Someone said an autopsy was completed but wouldn't reveal the cause because they had to wait on toxicology reports.

Thanks

I didnt watch that either. I still cant believe she had the nerve to do one after all the crap she said about Michael. I cant remember the last time Ive watched Oprah on t.v.... I dont feed into her bullshit.. I'll remember my favs my OWN way not no corporate brainwash bullshit.

I don't know why the Jacksons still mess with Oprah. Katherine even let her in her house after all the shit she talked about her son. Janet does interviews with her, Jackie went on a "date" with her. disbelief

I don't understand it but I guess it's their call.

Oh I understand it alright!

That family is crazier than a fish with a pair of titties, it ain't old news. Their FATHER, the head of the family, was promoting his own label and his new discovered talen in his OWN son's funeral. Nothing will outcrazy that moment for me. Those are some wishy washy mofos, and they really showed who they are after MJ's passing.

It's a sad time for music lovers, because she was one of the greatest vocalists of the past 30 years and that type of talented wont be duplicated. She inspired millions of people around the globe with her fantastic voice and she made it possible for female artists to dominate the charts, like Mariah Carey and chrstina aguilera. She had grace, beauty and talent. She will be missed and believe it or not, some of us never judged her and always wished her the beat of luck and wanted her to have a great comeback. I don't understand how outsiders who don't know these celebrities can judge and redicule them, as if their lives are perfect when in fact you will find imperfection in all humans. RIP Whitney and let's remember your impeccable vocals!

I KNOW! I know this thread isnt about Michael but I am so done with Oprahs manipulation and fakeness. I dont know why the Jacksons kiss her ass after all the hell, backstabbing and bullshit she did to Michael. I remember she did a whole program on child molestors and insinuated that Michael was one. disbelief

Before that interview with Katherine occured all the fans were trying to find answers from some of the familys members and Taj Michaels nephew said the family was aware of the nasty things she has said about Michael but still did the interview eek eek

disbelief

Not a Harpo fan, but to her defense, Nippy was never an easy interviewee, she was always on the defense when it comes to folks nip/tucking her personal life. Eversince her relationship with Robin, it ceased being about her music and it became more about what she does behind closed doors.

Wendy Williams: So Whitney, as far as you stand, with drug use, is there drug use going on at this present time?

Whitney Houston: Who you talkin' to?

Wendy Williams: To you, Whitney, you.

Whitney Houston: No you're not talkin' to me. I'm a mother. Only my mother has privy to that information. You talk to your child about that. Don't ask me questions like I'm a child. You talk to your baby about what her, what she has to deal with.

Wendy Williams: Well I...

Whitney Houston: Don't ask me questions like I'm a child because I'm not a child, Wendy.

Wendy Williams: My child is a little boy and I will talk to him about that.

Whitney Houston: Well talk to him about that shit. Don't talk to me about that shit.

I bet Dolly Parton wasn't even imagining what impact the song would have when she wrote it. Even though it was overplayed for its time, Whitney's version turned a simple country ballad into a pop standard.

Granted Whitney made Dolly a mint on that song, but I'll take Dolly subtle nuance over Houston's any day of the week. To me she ruined that song. sad

I like Dolly's duet version, but Whitney's is peerless.

Suggests to me it's accidental.

What was in her stomach and what was in her bloodstream.

So no evidence of foul play. We realized that much. (Coroner)

I’ve been thinking a lot about how something like this could happen to someone so talented, and why others of incredible talent dodge this bullet. Last night, as I heard the news of her passing, it was difficult to reconcile the memory of her as a luminous, insanely talented singer to who she became towards the end of her life. I think I had always explained someone like Billie Holiday or Edith Piaf’s addiction as a result of their incredibly difficult childhood (and perhaps I thought that that pain and suffering somehow made their music resonate more deeply for all of us that was touched by their voice). But Whitney didn’t have that pain in her past, so far as I know. Why, then, did she self-destruct?

Here is the best explanation I can come up with right now. There are some people who, when they perform, come close to God/Transcendence/Spirit. Maybe even they merge with this, and something bigger than them sings/performs through them. I saw this when I lived in Zambia and attended church there, I have seen that most recently in seeing Prince perform. We see that in Whitney. Jimi Hendrix is a perfect example of this, Santana, Eric Clapton. Some saw this so strongly in John Coltrane that they started a church here in San Francisco. I’m currently reading a book, Musicians in Tune, that discusses musicians transcending while playing.

I don’t know the link between this and drugs: if drugs makes the doors to transcendence more open, or if it helps those “normal” moments when you are not transcending, and trying to figure out your sense of self (ego) when you are idolized not for who you are but for what moves through you. People who have this connection are both literally blessed, and in a way cursed, because sometimes the intensity of what they experience is bigger than they are (more than their sense of self/ego can handle). And they turn to drugs, or an entourage of people who say “yes”, to try to balance this all out.

There are likely other things at work here: like someone who is creative and thinks outside of the box might be more open to drug experimentation, and someone who has a personality where they singularly devote themselves to a craft in order to master it perhaps would be more likely to have that focus when it comes to other aspects of living, such as drug use.

I think the best example of someone who is supernaturally gifted but not lost in drugs is Prince. He seems to balance the intensity of his gift with religion; he is a devoted Jehovah’s Witness. If Whitney had stayed rooted in the church, would that have made her more grounded and prevented her addiction issues? How can a community best support a person who has such a huge gift?

fascinating and I think has some truth. All the greats touch the divine. that is what I meant in an earlier post when I stated how she didn't seem particularly well spoken or anything. But the gift she had, i don't see how anyone could deny that.

OWN: OPRAH WINFREY NETWORK REMEMBERS WHITNEY HOUSTON WITH TWO HOUR SPECIAL THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 16 AT 9 PM ET/PT

Los Angeles, CA – In memory of Whitney Houston, OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network will present a special two hour “Remembering Whitney: The Oprah Interview,” with the music legend's last in-depth television interview from “The Oprah Winfrey Show” to air this Thursday, February 16 from 9-11 p.m. ET/PT on OWN.

This special television event, what is arguably Houston’s most revealing and compelling interview of her career, will be rebroadcast as Winfrey reflects on her personal memories of the iconic superstar and shares with fans the magic of a musical icon who has gone too soon.

In September 2009 for the "The Oprah Winfrey Show" season 24 premiere, Winfrey sat down with Houston for a special one-on-one interview. After nearly seven years since the world heard the music icon's voice, Houston gave an intimate and poignant performance of “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength.” She shared only with Winfrey the private struggles she tried to hide from public view and discussed openly about her marriage to R&B star Bobby Brown, her struggles with drug abuse and why she retreated from the spotlight. Opening up to Winfrey like never before, Houston also spoke candidly of the day she left her husband, her sorrow over the death of Michael Jackson and her hopes for her future.

Yeah, I'm sure it WON'T be as self-serving as the one she did about MJ rolleyes

Her body is not even cold yet, and all these quasi-tributes keep popping out? People are rotten sometime, I swear.

ya, reading how the party still went on turned my stomach, really turned my stomach. People call me antisocial but I'd rather hang out with my cats than other people. People suck.
