While I do feel that MJ's fan base is huge but as far as hardcore fans go, Gaga wins.

Nope. Not even close.

No other entertainer except crazy ass Michael fans would have people releasing DOVES at their trial for fucking child molestation. NOBODY. That right there topped it all for me lol .

Doves?! Doves? Seriously.

I include myself in the fanbase as well as i'm a huge MJ fan but even I was taken aback, like "wtf"? Gaga has crazy fans, but Michael fans are by far on another level of crazy and devotion. I can't see any other entertainer having fans quit their jobs, sell their homes, etc. as MJ fans did to come out and support them every day at a court house as many MJ fans did for him. I can't imagine any other entertainer having this much support especially for such serious allegations as the ones Michael was accused of.

The thing that always amazes me is that Michael has had a huge, devoted fanbase since the 70's. I doubt Gaga will have a crazy, devoted fanbase waiting outside of hotels for her, camping outside of her home and following her when she's in her 40's or 50's like MJ did.

Madonna is really one of the very few older stars who still has a huge, dedicated fanbase, but MJ's fans have always been on another level.

No one comes close to their (or "our" shall I say) level of crazy imo lol .

I personally saw nothing wrong with what those fans did with the doves. It was...out there...to say the least, but nothing too abnormal. Then again....I just might be jaded and not shocked by anything anymore, considering I've been part of the fanbase for so long. lol

And yeah...the devotion back in 2005 is unbelievable. And it's still going strong I'd say. Not as unified as it used to be, but still there. Michael Jackson is just that powerful.

Madonna's aiiiight and her fans....are okay with me. Lady Gaga's fans are just psychotic though. And not in the charming way. lol

She hasn't died yet. I'm sure tons will after her death. Expecially some of her gay fans. For some of them, she's the only the reason they're not dead.

So from adage - we can assume that the Bad album launch will be sometime in late May.

Not too far off.

So it got me thinking - surely if there is some action soon on Bad25 they would have a website...

and....

http://www.bad25.com/

Now I don't know if this is an official site or not but....

Billie Jean and Wanna Be Startin Something have extended mixes on their LP singles and a bootleg album that came out in the Bad era including those two

for Bad, the Bad extended mix, one with a false fade, the other just extended, plus the Smooth Criminal, The Way You Make Me Feel, Leave Me Alone ones (this one is on a single) are great. There is also Another Part of Me extended on the Visionary single of Leave Me Alone, awesome!

Dangerous era: Who Is It Patience mix, Remember the Time New Swing, In the Closet Club mix come to mind right now. I think the Jam one I liked was Brothers in Rhythm but I can't remember.

BOTDF: Fire Island mix of the title track is great, and the Ghosts mix on the HIStory single

will help you more later

It depends. MJ has been a constant in a lot of people's lives since they were born. For a lot of people they may have had rough childhoods but their love of someone like MJ was the one thing that was always there. I assume anyone who committed suicide over MJ's death might have been in that situation.

Lady Gaga has been famous for about 3 years. Give her another 20-30 years and then there may be crazy adults who have only ever had her as a fantasy role model for their entire lives. Madonna on the other hand never really had that special connection with her fans. I reckon any crazies around have her pity more than anything.

Exactly. That was my point. Let me see if Gaga will have this crazy following when she's in her 40's or 50's like MJ did. She's only been famous a few years so it's not that impressive to me. Justin Bieber has insanely obsessed fans as well but I'm sure that will die down in the next few years.

My point is that it's very hard to keep your audience interested and maintain a big, hardcore fanbase like MJ has. Michael had these types of fans and lots of them for his entire career.Of course there will still be Gaga fans who love and adore her in 15 or 20 years, but I guarantee it will not be on the level of MJ. The adoration for Gaga will die in the next few years or so. She will not have as extensive of or as hardcore of a fanbase that MJ had when she's in her 40's or so, definitely not.

Neither Gaga or any entertainer could have gone through as many scandals as MJ did and still maintain a big devoted fanbase like he did. No way.

Here's the thing. A lot of people have grown up with MJ. He was and is the soundtrack to many people's childhood's. People of all differenct races, ages, religions etc. connected with him. Gaga has nothing like that. It's not even comparable. Michael had something very special about him and had a true connection with his fans that i've rarely seen.

-Anyway, I saw Cirque Du Solei last night and it was awesome! I laughed, I cried, I cried some more lol. I MISS HIM SO MUCH. I was just waiting for MJ to come out on stage but of course that couldn't happen. I so wish I could have been seeing him in concert instead of a tribute sad. Anyway, I thought the show started off a bit slow, but it definitely picked up later on. Highlights for me were "Smooth Criminal", "Dangerous", "Human Nature", "Thriller", "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" and "Black or White". It was just a beautiful tribute to MJ as an artist and a person. I loved it.

I really wanna see it again!

"And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ heart

I'm not sure how much information you need.. do you want a complete list of remixes/demos/outtakes, etc? do you need to know where to find those songs [what albums/singles they're on]? Are you asking for which ones are the best? I'm not sure exactely what you want to know, but...

Off The Wall

Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough (Demo) [on Off The Wall [2001 Special Edition])

Working Day and Night (Demo) [on Off The Wall [2001 Special Edition])

She's Out Of My Life (Demo) [on This Is It]

Sunset Driver (Outtake) [on The Ultimate Collection]

Rock With You (Alternate Version) [on early pressings of Off The Wall]

Off The Wall (Remix) [on Off The Wall [Single]]

Off The Wall (Junior Vasquez Mix) [on Stranger In Moscow maxi-single]

Rock With You (Masters At Work Remix) [on Rock With You Visionary single]

Rock With You (Frankie's Favorite Club Mix)

Rock With You (Frankie Knuckles Radio Mix)

Rock With You (Extended Version)

I recall there being remixes of "Don't Stop...", but I can't find any info on them. I'm sure somebody else can give you more information, but since only one other person replied so far, this is what I know. I can do the other albums later.

Here's the slightly different original mix of "Rock With You", in case you're not familiar with it..

In Bad originally the horns were throughout the whole song, they changed it so the horns were onlt at the end.

With Smooth Criminal there used to be breathing at the beginning and the bass was stronger.

Wouldn't be no different than many songs that were revised here and there for singles purposes. Q or Rod or even MJ thought "something's amiss here". I love the one with the handclaps.

The problem I have with it is that they act like it was never changed. They don't label it as remixed or revised or anything.

Technically I can't even call RWY a "revised" version. Only thing that changed was they add claps. shrug Get on the Floor was revised a little differently than the one on the original album. Whereas the ending didn't include Michael shouting and yelling, the revised version features him shouting and yelling.

I disagree with that I dont think Gaga fans are the same as MJ fans. MJ has LIFE LONG fans. He has fans that grew up with him, been to his concerts, camped outside his house, hotels just to see a glimpse of him. Michael has been harrassed nearly jumped by his own fans.. NO artist out today has experience that. Gaga can walk freely to a restaurant if she wanted to.

Michael could not do that.Michael couldnt even walk a fuckin RED CARPET which he rarely did.. come on now...

There are several versions of the album cuts now.

OFF THE WALL was originally released on CD as it appeared on the album. Then in a reissue they included the version that has the overdubs on tracks like Rock With You, and Get On The Floor.

I don't believe Thriller re-releases contained any overdubs or alternate takes.

On BAD the original CD contained original versions of all tracks.

Subsequent releases had the following changes:

"Bad" original mix was replaced with the 7" Single Mix. The most notable difference is the lack of horns in all the choruses except for the last two. Horns are also missing from the second and third pre-choruses. The rhythm guitar during the choruses is also turned up along with the hi hats.

"The Way You Make Me Feel" uses the full length remix used for the single with louder vocals and ad libs added to the end replaced the original album mix.

"I Just Can't Stop Loving You" omits Michael Jackson's spoken intro.

"Dirty Diana" is replaced with the single edit of the song.

"Smooth Criminal" went through two changes on the album. It was remixed to make the kick drum heavier and the bass synth fatter. The quick-sequenced synclavier behind the bass has been rendered mono as well. The first version of this mix left the breathing intact, but was later removed after some time.

DANGEROUS - No changes.

HIStory had two notable changes:

They Don't Care About Us - the revised edit of song taking out lyrics deemed offensive.

HIStory original release had a different intro. The subesquent releases had a different intro.

Can anyone remember the number of books that Mike owned? I remember that Messarau talked about it during the trial. I can't remember the exact number, but wasn't it over 100 000?

ahhh wep.... i tried but it didnt work(they closed my thread) so ill post in here

===================================================

I personally feel that its such a shame that MJ is soooo underrated as a vocalist. It seems like people get so caught up in the dancing, clothes and overall spectale that it the king of pop, that people forget one of the main things that has made him stand out from the beginning.. HIS VOCALS!!!! I think on vocals and showmanship alone, very few IF ANY can f*ck with him.

(I know this isnt posted in the sticky.. SO PLEASE do not come in here with the BS!! If you cannot contribute to the discussion.... STAY OUT!!!!!!!! thanks biggrin )

these are exerpts from an article where a vocal coach talks about having to teach MJs voice for a play.

What is most challenging about singing for this part?
I don’t think I have ever taught anything more difficult! To play the part of the young Michael Jackson you have to have extraordinary vocal stamina – I mean, you have to constantly change vocal qualities, from belt to head-voice to fast riffs and falsetto, and reach up to high G’s and A’s.

Has training Jean Mikhael given you a window into the talent of Michael Jackson?
I’ve always thought that Michael Jackson was an absolute genius but this experience has certainly shown me that he was a genius on every level. He pushed his voice – even at a young age—as far as it could go. Coaching a young singer to replicate the vocal gymnastics he was capable of was quite an eye opener.

From a coaching point of view, what was it that made Michael’s singing so magical?
He was able to combine, as no one had before, an incredible range and vocal athleticism – with vocal runs that parallel opera greats – and an intuitive feeling for shifting vocal qualities within a single song.

Is some of this magic available to all vocalists?
Yes. For Michael what came first was his connection to the text and emotion of a song. His voice served to express his passions and beliefs. He could shift from a low, velvety tone to a high falsetto or high belt in an instant whilst retaining the musical phrase and the integrity of his expression. Riffs and ornaments were used to serve the emotion he was trying to convey, they were not used to simply “show off”, and he sang simple, beautiful phrases as well as exciting ornamental ones. Any singer can learn and improve on these qualities but with Michael it was a gift. Jean Mikhael has this gift as well.
