Would have been cool to have seen a vid for Threatened, not sure it was single material though.

Especially in favour of Whatever Happens or even the title track.

I think Threatened would have a been a good airplay single. I could see that song being played heavily around Halloween of 2001 or 2002. While I love Invincible and Whatever Happens I don't think they sound really commercial. The only thing that sounds commercial about Whatever Happens is the Santana guitar solo.

Commercial... meh. Stranger In Moscow wasn't an obvious choice for a single, nor several of the releases from Dangerous. A good song is a good song and to me Whatever Happens definately should have been put out. Pretty much everyone I know loves it and they didn't even know who it was until I told them. He could have done with a single like that, take 'em by surprise.

Spike Lee, Malick Films to Premiere in Venice

Robert Redford, “Scarface” director Brian de Palma and “Tree of Life” director Terrence Malick will screen their new movies at the Venice Film Festival, while Spike Lee debuts a documentary about the late Michael Jackson.

The 11-day festival starts Aug. 29 and has 16 movies competing for the Golden Lion trophy. They include Malick’s “To the Wonder,” a romantic drama starring Ben Affleck and Rachel McAdams, and De Palma’s thriller “Passion,” also with McAdams, organizers announced on the festival’s Website.

Screening out of the official competition are Redford’s “The Company You Keep,” with Redford, Shia LaBeouf, and Julie Christie; and Spike Lee’s two-hour Jackson documentary “Bad 25.”

Is it true that no diggity was offered to Michael first.

I've heard that before but I'm not sure. I'll ask around though

Joy was cowritten by Michael. I'll see if No Diggity was. Teddy did work with MJ during that time period and I heard it was so who knows.....

Maybe Teddy said it... shrug I know that after No Diggity became a hit, they covered Billie Jean.

I do remember hearing that also. I remember hearing it was re-produced after MJ rejected the record or something...

Hmm... I know Joy was originally going to be on Michael's Dangerous or something but he decided Teddy should keep it. hmmm Maybe there were different lyrics for No Diggity and the song wasn't even called that when Teddy offered him the song. Not saying he would've done a song like No Diggity in terms of subject matter (I mean he did do Superfly Sister and She Drives Me Wild) but the song didn't sound MJ-ish so maybe it was, like you say, "re-produced".

If it is true, I don't think they offered him the lyrics. I think Teddy only offered him the music and when/if he denied, that's when the music was re-worked and No Diggity was born.

I could see No Diggity working for MJ if it was slightly faster, and it really would have been a hit, that song was everywhere in 96'

I listened to 'Little Susie', 'Scared Of The Moon', 'Much Too Soon' & 'Be No Always' and the 'She's Out Of My Life' demo last night. Not the most cheerful songs, but yeah, some deep stuff can be found amongst his canon. There was a lot more to him than just pop fluff. With all this family crap, just I thought i'd remind you.

Team MJ.

What a hot video! I will never understand why stupid Sony wouldn't like it.

Damn is this video fan made or real? This version being made mainstream would have been a hit, I have it on the BOTDF single.

[Edited 7/22/12 1:42am]

BOTDF was the last Number One MJ ever had in my country (New Zealand)

Yeah I'm aware it was number one in many parts of the world, but not in Canada and the US though I think the single in Canada may have sold a good number of units, but there was no airplay.

That super deluxe set in the leather zip case is online through the official website only. I think all other editions will be distributed everywhere.
