My God, you talk utter shit.

I recall the endless threads where you claimed he would mime the whole tour because he couldn't even hold a note anymore and that his voice was ravaged beyond repair.
You weren't just referring to his vocal stamina - you had completely written him off and this clip proves you wrong.

Wow! After I just busted you on the "Calling Liars To Account" thread you're actually dim enough to start your dishonesty again. Pay attention. I'm going to report FACTS right now. Not opinions, like you. Verifiable facts.

Firstly, about a month before MJ died I had a LONG debate on this subject with SWA (a hardcore MJ fan). I wish I could remember the title of the thread so I could post a link, but I'm sure he remembers it and can confirm what I'm saying. Like you, he didn't seem to understand what I was saying, so he asked me to SPECIFICALLY boil it down. He then quoted back what he thought my main point was. The quote was pretty much EXACTLY what I just said here. "Michael can only sing in short bursts and even then it's not as good as it used to be". Do not take my word for this. Orgnote SWA and ask him. This is FACTUAL. If you dispute it, you are disputing FACTS.

Another thing I pointed out a million times was that Mike's voice declined the more singing he did. I said this SO MANY TIMES that if you say you can't remember it then you will be LYING BLATANTLY (something which I've already busted you for in that other thread). On EVERY ONE of his solo tours the miming increased as the tour went on and the voice deteriorated. Again, I have to stress this is a fact, not an opinion. If you are honest you'll admit it.

Lastly, another thing I said on the same thread when debating with Suga10 was that Mike's voice was so ropey that it would often go from okay to terible within the same night or even the same song. Since (unlike you) I like to back up my claims with FACTS I would point your attention to the MSG gig in 2001. Mike started with "Can You Feel It" and sounded really good. Yet on the very same night he did this... http://www.youtube.com/wa...UM80eCDlW4 It's part mimed, part live. In the live bits he sounds AWFUL. I think (again if we are being HONEST) we can agree on that.

And just to further illustrate this INDISPUTABLE point I would draw your attention to this. http://www.youtube.com/wa...TPT9EBPBh0 He doesn't sound great in the first verse, but he sounds passable, yet in the second verse he sounds ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. But on the acapella bits on the end he sounds decent. This is all within the same song. Passable to awful to decent within the same song. Now, if I played you a 30 second clip of the acapella bits at the end you would say "Aha! His voice sounds okay! There you go. He's fine! No vocal problems at all!". But someone who is more knowledgable than you would say "Hmmm, need to hear a bit more than that I'm afraid". That person would be LOGICAL, since a little fragment cannot tell you the whole story, as I've just proved BEYOND ANY QUESTION with the two examples I just gave.

Let me also add that there are quite a few bad notes even in that little fragment (which is probably the best fragment they could find).

Amen.

Totally agree with you.

If you were to buy a book about Michael's music...say, like a guide to his catalog, what would you want included that would make you want to buy it?

Are you talking about music book? Piano? If so I just ordered another one, a big black one. When it arrives and I remember what's in it I'll let you know what's not in it, that I still want.

There are indeed a few folks that just like to give it to the more hardcore fans and wind them up....But let's not blanket everyone under the same banner....There are some folks who genuinely have a problem with over the top and at times disturbing fandom whether it comes from MJ, Prince or Madonna fans...

It just so happens that the more hardcore MJ fans, especially in wake of the tragic death of a true legend (Michael Jackson) have presented themselves at times as a bit off the deep end...Of course, there's a respectful way to say this without putting all hardcore MJ fans under the same tag...

Agreed. But don't forget janet fans as well.

Nah...Janet fans are not even on the same level....They are quite normal as regular fans go....Most fans are passionate though....But there are other levels of fandom that are baffling....

LOL....hilarious in what sense?...you know that treating Mj like a bubble gum , plastic pop artist reached its lowest point on this board and its getting ridiculous

Nah...I just think that you are going a little off the rails, homie...I don't see anyone on this board specifically saying that MJ's Off The Wall, Thriller , Bad (not one of my favorites, by the way...but I like a few joints off it), and Dangerous albums were bubblegum or showed MJ to be a bubblegum act...Anyone listening to those albums would never say that....

However for a lot of folks that followed MJ early on, there are plenty of people who might feel that Mike's own obsession with being the biggest pop star on the planet did affect the "grit" and the "soul" of his work...They may point to the G-rated ET album; his kid-friendly film (Moon Walker); and some of his child-like songs about saving the world that, while well-meaning (the man did indeed raise millions of dollars for kids), did indeed show a naive, simplistic understanding of the world...So it's not as cut and dry as you are making it out to be...Even with all of his brilliant performances (there are plenty...and I'll go to bat for Mike in this regard everyday...), I don't think anyone could dismiss the fact that later on his career he became a family-friendly act...

seeingvoices12 said:

some of you African Americans and Americans in general should be proud that MJ was the only western artist that his music reached to every race, language and culture

Who said we are not proud of MJ?...lol...

seeingvoices12 said:

you can't influence the world with plastic pop music like many prince fanatics are saying, Mj was alot of things, despite his death people still refuse to give him credit.

Nah...I think MJ gets a lot of credit...In fact, since his death, people have been saying postive things about MJ that I never heard while he was alive...It's even become fashionable to say that you are a Michael Jackson fan...lol...Remember, how it was a year ago; even 7 years ago? Wherever MJ is, he has to be getting a kick out of that shit...RIP...

Plus, you ain't gonna tell me that prince is a hell of a composer lol , He is a great lyricist I agree, he ain't on MJ's level composing-wise. Prince tends to shock you with his lyrics , but as far as melodies and compositions , I’m sorry, the majority of them are big are not strong enough.

LOL...Nah, I just think when it comes to Prince you are not listening with the right set of ears.....But on the real, saying who is the best composer is just an opinion, right?....All I know is if it's 1987, and you told both Prince and MJ to go in the studio by THEMSELVES to compose and record a song, then I think the question may be answered...

Prince is a guy that could make a straight-ahead pop song ("Raspberry Beret"); a groundbreaking groove with intelligent lyrics ("When Doves Cry") could shock with wild lyrics ("Head"); and then make a haunting, sophisticated compositions ("Condition of the Heart," "Joy In Repetition," "I Love You, But I Don't Trust You Anymore")....I think in this regard he had a much more mature approach to writing songs than Mike...But hey, MJ went for the homerun of popularity most of the time...This allowed him, through his music, live performances and especially through his music videos, to connect with a cross-cultural range of folks....

MJ was a cold, quenching bottle of Coca Cola on a blazing, hot day...Prince was a roller coaster ride that never seemed to stop at the place that you thought it would...

I really don't understand when you said " I just think when it comes to Prince you are not listening with the right set of ears" confused eek , when I hear a great song I will say this is a great song regardless of the artist and you know it lol I think its safe to say that Prince music catalogue is flawed , Full of Unnecessary albums and lifeless forgettable songs while MJ was nearly the opposite , I was desperately looking for a great memorable melodic song in the last recent prince albums, there wasn’t I realized that prince was never about the melodies and compositions ,he cares more about the lyrical content structure of a song, stop inflating prince talents as a composer lol , I have ears and I can judge from what I hear… the songs titles you posted are good but far away from real great compositions like “Billie jean”, “stranger in Moscow” , “ who is it” ..to name few…

More prolific=more albums =more mediocre music=more forgettable songs.

And dude, if you have been following Mj threads on here in the couple few months you would know what am talking about, some folks have been on a mission to discredit any aspect of Mj as a professional artist, to the point some said that he can't sing....I mean, it doesn’t’ get more ridiculous than this……….

Prince is amazing, a genius musician, so is Michael Jackson …this is a fact that some folks here need to deal with, for some prince fanatics to shit on mj to make prince the superior one is ridiculous……

Its always nice to debate with homie murph….respect. nod

What's forgettable to one person may be a gem to another. I'm with Graycap on this one, I'll go with Prince's catalog any day over MJs. At least there's a wide variety to choose from. Where to me, MJs stuff all sounded pretty much the same.

To put it short: just because MJ sings live on ONE single song on a directed video , doesnt mean he remains an artist.

He did lypsynch on his last two tours, trying to compensate that with choreography and 'fireworks' (little kids, video-screens, masks, other nonsense).

I REALLY don't get why you keep defending MJ for offering detached, prefabricated fake live-shows. I guess that JUST because you grow up with the guy being a succesfull afro-american is enough for your defense, right?

I don't know what Afro-american has got to do with it??? But anyway now I'm going to shower so a demani.

Thats a nonsencical accusation i have noticed before: MJ fans whining about Prince fans who live in the eighties.

First, Princes musical legacy in the eighties is much bigger and more important then that of MJ of course. biggrin

Second, i am not obsessed with it. For me its not about MJ vs Prince or visa versa at all. I have a very broad taste of music, and get rather annoyed by black americans whining about that issue, when there are so many other artists whose music I dig.

To be honest, the constant whining here about MJ, Janet Jackson, El Debarge and Rick James is pathetic. You keep being obsessed with artists from the past, just because they have seem to 'coloured' your afro-american or gay life, while ignoring all the great artists (black, white, yellow) that came after them.
