Janet Jackson Dispute: Singer Reportedly 'Furious' Over Niece Paris Acting In Upcoming Film

The Huffington Post | By Cavan Sieczkowski Posted: 07/18/2012 4:20 pm Updated: 07/18/2012 5:03 pm

Janet Jackson is reportedly "furious" that her niece, Paris, daughter of her late brother Michael Jackson, has landed a role in the upcoming film, "Lundon's Bridge and the Three Keys."

Us Weekly is reporting that Jackson "feels it goes against Michael's wishes to keep his kids out of the the limelight until age 18," according to a source who spoke with the magazine.

Paris, 14, landed the role back in December, and aunt Janet has previously expressed concern over her niece entering the spotlight so soon.

"We've spoken about the fact that you're only a child once," Janet told Preventionmagazine in May. "I think there's a time for everything, and now is not the time [to act in films]. I told her I thought she should enjoy being a kid, possibly go to college—or not—but wait till she turns 18. She's a very tough, smart girl. But it's a cutthroat industry. I wouldn't want my child to do it."

During the manslaughter trial of Conrad Murray in October 2011, personal tape recordings of Michael Jackson were released which revealed Michael's unshakable pain over not having a childhood.

"My performances will be up there helping my children and always be my dream," Jackson said in the tapes, as previously reported by ABC News. "I loved them. I love them because I didn't have a childhood. I had no childhood. I feel their pain. I feel their hurt. I can deal with it."

"'Heal the World,' 'We Are The World,' 'Will You Be There,' 'The Lost Children'... These are the songs I've written because I hurt, you know, I hurt," he added.

Although Michael's children, Paris, Prince, and Blanket, lived completely removed from the public eye while their father was alive -- he even made them wear masks and veils when out in public -- they were thrust into the spotlight when Michael died in 2009.

Still, Paris has always dreamed of emulating her father.

“When I was really little, my dad was in the movie ‘Moonwalker’ and I knew he could sing really well, but I didn’t know he could act,” Paris Jackson told Elen DeGeneres in an interview last December. “I saw that and I said, ‘Wow, I want to be just like him.’”

I agree with Janet. Why can't Michael's children simply enjoy their childhood and stay out of the spotlight,at least until they're 18? Katherine should NOT be thrusting them into showbusiness.Michael didn't get to have a "normal" childhood and look at what it did to him.

Just wondering what this article has to do with the letter from Randy, Janet, Tito and Jermaine to the executors of Michael's estate. Seems as if the media are trying to take away from the fact that janet DID sign that letter.

I'm glad that Paris called out her uncle on Twitter today--he deserved it for lying on his mom's health like that. I dont have a problem with her speaking up on behalf of her grandma, she didnt say anything about the bogus letter or the Will, she only tweeted what she knew about--the health of her grandma. Now I'm not a fan of her doing interviews, filming a movie, pursuing show business and chasing after the limelight...but today she did the right thing on calling Randy out on his BS lies. Good for her for standing up for the truth and doing the right thing, even if it meant calling out her family member. At least she can tell the difference between right and wrong, which unfortunately some of her family members seem unable to do. So some folks criticize Paris for calling out Randy on Twitter, but which is worse: her calling out her uncle or Randy/the family deliberately lying about their mother's health and using her to gain leverage in their battle against the Estate?

I have no problem with Paris's tweet (which she now unfortunately deleted) because all she was doing was defending her grandmother from some of her manipulative children. The thing is, some, not all--but some of Katherine's children straight up take advantage of her. They use and manipulate her to get her to do what THEY want. They've done it for years and they keep doing it and getting away with it because she gives into them instead of refusing them. I'm pretty sure she had or has no idea about this letter and that she and her health were going to be mentioned in it. And I think Paris decided that she was going to stick up and speak out for her grandmother this time and not let her be dragged into her own children's selfish tactics and that's why she tweeted what she tweeted. And I say good for her, this probably wont be the last time she speaks out on something she doesnt like--she dont seem like the type to hold her tongue lol. And for the record I am not claiming to know how everything goes down in the family, this is just my humble opinion, which I am entitled to. smile

Not only that but these comments from Janet are old. confused She made these comments months ago so why is there suddenly a story about Janet being "furious" with Paris? I dont see the "fury" in Janet's statements, just her expressing her desire that Paris wait until she's older to pursue show business. Funny how this story just happens to come out in the media just hours after Paris's tweet. Seems like somebody in the Jackson camp is either trying to take attention away from Paris's tweet and/or that Janet did in fact sign that letter which is now causing backlash against the Jacksons. Typical spin & damage control.

She said alot more than just that her grandmother was not ill.

"i am going to clarify right now that what has been said about my grandmother is a rumor and nothing has happened , she is completely fine."

She added, "i'd like to know who made up the rumor… i will defend my beloved family member with all i have , even if it means from other family members.”

Minutes later, Paris sent a new message directed to Randy -- which said, "@randyjackson8 hello dear FAMILY member i don't appreciate you telling everyone things that aren't true thank you very much."

When one of her followers suggested Paris should have respect for Randy ... she replied, "Maybe he should have respect for his mother."

She is a rude little girl. Who does everything to get attention.

You call Paris rude, but I guess your calling MJ fans delusional in the other thread is OK.

"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Oh; because calling your uncle disrespectful in front of millions of people, is the same as calling someone you don't know delusional in a forum of less than a couple of hundred. Right.

Well, this comment did insult me and I think insult is insult no matter who it is addressed to. Hiding in anonymity does not excuse it. Besides, lying about someone's health ain't nothing classy either.

Hold on a minute.. everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Now I cant stand the Jackson Family... CANT STAND THEM and this is really an understatement.

HOWEVER, I still think it was disrespectful of Paris to call her Uncle out like that publicly. I do admire that she isnt afraid to speak up for what she feel is right but this matter is really above her head because to be honest, she minus well have called out Janet, Rebbie, etc because they all signed the letter meaning they agreed to all what was said in it including Katherine having a stroke. I feel if she wanted to talk to her Uncle she should have CALLED him and spoke with him. Not publicly trash him although he was lying mature people dont do that but Paris is only 14. Its rather childish to call him out over Twitter and get the public involved regarding a serious matter. Its not so much her doing it, just HOW she did it.

If it is in fact a lie; then why is Paris, a little girl, the only one who has said anything.

Usually, by now, Latoya would be on Wendy Williams or CNN.

So you think deliberatly lying about his mother's health and using her for leverage in his delusional battle against the estate isnt bad but Paris sticking up for her grandmother and calling him out for lying is. Well ok.... confused Imma say this, if Randy saw no problem publicly "leaking" this letter to the press and publicly lying about his momma's health, then he shouldnt have any problem with being corrected publicly by his 14 year old niece. Why jump on Paris for what she said when Katherine's own lawyer also disputed the Katherine in poor health claim publicly as well? Again I applaud Paris for having the conviction and the guts to stand up for her grandmother. Randy and the others siblings should be ashamed of themselves for participating in this whole fiasco.

Paris later added: "At this point I don't care what people call me or if they think I'm a bad person. If it means sticking up for my grandmother, I will do it." thumbs up!

It's MJ fans who are all up in arms over this letter.

You guys are so patronising. You enjoy and thrive off MJ's siblings supposedly doing greedy things.

You say, that the executives can't be bad because Michael hired them. Well he also hired Conrad Murray.

You guys, including Paris, look REAL SILLY now.

@JermaineJackson

Sadly, TMZ reflects a rush to judgment on Twitter that grasps at face-value information...and truth and context suffer

As Paris tonight clarified, she earlier rushed to end Twitter talk that Mother is ill TODAY, but Paris didn't expose any "lie" as claim

The truth is that Mother DID suffer a mini-stroke some months ago. She is fine now, but the timeline doesn't alter the fact it happened

I changed stupid to patronising before you even made this post. I don't think in the four months I've been here that I've ever called people stupid.

As for the delusional comment, I did not specifiy it to anyone on this board. I merely said that some MJ fans can be so delusional.

And perhaps you are right, I should leave this thread. I made my point that people couldnt just assume that the Jacksons are, quote 'lying' & 'liars', and Jermaine has proven me right. Good day, sir.

lol No we dont and no she doesnt. Of course Jermaine is going to claim this, he's a part of this whole fiasco and he signed that tacky stupid letter! Do you really think he is going to admit that the claim of Katherine having a stroke is a lie? Get real! And since when has Jermaine been known to tell the truth anyways? Paris lives with Katherine. She sees her everyday. I'm pretty sure she would know about her health and whether or not she had a stroke. If Randy and them were actually telling the truth, she wouldnt have said anything. But they lied and so she called them out. Jermaine is just trying to save face. #TRUTH!

Open Letter in Support of Michael Jackson’s Estate

Michael Jackson’s fan base is aware of derogatory statements made by certain members of the Jackson family, against the executors of his Estate. We are shocked and saddened that propaganda, rather than seeking avenues to address their concerns legally, have been used to gain sympathy. While we most certainly support the beneficiaries of Jackson’s Estate, Katherine Jackson and Michael’s children, we equally support the executors, Mr. John Branca and Mr. John McClain.

Jackson’s fans understand that the task both Branca and McClain took on when Michael died was staggering. Weighted in nearly $400 million in debt, with an overwhelming amount of pending lawsuits, the Executors took the reins of the Estate and went to work.

Posthumously, the Executors have ensured the highest grossing music documentary of all time, This Is It, two successful albums, the number one tour in the world, Cirque du Soleil’s IMMORTAL, sold millions of Michael Jackson The Experience video games, and are planning a huge release for the 25th anniversary of Jackson’s legendary Bad album. Although every fan does not agree with all decisions the Estate has made, we agree that overall, the Estate has done well in preserving Michael’s legacy. In addition, we agree with the Estate, that “false and defamatory accusations grounded in stale Internet conspiracy” do nothing to promote the positive ethic Michael Jackson espoused while alive.

In three years, Jackson’s Estate is thriving, nearly debt free and Michael Jackson’s music is still at the forefront of the music industry. We wholeheartedly support Michael Jackson’s final wishes; that he trusted both John Branca and John McClain to continue his message through his music. The Michael Jackson fan base thanks the Executors for continuing to do just that, with grace and dignity.

Sincerely,

MJJCommunity, MJJUnderground, MJJJusticeProject, United4MJsLegacy, MJ Fans of NYC, MJ4Justice, Justice4MJ, TributoMJ, MJTruthNow, MJNation, SOMJ, Canadian MJ Fan Club, The Jam Café, Michael Jackson Vindication 2.0, Stop Global Airwave Abuse

You guys, including Paris, look REAL SILLY now.

[Edited 7/19/12 10:27am]

lol No we dont and no she doesnt. #TRUTH!

Paris did not deny that Katherine had a heart attack. She just said that her mother was of fine health - which as Jermaine also stated, she is now.

Paris was obviously just woried that people might question Katherine's ability to care for them, and mostly likely heard that Randy said what he said through Twitter rather than via the letter.

Sincerely,

falloff falloff You MJ fans sure do think highly of yourselves; like you have any jurisdiciton over anything related to MJ's estate. Dead. falloff

Once again, I repeat, you couldn't possibly know or have even an idea of what is going on.

I also repeat, that the executives did not take on this job out of their own good will! It was easy money. 10% of the 500 million went to them! And you praise them. Once again, I am astounded.

No.

It's MJ fans who are all up in arms over this letter.

You guys are so patronising. You enjoy and thrive off MJ's siblings supposedly doing greedy things.

You say, that the executives can't be bad because Michael hired them. Well he also hired Conrad Murray.

Sony AEG are at fault.

I don't get it, why wouldn't fans be pissed off about the letter. The letter is disgusting considering they have done nothing to enhance Mj's name and legacy themselves.

And for the record, this is one of the few times where I wish the fans were wrong. I find all this constant drama with the family depresssing.

All they're doing is playing into the "All we care about is money" stereortype like everyone expected.

Why do you feel the need to take down MJ fans? You seem pretty aggressive on all MJ related threads, if you dont like the fans or MJ then perhaps you should move along and do what makes you feel less aggresive, it's not good for your heart to be angry lol.... All fans are the same regardless of artist, because we have the interest of the artist.
