Elton John becomes a dad

Piano man to diaper man: Elton John becomes a dad

Sir Elton John is holding close a new tiny dancer.

The piano man and husband David Furnish have become parents to a 7-pound, 15-ounce baby boy born on Christmas Day. The news was first reported Monday night by USMagazine.com and confirmed to The Associated Press by John's Los Angeles-based publicist.

Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John was born in California via a surrogate, whose identity is being protected by the new parents.

Zachary is 62-year-old John's first child with the 48-year-old Furnish. The couple married in 2005.

In a joint statement, the new parents told USMagazine.com that "Zachary is healthy and doing well" and they are "overwhelmed with happiness and joy at this very special moment."

I'm grossed out by the narcissism of Elton John having a child at age 63. Just cause you can doesn't mean you should. And of course they just had to have their own genetic spawn, they couldn't adopt. Terrible people, really. This is really a perfect example of children as bourgoise accoutremont.

I actually have gay foster parents, too. So my criticism is certainly not about that.

I would not use your words, but I agree with most of what you are saying. And I want to add that IMO surrogates are a not a good thing any way. Why is it necessary to have a child that has your genes? What if the mother cannot come to terms with not keeping the baby even though she originally thought she could. And what about the feelings of the baby who might never meet his mother.

With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

I don't think I'll ever want a child but if I ever did, I'd want it to be my own.

There's nothing wrong with adopting but there's nothing like having an extension of yourself to carry on after you're dead and gone.

Plus, he's at the perfect age to have a child. By the time the child gets in those late teens and early 20s (the age that they give the parents the most hell), Elton will be older and will be spaced out on so much meds, he won't notice the shit. Plus, he's got a younger lover that would have to deal with those rebellious years instead of him. Hell, even call the little devil's mama to come over and straighten his ass out if you need to. lol

Elton and David tried to adopt but they couldn't for various reasons. I hate how judgmental people are. Why can't you just be happy for them and their new baby?

Except that without actually boning one of these dudes, it's just speculation. Speculation that prevents the org from simply wishing congrats to somebody they SUSPECT is "in the closet" who just became a father.

All I said was congrats, Coco. I surely don't give a fuck what Shaffer does in his private life. Same with Elton. I think he always wanted to be a dad but his career got in the way plus he was addicted for a good period so I'm glad he's at a place now where he feels he can finally raise a child and raise him the right way. Props to Elton & David.

I have no problem with those of us who are in the closet or even those that I suspect are in the closet because we all have to feel comforatable with ourselves before we accept ourselves and come out. As long as a closeted person keeps their trap shut and isn't saying or doing anything against us, I'm fine with them. But if they are badmouthing or holding us back in even the slightest way, I believe in busting them out with a vengence. evillol

As for Yo-Yo or whoever he is though, I didn't even comment on his thread because I know nothing about him and it looked like a dull topic.

yeahthat He is too friggin old and I do think this is more about acoutrement and accessorizing than actually wanting to parent. They've been together 12 years. They could have adopted a long time ago when they were younger and more able bodied if they really wanted to be parents. They could have adopted older kids too. I'm not cool on the whole "rent-a-womb" trend and kids growing up without mothers. This is too Mommy Dearest for me.
