This is making the rounds on the Associated Press ...

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) - Blame the traffic.
That's why Prince wasn't on hand to accept his Golden Globe for
best original movie song, "The Song of the Heart" from "Happy
Feet."
Presenter Justin Timberlake joked about the Purple One's
absence, impersonating the diminutive singer by bending his knees
and offering a silent mock thank you.
When Prince finally arrived, he offered his own silent gesture
of gratitude when Hugh Grant, from the stage, called on him to take
a bow. Wearing a gold suit and a sheepish grin, Prince stood up,
put his hands together as if in prayer, and took his bow.

Cool, I didn't think he'd won, but cool. Does this bode well for the oscars or not? It sometimes seems that the other person wins at the oscars, in this case Beyonce's song.

Have to say though, it was a shame he didn't receive his award in person. Sure he was late, but other people made it on time. You know with Prince he probably left it to the last second to avoid the media scrum outside, and then a tiny bit of traffic pushed it over the edge, so really he can't blame anyone but himself for not setting off a bit earlier.

Congrats to Prince!!! I hope he wins an Academy Award, too. On a side-note, it's too bad that Savion Glover hasn't been given more credit for being the model for the dance role in Happy Feet. Savion is really a genuis. I've read some reviews about about his new tour, Classical Savion--apparently, it's really wonderful. It came through Austin, but I was out-of-town, and didn't have the opportunity to see it.... I hope he comes this way again.

I'm hoping both Prince and Savion perform at the Academy Awards. I have a feeling Savion would be thrilled by the prospect of sharing the stage with Prince. I don't think Savion would be making "short" jokes about Prince in the media.

Brief article about Savion's work being a bit overlooked in Happy Feet.
http://www.rojo.com/story...kR1koMCima

Review of Classical Savion:
http://www.villagevoice.c...47,14.html

I'm sure that Prince didn't realize how quickly the show would move in contrast to the traffic. He probably thought he would make it.

HOWEVER, it wouldn't surprise me if Prince wouldn't have wanted THE MEDIA to make a big deal out of Justin being the presenter if Prince won the award. Then it would have been about Justin and not Prince. I have a feeling that Prince wouldn't want go give Justin any extra publicity. I don't think Prince would have been deliberately late to avoid Justin though. It just worked-out that Justin didn't get his moment to make nice with Prince.

I thought it was sweet that Hugh Grant gave Prince an opportunity to take a bow for winning.

Justin's remarks? Well... whatever. I don't think Prince cares. I do think Justin could have showed more class... and been more respectful if he really admires Prince like he says he does. It just seems weird that the would joke around at Prince's expense if Justin is such a fan. But Justin just shows himself time and time again as being very immature for his age. How old is the guy? Isn't he in his mid-twenties? It just doesn't seem Justin is too awed by Prince at all. If he is, Justin sure has a weird way of showing it. I wonder if Justin joked around about Michael Jackson at an awards ceremony--or Timbaland?

He's just odd.

Well he should really have been aiming for the START of the show rather than just turning up for his own bit as often seems to happen with him.

As for Hugh Grant, well he said he was ASKED to acknowledge Prince's presence, I assume by the organisers. Sweet or not, he didn't have a choice.
