I'm sure that Prince didn't realize how quickly the show would move in contrast to the traffic. He probably thought he would make it.

I thought it was sweet that Hugh Grant gave Prince an opportunity to take a bow for winning.

Well he should really have been aiming for the START of the show rather than just turning up for his own bit as often seems to happen with him.

As for Hugh Grant, well he said he was ASKED to acknowledge Prince's presence, I assume by the organisers. Sweet or not, he didn't have a choice.

Oh.. Ok. Hugh Grant wasn't nice, then? lol lol I'm glad the organisers of the show thought enough about Prince to give him an opportunity to "receive" his award. That was a nice gesture. The powers-that-be could have punished Prince for having the audacity to arrive late for their awards show by completely ignoring him. But they had some class and took the high road. I guess they may have even believed his story.

As far as Prince being late... well other winners have just not even shown-up or run to the bathroom right before the award. I really don't think it was all that serious. Then a lot of actors/actress use their time at award shows to make their own political statements..when they show up or not. So.. whatever. They're adults. Prince doesn't need to be reprimanded by whomever or ridiculed by Justin for being late. At least Prince was there to cheer-on other people. If Prince as seen as disrespectful, well why are people so willing to give Justin a pass for being equally disrespectful--intentionally or not-- to an artist he is supposed admire? Oh please.. Justin could have taken the high-road, but time and time again, he never does. I think Justin was just joking around, but it was a bad joke. And I sure as heck wouldn't ridicule an any way an artist who was suppose to have influenced me and whom I admired so much at an awards show. To me, it just wasn't a classy move. But then again Justin isn't too classy.

No one is going crazy about Justin. lol lol Just because people are commenting about it doesn't mean we are going crazy. It is what it is.

I'm really excited about Prince's up-coming project and his chance at the Academy Award.

And I hope Prince (and Savion) perform at the Academy Awards as well. I'd really love to see Savion, too.

Apparently prince took the first jab according to an artuclw i found below:

Washington, Aug 31(ANI): Pop singer Prince took a dig at Justin Timberlake during a performance at an Emmy Awards after party on 27th August in Hollywood.

The 48-year-old Purple Rain hitmaker, who took to the stage at West Hollywood's Sky Bar to entertain the crowd at the Entertainment Tonight party, said that he didn't agree with Timberlake's boasts in his new hit single that "he's bringing sexy back".

"For whoever is claiming that they are bringing sexy back, sexy never left!," Contactmusic quoted him as telling the massive gathering.

Timberlake's first solo album 'Justified' was pointed out to be having a Michael Jackson style of singing, including high-pitched shrieks and tight melodies. His singing style in his current album "FutureSex/LoveSounds" is being compared with Prince. (ANI)

Maybe ol' JT was giving prince a receipt!

He won a Golden Globe for PR as well, right, or was this his first one?

It'a s cute song. And I know this bodes well for an Oscar win. But I've gotta listen to the other songs to understand this, because it's not particularly a GOOD song. It's just very charming. I wonder if he's winning just because of who he is.

Not that I have any particular problem with that. mr.green

This is old news. biggrin biggrin

I think there were threads created on this topic. I think Prince was responding to the FACT that so many critics found some similarities between Justin's latest incarnation and Prince.

Honestly, I don't think anything was intentional. But if it was intentional, you think it was OK for Justin to use the Golden Globes national telecast to take a shot a Prince? I just think Justin was caught off guard, and was acting goofy in an immature sort of way. I don't think Justin intended to disrespect Prince, but it just came across that way.

As far as Prince.. I'm really wondering if he would not have been thrilled to be receiving an award from Justin. For some reason, I just don't think Prince would have appreciated it too much, but not for any personal reasons against Justin, per se. To me... it seems like Justin's publicist probably got him this opportunity to present the award, and Justin probably would have used it to mend any hard-feelings--or even just the public's perception of any hard-feelings between him and Prince. I just don't think Prince wanted any part of it of the show or the hype--whether or not there is any feud or rivalry at all. If the organizers of the show decided to give Prince his due, maybe there was some sort of tension? Maybe Prince didn't want to be even put into the position of dealing with Justin or pretending to be nice to him. I could see Prince doing that in a way.

Now this is going to a weird question, but I wonder if there is a sort of backlash against Justin by some artists regarding his treatment of Janet--or just the circumstances surrounding it and his attitude in general? Maybe not.
I dunno. It's probably just a coincidence, too.

Well I am very very happy for my Prince. As for Justin, I think he just felt awkward, it was an awkward moment, not sure if he meant it I'll leave it at that. I like the Golden Globes overall since Jennifer Hudson and Eddie Murphy won! So here's to you Prince, Jennifer and Eddie!

I didn't like the hair at first but the more I look at it the more it seems it's in the process of becoming some variation of:

Firstly; moron - one song doesn't mean I don't like Prince. Jesus christ.

Stop using Princebonics. It's so lame.

U r being a fam, and ur fammy intolerance is grating on others.

I do think the song is shit, and I'm entitled to my opinion. Far better film soundtracks came out this year, Prince is a great big sellout and currently his music sucks imho, so keep your obsessiveness somewhere else and I will stay here because I've been here for years.

I remember he walked over to the VIP area and I believe into the audience and came back around the front of the stage...he sung it sort of in a soft whisper...
