Shows like Unsung should be mandatory viewing for any up and coming artist. There once was a day when VH1 or MTV would air something this interesting. Where/What the heck is TV One?!

If you got Time Warner, it's channel 101, other than that, maybe you can ask bboy if you have Comcast. DISH doesn't have it.

thanks

Perfect example, he starts asking his question at 0:33 and doesn't finish until 2:23. This nucca talked for almost 2 minutes. He does this all the damn time and I can't stand it. shake

spit

C'mon now baby, he was reading snippits from Dr.West's book,,,,that don't count.

BUT now I see what frustrates you lol his interviewing tactic is kinda overwhelming .

lol Some of that was the quote but most of it was him interjecting how they talked about it in private before, yadda, yadda, yadda. Don't nobody care fool, AKS the damn question already. hammer

I think its deeper than that.

Anything that makes a grudge last THIS long, must be something more crucial than "you're a dancer, you can't sing".

Jody and Howard's beef seems to go real deep-it seems to be more than the usal personality clash. I wonder if ole boy tried something with Jody and she wasn't having it or if they had something going on and it went bad.

In my case maybe it's because I saw her career/life in "real time" ... nothing new. As far as Shalamar listened to their music but didn't pay them a lot attention.

Why in the hell do they only put good shows on the channels that only come on the higher priced cable systems? This is the type of show that should be aired on BET. But instead, they'd rather play dull shit and turned into "Bullshit Entertainless Television".

Damn, Howard Hewitt is looking horrible nowadays. He used to be one of the sexiest entertainers out there with that hairy chest.

I recall a 1995 interview where she appeared really bitter. When asked about a Shalamar reunion, she said that she would never participate.According to her,Howard was a cruel dictator who once told her that she would never make it as a solo act."Then when I won the Grammy for Best New Artist in 1987,he didn't even call to congratulate me",she said.

Howard appeared on one of our local radio stations several years ago,and he too was asked about a Shalamar reunion. He said that he and Jeffrey Daniels want to do it,but Jody is holding out.

Babyface tried to bring them back together for his 1996 single "For The Lover In You" but Howard and Jody didn't even record their vocals in the same studio together. It's unlikely that we will ever see a reunion.

woogiebear

Three things here.....
1)Dick Griffey taught Suge Knight "the game", and then Suge SHIT ALL OVER HIM!!!! The earliest Death Row Recordings (including "Deep Cover") were recorded
at Solar Studios

2)Howard & Jody probably had a "thang" goin' on. Howard was a "Pretty Boy/Playa Muthafu**a, and did her DIRTY!!!! She hasn't forgiven him yet!!!!!
and
3)Other than "Take That To The Bank" no one REALLY gave a sh*t about Shalamar UNTIL they got Howard Hewett, who was something for the ladies to look at other than the late great Bobby DeBarge!!!!!
cool cool cool

I ask myself this all the time, but BET and VH1 gave up on it's older audiences (say over 20 w/ an IQ of more than 3) a long time ago, so more adult interest programming went to the less commercial places. IOW on the more expensive packages. Never fear tho, if you can't see it on cable, someone will upload it to YouTube.

Yeah but they should all let bygones be bygones. This kind of stuff happens
to some groups and they work it out. Even if they don't ever tour together
again, they should talk and squash and say you know what shalimar was
something special. It was bigger than we were. We had memorable songs
that the fans still identify with and we should be appreciative. I heard
Jody on the Warren Ballentine show this morning and since he was such
a jody fan he did her a favor by not really asking her questions about
Shalimar. She did talk briefly about her decision to leave the group and
she talked about sexism in the industry.
