Madonna is not a good singer but she is a notch better than Rihanna. Check out Sooner or Later. I think Janet sings better than both though and although she has limited range, sh has a more versatile voice.

For the record I'd like to state that 'Ray Of Light' is my favorite Madonna album (by FAR!). The songs 'Music' and 'Don't Tell Me' are amongst my favorites from her as well. But I don't believe that American Life, Confessions, Hard Candy and parts of Music are as good as the rest of her catalogue overall. That's just my opinion, though, and everyone is entitled to their own.
As far as all those albums being number one, I stand by what I said before. It's easy to have a number one album these days. It used to be a major achievement - career defining even. It doesn't really hold any meaning anymore.

Madonna used to be a chubby little thing but during Like A Virgin she got in shape and has been there ever since. No weight fluctuations, no weight loss commercials, no embarassing before and after pics. Madonna has her career and given birth to children. She has famoulsy adopted more.
It won't make her a better dancer, choreographer, lipsyncher, or plastic surgeon's creation but the facts are the facts.

No, I think that with the re-release of the Teenage Dream album (an album that had 6 top 5 hits), she will tie Rhythm Nation's 7 top 5 singles. The Teenage Dream re-release has that new #1 song called "Part of Me", making it 7 top 5s between TD original and TD re-release. Although now that I think about it, technically, you could say that the TD re-release is a standalone album, and as such, it only has 1 #1 song. Either way, Katy had to do a re-release in order to get 7 top 5s. Guess her "people" weren't satisfied with her tieing MJs record, so they had to come for Janet's too . Anyway, Wikipedia still says RN is the only album to have: "seven commercial singles (that) all peaked within the top five on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the first and only album to achieve that feat," so that's what I'm going with . AND? Rhythm Nation was, is and will always be a culturally significant and iconic pop album, and how old it is has absolutely nothing to do with it. It not only won a slew of awards (most notably netting Janet 10 Billboard statuettes in 1990), its 7 top 5 singles is a feat unmatched by any album in history (I take back what I said about Katy Perry's album, because her Teenage Dream re-release is a different album than the Teenage Dream original release). Only Thriller and Born in the USA come close--both of those albums have 7 top 10 singles. RN helped to usher in New Jack Swing, and it turned out classic video after classic video. Even now, 23 years later (as you so dutifully pointed out), people are still paying homage to it...

A good debate can be fun so long as all parties understand that it's nothing personal and we will probably NEVER agree. Often times you may even learn something about the topic at hand or the person (people) you're discussing it with. But when it gets super heated it's silly. If it's not something you would say to a persons face, don't say it online. And I know people get all in a bunch about that, too. "This is exactly how I would talk to you in the real world", or "this is how I talk to people". To which I say, yeah right!
