grammys--purple rain, born in the USA, can't slow down

when can't slow down won album of the year, was this like one of the biggest upsets in grammy history? i know most people had PR as THE album to beat, and that if anybody would pull the upset the vote, it woulda been the other juggernaut, BINUSA

I really wasn't expecting Lionel Richie's Can't Slow Down to win the Grammy for Album of the Year in 1985, although it was his biggest and best album. I still think that Purple Rain should've definitely won that vital award that year.

it was a big year for Lionel Richie. He was all over the place and hosted the AMA's as well. S

Yeah, when Prince won, Lionel was shocked. The look on his face when he returned to the stage was priceless! lol
