Congrats going out to Ne-Yo and girlfriend Monyetta Shaw. The couple welcomed their first child, a girl, on Friday.

Their little bundle of joy came almost two months early (she was supposed to be due in January) and we hear they'll be having her baby shower, which was planned for today, at the hospital instead!

Ne-Yo was apparently at a charity event for his foundation in Atlanta when he received word that he was about to become a father, and reportedly had to rush to the hospital. Luckily, he made it on time to welcome his baby into the world.

Sounds like he's already loving fatherhood. He tweeted today: "Much luv to my twit fam and everybody showin' luv to my new addition! She's healthy and happy. Feels like I'm in luv for the first time."

Also, I was under the impression that he was gay!!!

1) Just because she's "plain Jane" looking to you, doesn't mean she ain't drop dead gorgeous to him. I think she's beautiful btw.

2) A lot people are in good healthy relationships and have babies..which they then get married afterwards. Who's not to say that won't happen with Neyo and his girl?

3) He ain't gay, and he never was. Respect the man and his sexuality. He is straight!

BUT, let's do like Pebbles and give him the benefit of the doubt.

If he isn't following the tradition of Howard Hughes, Ricky Martin and a deceased fellow who shall remain nameless, and using a beard and turkey baster to make people think he is straight, then why didn't he marry the lady before the birth of the child?

Not to be all "Leave It To Beaver-ish" but if a lady has your child she deserves to be your wife first. (I know, I know - tell that to Lil Wayne.) I'm just saying.

Yes, this is 2010. So what's wrong with marriage in 2010? Ponder this. If marriage is outdated because of high divorce rates then perhaps parenting is also outdated because of high rates of child abuse and neglect. If it were somebody else, say a Weezy or one of those other hood fellas i wouldn't care because I know that's how they roll and that's how they grew up - broken families. But Ne Yo is supposed to be a middle class type of guy so I can't help but wonder why he would do what every other rapper is doing...knocking up some chick. My gut tells me that he's protecting his money by not marrying her. Now if all these rappers, ballers, and balladeers (sp) would fess up to that strategy I wouldn't say a thing....out loud that is.

Now maybe he will marry her later.....like when the kid is ready for highschool and there are 4 siblings by 3 other baby mommas.

There could be many reasons why Ne-Yo didn't marry the mother of his child prior to her giving birth. He may not have felt the need to get CLOSER to her and maybe she isn't SO ONE IN A MILLION. It's totally possible this isn't a real relationship anyway he may have bagged her after one of those CHAMPAGNE NIGHTS. He could also believe that she is not IRREPLACEABLE. Only they know for sure.
