Can't say they did. At first the general buzz was "I can't ever see Michael doing that, he's too much of a kid". When he SETTLED tho, that's when some folks were like "wow, maybe he DID do it". Then when 2003 happen, they were like "he's at it again!"

i just remember 03 and I was like eek , it was so random.

He was heavier in 2003. Even in the Bashir interview in the Miami part, he looks a bit fat

He looked better here...

But not that that much better...

They were released in 2005. Some woman named Glenda who is believed to be either Janet's friend or backup dancer was friends with him and her husband thought that she was having an affair. So he hired a private investigator and the phone tapes were recorded without their knowledge. David Hans Schmidt was the one who got the tapes and exposed him. The full audio was on his site but he died in '07 so we can't get it unless the people who bought it then release it. The tapes were on youtube but they got deleted.

Shock is the only word to come up when we heard the allegations. I was 9 but I remembered the hysteria.

what was going on with the hysteria....similar to the chris brown drama? can some older fans answer me on this.

I felt like it was a setup at first. Michael started acting all bizarre so we didn't know what to believe. Then he started entertaining little boys, and even came on t.v. confessing, that he likes for little boys to share his bed. I tried to believed he was innocent still, though his actions was creeping me out. Later on he got accused again, and that was it for me. Everytime you saw him, he had a little boy who was white, blond or dark haired as his companion by his side. eek

Jacko was chubby here! At least he was at a healthy weight!

This causes me to question. & he did have sex before marriage I think. Because Donald Trump said that he and LMP stayed over at his house once and didn't leave the bedroom. & Magic and the Madness claimed they did before as well. Also Lisa told Howard Stern that she wouldn't marry someone who couldn't sexually satisfy her. Maybe Michael didn't count the relationship with this girl because he knew it would never go anywhere because of her arranged marriage. I dunno.

La Toya Jackson won’t be ‘Dancing’
She says she couldn’t do the reality show so soon after her brother’s death

updated 4:44 p.m. ET, Thurs., Aug 13, 2009

La Toya Jackson won’t be putting on her dancing shoes this season.

“I’ve been approached to do ‘Dancing With the Stars,’” Jackson told Access Hollywood’s Tony Potts exclusively on Thursday. “The fact of the matter is, I won’t be doing it, simply because of the circumstances that (are) going on at the moment.”

The singer, who was three years older than her late brother, Michael Jackson, who passed away on June 25 at the age of 50, said she can’t even think of joining “Dancing” while so many questions remain unanswered regarding her brother’s death.
Story continues below ↓advertisement | your ad here

“I can’t see myself putting myself into there right now, dancing every single day when I’m still trying to find out what exactly happened to my brother,” Jackson said. “That’s the most important thing for me at this very moment.”

However, she said her mother, Katherine Jackson, would have loved to see her on the ABC reality competition.

“I love that show,” La Toya Jackson explained. “It’s not only one of my favorite shows, it’s my mother’s as well. They had on television that I was doing it, and she goes, ‘Oh honey! Is that going to be you?’ I go, ‘Mother, that’s just a rumor.’ She just perked up! We watch it together.”

And while “Dancing” isn’t in her immediate future, another reality competition might be.

“I would love to do ‘American Idol,’” Jackson said. “I would love to be a judge on that show. I think I would do well with (Simon).”

But for now, Jackson is focusing on carrying on Michael’s legacy. She spoke with Access while spending the morning honoring her late brother by volunteering for AIDS Project Los Angeles, speaking with doctors and patients, handing out food and more. Jackson also recently released her single “Home,” the proceeds of which go to AIDS Project L.A.

“It means a lot to be down here to be able to provide something, to help the people that really need this the most. It’s one of the causes that my brother supported, so I’m very, very happy to be a part of this and to continue that for him,” she said. “I feel like I’m fulfilling his wishes.”

Copycat

Remembering Michael
by Don Cornelius

The word got around that these kids from Gary, Ind. — next door to Chicago, where I was working as an announcer — were amazing. A lot of the local recording artists were being told, "If these Jackson 5 kids are on the show that you're contemplating [doing], don't book the show because they will kick your ass." That's when Michael was 6 or 7. I got to know their father Joe Jackson accidentally — or I sought him out, I can't remember; it's been a long time. Most of the guys I worked with at the radio station did some moonlighting as stage-show promoters, and I found a venue and decided to do one. Joe was nice enough to give me the group. That's how I met them and first got to know Michael. He was about 8.

Michael epitomized the incredible lead singer that most major groups tend to have: the Miracles with Smokey Robinson, the Commodores with Lionel Richie, the Temptations with Eddie and Dennis.

Joe Jackson had figured out that that was the formula: he had the spectacular lead singer who could do every step that James Brown ever demonstrated. Michael was just a killer onstage. That's the first thing you noticed. He knew his way around a stage; he commanded the whole operation. (See Motown's top five songs.)

He had a star quality, even as an 8-year-old. He was such a lovable individual. If you were backstage, you saw the women who happened to be on the same show, and they just kind of adopted Michael. They were always hugging and kissing and rubbing him — it went on and on, more than almost any other kid could possibly bear.

I'm sure Michael got tired of it, but he never complained. They were all over him. As time went on, he sort of fell in love with Diana Ross —her music and her singing — and I think it was mutual. She fell in love with him also. He was still only 9 or 10.

With a guy who's that young, you don't try to project how good he's gonna be 'cause he's only 4 ft. tall. You're looking at a small person who can do anything he wants to do onstage — with his feet or his voice. To get to the level of people who can do that, you're talking about James Brown as a performer.

You're talking about Aretha Franklin as a singer. Or Stevie Wonder or Donny Hathaway — people who were renowned for being able to do whatever they wanted to do with their voices. Michael was like that as a kid. As he began to evolve, you could hear Diana in his singing. You could hear Stevie Wonder. You could hear Marvin Gaye. You could hear Smokey. Once he put it all together, you wouldn't hear anybody imitating him, because he just had too much going for him as a singer. He was the man.

The younger guys coming up used him as the standard. If there's anyone to use as the standard, to shoot at, to compare yourself with, it's Michael Jackson.

I think MJ was a virgin the early eighties, when he was still with Jehovah's Witnesses. He quit in 1987, so maybe things changed later.

of course. earlier in that year he did the oprah interview which was meant to counteract the backlash in the press which had been building since the time of tthriller. it had reached an fever pitch by '93. with the allegations, the media was in seventh heaven and it was the beginning of the tabloidization of our our media in general, i think. no one was off limits, including president clinton.

The beginning of tabloidization? Go back to the aftermath of Elvis' death, THAT'S when it stated. Michael was complaining about the tabloids as early as 1984 and of course we knew about the "Leave Me Alone" video.

well, of course there were tabloids. i should have been clearer and state that there was a clear demarcation between tabloid media and legit media. it hasn't been that way since at least this 90s scandal with mj and has continued on.

That's true but I actually remember being five and six and seeing the National Enquirer, the Globe and all that junk in supermarket aisles and I remembered when Hard Copy came on the air, that was like what TMZ became later online.

Not me, I always thought he was doing something, post 96 or so. He just didn't look right in the eyes. I focus on eyes, the eyes tell everything and Michaels hadn't been clear in years. I didn't know what he was messing with but I knew he was doing a lot of something. During the Bashir era, the performances of the early 00's in which he would stare at the floor and cover his nose, just totally looked unhealthy and as if there was shame in him. I remember the Geraldo interview as the last time he was somewhat clear eyed and I remember being a little consoled by that because I knew he had to have a clear head to deal with the trial. It was being out of his head that got him in trouble with Bashir I think, He couldn't see that he was being set up. The People around him though, are excuseless, they should have watched out for him better. The Bashir interview was likely the nail in his coffin. We can all sit back and talk about what he should or could have done and what we would have done better, that's easy. None of us can even really concieve of the everyday madness that he dealt with for years and years, I would love to see how some of you would have handled it. I'm only mad at my man because he hurt himself and i want to see my man do well, I don't really judge him for it.

popularity is probably the same or moreso now but it was a positve obsseions then and now people are remember what a talent michael was and then u have this crazy stuff in the news thrown in people's face so that's not really a a positive popularity

Bigger in what way? I happen to think the one thing that America is stuck with is the one thing that they never quite gave him in life, and that is that he was an absolute pop genius. That his death has cemented that fact in a way that they begrudged him, the media, the public, the critics, his more casual fans; his extraordinary talent. Now people will look back differently "what was Michael really saying" and they will be forced to say "what a genius".

There's going to be some shocked folks when the toxicology report is released and there was next to no drugs found in his system.

My belief is that he hadn't been using in awhile, had no tolerance and hadn't built an immunity up to drugs he'd previously been used to taking, he was overdosed, it's possible a small amount can kill a former addict who previously might have taken a large amount of drugs.

So, a horrible 'accident' ultimately. That's the sad thing, he wouldn't intentionally do something that would have left his children fatherless. I really do think Michael thought he was safe in what he was doing. sad
