weather. He went at it like a trooper and made me proud to be a long standing fan. If people have negative things to say, then they simply have no idea about this artist and who he is. What about commenting on his wonderful stage presence, his positive messages and the joy he radiates to millions with his music. I can bet Prince had no intention at all of projecting anything inappropriate in his performance. Freud would have a field day with those penis envy idiots that interpreted his performance as being in any way lewd. People should get a life !! Quodos to Prince for giving the best Super Bowl performance ever !! Ignore the haters baby. U rock !!

Geez it just a freaking guitar. I didn't even noticed it and that is how he had always play with his guitar. Those losers need to focus on their lives and stop finding something wrong with his performance. I swear some folks are making a huge issue out of nothing it ain't like the thing was real. I noticed too that since post-Janet Jackson malfunction era majority of the halftime performers are practically covered up so what more do they want? I am kinda upset that the current show I am watching, (yes it airs on that same old folks CBS network) had cut out a shower scene on an upcoming episode in feared of pissing off their middle-aged/senior audience. Wasn't like 15 years ago NYPD had one of the characters show his arse and, I thought that TV would be more progressive when it comes to these type of issues but it feel like we are heading back to the 50s at times in the 00s.
