Hmmm, so why would Prince feel embarrased? Prince has nothing to prove.

P respects Jam & Lewis but feels their artistry is miguided because they "try to make every song a hit". i hope the INDUSTRY is listening. i've still yet to hear the album (Target was sold out and I don't fool with streams or downloads) but the universal praise its garnering will really put the AGEISM theory to the test. if it catches fire and has legs, it'll be like its the 90s and will be the music story of this "new era" about HOW TO, etc. etc. sounds like she's sending bitches back to the lab....

Sheer BRILLIANCE! Good 2c her back with Flyte Tyme (the entire album is produced by Jimmy & Terry) and even BETTER 2 hear REAL music again in this day and age of "artists" who can't even SING, let alone recognize a harmony. Miss Jackson, once again, comes out on top (much like Madonna) showing the ageist world just how little age even MATTERS by turning in a quality package with quality music, honeyed vocals and amazing TIGHTNESS with attention 2 the groove. She dabbles in Funk, R&B, Folk/Acoustic, Soul and a touch of Rock all delivered with her usual smoothness. Although she's buttoned up 2 the throat fashion-wise, she sends a clear msg. that a woman in the music industry need not show tits 'n ass 2 influence sales, etc...I predict another multi-platinum affair!

I hope it has legs despite the industry, but I'm really hoping radio will come around with surefire fare like "After The Fall", "Night" and "Take Me Away".

I know I'm gonna get slammed for this but the one I really hope is listening is Ciara!

But it's kinda hard to inherit the thrown when the queen refuses to kick the bucket.

I wasn't planning on buying this album after finding Discipline, 20YO and Damita Jo to be lacking. But I gotta say, I've got a renewed respect for Jan with this new record. Everything I've heard and seen has just turned me on (not in that way!). I just love how she has returned to making music that sounds like Janet Jackson. No more chasing hits, competing with artists half her age, pandering to radio.

I expected her to come back and go down the HitNRun/Rebel Heart route, embracing EDM techo-dance shit and collaborating with mainstream artists, but for the first time since TVR it really feels like she's made a record that's all about the music. Classy! Only just bought the album, but already loving Burn It Up, The Great Forever, No Sleeep, Unbreakable and Broken Hearts Heal.

Janet intends this album and tour to be the bookend of her recording career. "Discipline" was a much needed step in the right direction but was the definition of "unfinished business" had it been the end. As a fan (and as much as I don't want it to be true) it kinda makes sense.

This new album is the first of her entire career that her brother won't hear. The title track, Unbreakable, is the opening song of the new album. The opening song of Michael's last album was called "Unbreakable."

LMAO! I was actually exercising my strongest willpower to not hit repeat on damn near every song. 1. HOWEVER, I have to say this, I just have tooo...While the album is good, it is definitly not her BEST but ONE of her best. Its not better than Rhythm Nation or Velvet Rope....not even close! I am reading that a lot here and I respectfually disagree. With that being said, Unbreakable is a overall better than (All 4, U, Damita Jo, 20 YO and Discipline) that I will say. So I do think it deserves to be lump next to her legendary albums as among her best but definitly not her best album if that makes sense.

2. Janet sounds vocally AMAZING on this album. She is actually SANGGING like she use to in the Rhythm Nation days and she sounds so beautiful and her voice is so clear. I love her vunerability and emotion in her singing. I have always loved it in the past but it is so refreshing to hear her really let go in a song. Its beautiful.

3. This album is very emotional (it conveys emotion and pulls emotion out of you especially knowing all Janet and her family has experienced over the last 10 years in the industry)I almost nearly a cried a couple times listening to a couple of songs. This is has been the REALEST Janet album we have had in a longggg time. She is really opening up and honest on this album.

4. Favorite tracks:

The Great Forever- This is the best song on the album and one of the best songs she has ever done in her catalog. When I original heard the clips, I knew I was going to love this song. It reminds me of a late 60's pop song. Its SOOO catchy and I love how Janet gets gritty with her vocals and the funky production Oh and that break down I was not expecting that, its genius!

Gon B Alright- This is a CLOSE best second and a dangerously close second best song on the album! Ive read people insist this song sounds like Jackson 5 and I respectfully disagree. This song sounds like a Sly and Family Stone production. I am surprised no one hasn't said this yet. Janet is obviously channeling Sly on this record vocally and I was so impressed and blown away with the influence. When I heard this song I literally jumped off my behind and could not stop dancing I have never heard Janet sound so gritty and funky as she has on this record! Also, I LOVE the message in this song. It makes me feel I can accomplish and be anything I want to be and YES we GON B Alright! This is easily one of the best in her catalog!!! Jimmy and Terry REALLY put their foot in the song

After You Fall- I nearly cried listening to this. People can make what they want from it but I felt she was talking about the media and her fall from grace (impressed with the simplicity of the lyrics but it still envoke so much emotion)

Broken Hearts Heal- Beautiful and I think she was channeling Michael vocally and the production and harmonies reminded me circa 80's/ classic MJ Thriller.

Night- Reminded me of a 80's/90's house dance song. Brilliant production (Jimmy and Terry really did their thing)

Dream Maker- old school Janet, I love the adlibs and background vocals, AMAZING. I wish the song was longer.

Black Eagle- I love the social message and the song sounds like poetry, beautiful.

Promise- this is an interlude but it is so genius!!!I wish this was a song and it went on longer. This really should have been a song.

5. She probably won't get any recognition for it but this is easily the best pop album of 2015.

It is a full song (a bonus track called "Promise of You") on some editions of the album. You should be able to find it!

Is it on the Target edition? I went to a record store to get the album and noticed the album cover was different. I need to get this song, SERIOUSY I have repeated this interlude for over the last 30 minutes.

I was referring to a Grammy nod or some type of award. I don't care about awards but just saying. She deserves a Grammy for this album but I doubt that will happen but who knows. Soul Train will probably give her a nod and an award. They have always supported her. I rather see them give her something anyway. You're right she should cater to adult black radio with the singles. Agree with most of this! I did think of sly & the famiy stone too, along with the jacksons and stevie, and even the janet tour

I feel after you fall is about her and mj but she's put it out there in a tasteful way where she's not using his name to sell you know, cause it's about reflecting on her fall too. And I think great forever is about wissam and possibly dealing with outside forces of islamphobia, but that's just me.

She supposedly released it too late for Grammy consideration, but NO SLEEEP was released well before the Grammy deadline so I'm sure that track itself will get a nod. The album is brilliant and has legs, so it will likely be considered for the 2017 nominations.

I left out shoulda known better but really love that one too, gets me way too emotional though so have to be in the mood for it. She sounds so good, love the words, how she's expressive etc

I think that is why I was nearly brought to tears because I immediately thought of Michael as well. Promise... I just have to have that song in my hands. I am going to hunt for the edition with that song on it, its so genius and eerie. I LIVE for eerie Janet!

The Great Forever- IMO (I havent looked through the lyrics yet) but from what I have heard in the song she is singing about living her life her way despite what the media says or the false things people say about her. She is focusing on her life (family, friends, fans) and that bond that will last forever at least that is what I got from it. Its soooo Brilliant!!!

after you fall is clearly about michael imo, its a very emotional somber song, then she goes right into the upbeat broken hearts heal. the words indicate she is talking about him to me, she refers to him as 'brilliance' and his resilience', all the good he's done, not being able to trust, and at the end when she ask 'who's gonna be there after you fall' she says 'i will'. i think those 2 songs are her direct tributes to him, his influence is spinkled throughout the album.
