I'm interested in that story too.

The song was co-written with Paul McCartney, so it's definitley OTW/Thriller era.

Paul discussing MJ buying the musical catalog in 1989

LMFAO @ 1:20-1:25. Paul thought MJ was playing. He swept that catalog right from under his ass!

Delay in Michael Jackson tribute gig announcement

MICHAEL Jackson fans were left disappointed last night when a press conference to reveal the line-up of artists to perform at the Cardiff tribute show was called off.

Organiser Global Live Events had planned to announce the headline acts – said to include some of the “world’s greatest artists” – at 6pm yesterday in London.

Michael Forever – The Tribute Concert was announced by some members of the Jackson family last week, but its complicated ticketing system, which involves making a donation to charity, has been criticised by fans.

Two of Jackson’s brothers, Jermaine and Randy, have also distanced themselves from the October 8 supergig at the Millennium Stadium.

They believe the timing is “inappropriate” as it will be happening at the same time as Conrad Murray’s trial – the doctor charged with the superstar’s manslaughter.

Global Live Events last night promised an announcement confirming the line-up would be made today.

Its president, Chris Hunt, insisted “preparations are in full swing”.

He said: “We are hugely excited to say we will be announcing a fantastic line-up, featuring some of the world’s biggest music acts.

“There will also be more headline acts announced in the days to come.”

Jackson fan Daniel Robertson, of Gabalfa, Cardiff, said he would still register for tickets but was concerned by the delay.

He said: “For me, the concert is not about who is going to be there; it is about paying tribute to Michael.

“But I am a bit concerned by the fact they have not announced anyone yet.

“Does this mean they are not getting the names?

“I would like to think they would have released a couple of big names just to keep things going.

“With all these kind of events you usually get the main headline acts announced before you register for tickets.”

Okay, so in regards to Remember This Night cowritten with Paul McCartney...

From the TGIM/The Man/Say, Say, Say sessions in 1982??

Just a song submitted from McCartney like Girlfriend?

Any other leaks of information about this song? Like is it a ballad or more uptempo?

Looks aside - I love MJ, but I always thought that whole thing with him and McCartney and the Beatles songs was fucked up of him to do. You don't buy the livelihood of someone you claim to be your friend, right from under them. And yes, I know MJ warned him and that McCartney had a chance to get the songs himself. I just think MJ should've completely been like 'hands off', about those songs no matter what, that friendship and doing what's right should've trumped everything else.

He thought he didn't have to pay so much something that he has created (with Lennon) and that didn't excuse his "friend" for stabbing him in the back.

Could be a midtempo song (a la The Man) but no one knows. I'm positive the song was recorded.

The MJ/Paul irony is that, as we all know, Paul introduced him to the whole idea of buying publishing.

Paul and Yoko were given first offer to buy them - and they both individually and collectively said no. Paul thought they were asking too much.

So if he wasn't going to buy them, then they were for sale fo anyone to buy. MJ saw the value and snapped them up.

Paul was just annoyed when his request for a bump in royalties was declined. But I didn't see him bumping the royalties of the songs he bought for the original composers.

If you want to read a detailed history of the deal - and the role MJ and Branca played in buying the catalogue - then I highly recommend reading the book "Just Another Northern Song".

Looks like, despite some media reports to the contrary, Katy Perry didn't score the #1 in the Top 100 charts this week so hasn't equaled MJ's feat.

I think the confusion is over the fact she topped the pop charts this week with TGIF (her 5th off the album) but not the Top 100.

She has a fifth No. 1 on the Pop 100. Not Hot 100. That was the confusion. That's two different charts actually. For some reason I think that song's peaked on the Hot 100. #2 or whatever will be all it'll get to.

I see what you are saying with Militants problems with it growing up. Don't get me wrong, it exists and I have personally witnessed it many times...but I think we have towns and cities that are more of a melting pot and people live side to side. Yes there are areas that seem to be more segregated but I sometimes think the US seems like a ticking time bomb in some areas. I guess if you are brought up around people of different cultures you just think it is the normal and everyone else is strange lol
