That´s Melle Mel. Who is Clayton Savage? The dude singing the main vocals ?I always thought that this was a Furious Five performance. I have this on a Furious Five cd. Obviously it was a collabo between both.

Sounds a lot like Prince, doesn´t it? They also made a song called Sign of the Times after Melle Mel and Grandmaster Flash split the group.
The chorus went like "Siiiiign of the Times, can really blow your miiiiind."

Good times, back then. Early 1980s,ca 1986.Or maybe 1985. Definitely before Prince´s song of the same name.

Clayton is doin the main vocals. He went with Mels faction after the split , and produced Step Off and some other jams. Sign Of The Times was Flashes faction from 1986....

I googled him and discovered his website. Cool guy. Never really paid much attention to him back in the days when I was a Melle Mel fan because I always assumed that Melle Mel and the Furious Five were the singers of this song.
Turns out that Clayton Savage was the man behind most of the music and the singing.
I was probably too young to check out the background info back then. The internet is a great thing.

Here´s his website. I really dig his website and also his current music.Check it out:
