OWN: OPRAH WINFREY NETWORK REMEMBERS WHITNEY HOUSTON WITH TWO HOUR SPECIAL THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 16 AT 9 PM ET/PT

Los Angeles, CA – In memory of Whitney Houston, OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network will present a special two hour “Remembering Whitney: The Oprah Interview,” with the music legend's last in-depth television interview from “The Oprah Winfrey Show” to air this Thursday, February 16 from 9-11 p.m. ET/PT on OWN.

This special television event, what is arguably Houston’s most revealing and compelling interview of her career, will be rebroadcast as Winfrey reflects on her personal memories of the iconic superstar and shares with fans the magic of a musical icon who has gone too soon.

In September 2009 for the "The Oprah Winfrey Show" season 24 premiere, Winfrey sat down with Houston for a special one-on-one interview. After nearly seven years since the world heard the music icon's voice, Houston gave an intimate and poignant performance of “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength.” She shared only with Winfrey the private struggles she tried to hide from public view and discussed openly about her marriage to R&B star Bobby Brown, her struggles with drug abuse and why she retreated from the spotlight. Opening up to Winfrey like never before, Houston also spoke candidly of the day she left her husband, her sorrow over the death of Michael Jackson and her hopes for her future.

The clip of El is just..... eek .....then it gives u chills. Tears fell because that moment was powerful, a silence that spoke volumes....ugh sad

Kim Burrell is a freaking beast with the runs...I like her a whole lot, and I just love EVEN then Whitney prompts everyone to fucking stand. She got this all of the time, with all the turmoil and bad decision, WE loved Whitney! I never understand the kicking someone in their teeth when they are down. Whitney had an addiction AND????? I was so hoping she would get that monkey off her back. I was soooo hoping she would just shut folks up! There was many times I would sit my boyfriend and go through video after video watching clips on youtubes FOR HOURS. They is a certain note that she use to hit that I thought was magic, and I loved her quirky leg kicks when she was feeling the song.

IWALU & IL2U will never ever be the same when I listen to it. This so sucks for me as a fan, mother and daughter.

sad

Yeah, I'm sure it WON'T be as self-serving as the one she did about MJ rolleyes

Her body is not even cold yet, and all these quasi-tributes keep popping out? People are rotten sometime, I swear.

Somebody in another board said this:

Somehow I feel like Ray J's people are just trying to distance him from the situation but I wonder...

Not even hating on the cat, but the initial report of him being there sounded really detailed and then his publicist issued the statement saying he "was nowhere near the scene." Sounds like damage control to me.

Granted Whitney made Dolly a mint on that song, but I'll take Dolly subtle nuance over Houston's any day of the week. To me she ruined that song. sad

Every time someone says that, I laugh. Thanks for the laugh -- I needed it! biggrin

Whitney sang the shit out of that song...but let's pay respect to the one who wrote it and laid it down originally....Dolly's carries much more emotion imo.

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Someone said an autopsy was completed but wouldn't reveal the cause because they had to wait on toxicology reports.
