As I said it woulda been cheesy if they had played it in church, on tv it is fine. For lotta people in there her music career mighta been secondary to her personality, nobody wanted to sing one of her songs, guess why?

Anyway, this is my opinion!

No it wasn't cheesy at all.

As for Aretha....I'm not gonna hold her cancellation against her...But Cissy asked her in advance to sing and Aretha KNEW she wouldnt be able to do 2-shows @ Radio City and drive to NJ...

I'm sorry but her priority as a Family friend should have been to make it to the service. People have talked about how Aretha is FAMOUS for canceling shows. One would think she would have done this one last thing for Cissy and re-scheduled her concert @ Radio City...

Wow Aretha......You made a bad Call on this one...

See I thought so. I still wished something could had been worked out for him to stay. According to his statement, sounds like he really didn't start any trouble, but rather left to avoid being blamed for causing any. disbelief Damn, sad all around.

I haven't heard Bobby's statement yet. Maybe it's just me, but I think it was cruel to ask Bobby to leave the funeral. Granted, I don't understand why he came with a full entourage, but I understand that he needs support too. Seems like the entourage should have left and waited in the car or just left, recognizing that Bobby needed to be there. Maybe he opted to leave. But to ask him to leave, that's not right. Whitney is gone now and treating Bobby like dirt, regardless of what they may think of him, isn't going to bring her back.

A beautiful sendoff for Whitney.

What was wrong with Jesse "Rhyming Man" Jackson? He looked like he wanted to cut Madea's nuts off.

It was nice that it was held in a Church and televised.

I kinda thought Clive was going to sing "There's No Business Like Show Business" and "The Greatest Paycheck Of All".

It's nice to have a day of positivity before they go back to reporting on the various struggles that Whitney had.

The Winans are family friends of the Houstons and Pastor Winans was invited to preach the sermon.

He spoke as an invited guest speaker.

Didn't watch the funeral but I do want to comment:

From the pictures I saw of Bobby and his "entourage", it was actually Bobby's family. Bobby from what I can tell didn't look pissed, he's obviously still in grief and he probably agreed to walk out if Cissy felt uncomfortable with his family being there.

We don't really know the full details. Of course CNN, every other news outlet and the tabloids are having a field day saying it was Bobby's "boys" when it really wasn't. Bobby was with his brother, his own children (Bobbi's stepsiblings), and his fiancee/mother of his two (I think)-year-old son.

As for Al and Jesse... I washed my hands of these fake ass preachers/"activists" years ago. bored2 Of course they're always trying to be the "star" of the show like they did at Michael's funeral (and James'). But apparently Jesse didn't speak up lol I don't recall Al speaking up either and it seemed Marvin Winans was showing out the entire time so there was no need for Jesse and Al to be there.

Aretha cancelling her appearance is actually kinda telling. Who knows if it was because she couldn't break away from her schedule or she wasn't so brokenhearted that she couldn't sing at the funeral. Her people claim she was "exhausted". neutral

As for Clive Davis... fuck him.

My heart does go out to Cissy and Bobbi though. They got a long road to climb. Cissy has had to deal with a lot though. Her ex-husband's death, her cousin Dee Dee dying, now Whitney. And Bobbi, Lord watch over that child...

They just showed his statement on CNN and it wasn't an entourage, it was his kids that he had with him and security asked him to move 3x! And to top it off when Bobbi Kristina came in security blocked him to speak to her so he decided to leave and I would have done the same.

Statement via Bobby's rep...

“My children and I were invited to the funeral of my ex-wife Whitney Houston. We were seated by security and then subsequently asked to move on three separate occasions.

“I fail to understand why security treated my family this way and continue to ask us and no one else to move,” he said. “Security then prevented me from attempting to see my daughter Bobbi-Kristina. In light of the events, I gave a kiss to the casket of my ex-wife and departed as I refused to create a scene. My children are completely distraught over the events. This was a day to honor Whitney. I doubt Whitney would have wanted this to occur. I will continue to pay my respects to my ex-wife the best way I know how.”

Kim Burrell and the Winans family are big in American gospel.

That's was Whitney's sister in law.

I thought she was singing with someone else and that Kim was there with them? Not sure on that.

Marvin Winan was a singer before becoming a minister. I could be wrong on that. He was singing after he spoke.

The pastor of the church never got the chance. Not a slight, just the way it worked out. In another situation, (Sunday, non televised service) after the pastor and choir finished the he would have let the pastor of the church do open the door of the church, do an appeal, pray and dismiss.

But no slight in this situation.

I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

That's just low and despicable to do that to someone's ex husband and the father of their child. I don't care what went on, Bobby and Whitney had profound love for each other but drugs and their egos played a cause in its downfall. Bobby still didn't cause Whitney to fall off. If her family did this - I can see Dionne doing this instead of Cissy for some reason - they need to be ashamed of themselves. I didn't wanna say anything when CNN and TMZ was trying to be pro-Whitney and anti-Bobby just to spite him. So I'm glad Bobby released his statement. But of course someone always gotta be pegged the "bad guy". They shouldn't have been worried about Bobby, they should've been worried about "Mr. Let's Carry On The Show While My Former Client's Dead Body Is Upstairs" Clive Davis. I liked what her bodyguard had to say.

He stated that she was in the hotel room listening to Fred...Resting up and getting ready to perform that night...Cissy & Dionne talked to her and said she sound sober and fine...

They need to rush on the toxicology results because we need to know exactly what happened to Whitney...There's a strange cloud over her death and that needs to be put to rest...

Cissy spoke with her about 20 minutes before she went to take a bath and Dionne two to three hours earlier. They both have said she was fine and not upset or stressed about anything.

I think the confusion was because they were only expecting Bobby to bring 2 people instead of nine and they were trying to accomodate more people than they expected, so it sounds like some kind of misunderstanding.

It probably was, who knows? neutral I don't know about "only bringing two people". No one, it seemed like, really told Bobby how many people he should bring so that added to the confusion. Least he kissed his wife's casket and left in peace.
