A woman believed to be Jennifer Hudson’s mother, Darnell Donnerson, was found dead in her Chicago home on Friday, according to various news reports out of Chicago.

Two adults were reportedly found shot to death inside the home on the south side of Chicago. When contacted, a spokesperson for the Chicago Police Department confirmed “two people were found unresponsive in the home.”

Although police would not confirm the identities of the victims, police said the shooting involved one male and one female victim “believed to be related to Hudson.”

Police confirmed the victims were discovered around 3 PM local time.

The address of the home belongs to Jennifer’s mother. According to CBS 2 in Chicago, a rep for the family’s church, Pleasant Gift Missionary Baptist in Chicago, confirmed Darnell Donnerson, 57, was one of the victims.

Jennifer, the former “American Idol” alum and Academy Award winner for her role in “Dreamgirls,” was in Florida at the time of the incident, according to WABC-TV in New York. She is now reportedly en route to Chicago.

Not only has her mother and brother been shot and murdered, but now there may be kidnapping charges involved. An Amber alert has been issued for a 7-year old boy that is her nephew.

This is so tragic and such a huge shame. My condolences go out to her and her family.

I cried when I heard this devastating news. My heart goes out to Jennifer and her family. I really hope that her fiance' is with her for the right reasons. She need all the support she can get. I am so, so sorry for her.

This is so sad. I had the opportunity to meet Jennifer the day, she unfortunately got the boot on American Idol. My friend knows the set-designer and he got us in. We all were shocked, when she was sent home, but she seemed to take it better than the audience. Very mature and humble. I remember my friend telling me on our way home how special she was and that we hadn't heard the last of her. How true! I think this tragedy is devastating. I hope she gets all the support she can get. My heart goes out to her.
