We're counting bootlegs? Also, the reason those artists had so much posthumous work released is because they were already legends when they stopped/died.

Sex Pistols is the only one i agree with. Why not count CD? cause it wasn't the original band?

The original lineup with Steven Adler on drums was only two albums. Use Your Illusion 1&2 had Mat Sorum on drums. So did The Spaghetti Incident! lol CD is still a GNR album even if it's just Axl Rose. UYI didn't have the original lineup and is still seen as part of it.

I'm still not seeing what D did though. Nirvana made an entire music genre popular. And they ahd a soung that changed the landscape of music at the time. D didn't do that no matter how much you stan lol

Jimi Hendrix is seen as the greatest guitar player of all time. What is D seen as the greatest in?

D worked nearly 15 years on Black Messiah. Dude's probably got like 12 posthumous albums in the can. lol

Look, all I'm saying is it's stupid to say he's not a legend because he only has three albums. If they were three non-event albums. But his three albums (plus a live album and compilations) have been huge. The numbers game is silly hair splitting. What number makes for a legend? Four? Five? Ten?

No, D invented neo soul. He led the way for Erykah, Jill, Groove Theory, Amel, Lauryn, Bilal, etc. And movies like Love Jones were neo soulish.

But what did D do? besides make good music? i wouldn't say he changed the landscape. Jimi Hendrix changed music with his guitar playing. Nirvana changed music with their sound. Cream pretty much did the same. I don't see much of D's influence around on others. He's a good musician and songwriter. So is Van Hunt and nobodies calling him a legend. Y'all say you don't wanna play the numbers game, But then say artists like Meshello can't be seen as legendary. Cause she doesn't have record sales neutral lol

D is the biggest and baddest of the "neo soul" artists. There's a reason why BM is such a huge deal, and it's not just the delay.

I don't count Chinese Democracy because GNR had its legendary status confirmed before that shit came out. They were legends before Spaghetti Incident dropped. Based on three albums and one EP.

Saadiq invented it? Does Questlove, aka Granny Jenkins, know this? Cause according to him, neo soul was birthed in his living room.

.

D's recording crew has said there were "dozens" of songs recorded in the last 14 years, and these were trimmed down to 20 finalists from which they picked the 12 from.

.

They know how to put together songs. This numbers thing needs to be removed from the discussion, 3 albums is plenty enough to consider the catalogue of work cool

.

Consistency of quality of work is much more important!

Pretty much the history of music. When one artist is credited with starting

a genre or style there's always a chance that another artist actually started it or planted the seeds. Teddy Riley is seen as the father of New Jack Swing but Full Force planted the seeds earlier while Teddy was still in his first group Kids at Work singing bubblegum music.
