As the search for Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson’s 7-year-old nephew intensified over the weekend, many are turning a wary eye toward the boy’s mother — Jennifer’s older sister, Julia Hudson.

Julian King went missing the same day his grandmother and uncle were gunned down in their Englewood home early Friday (10/24). He hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

Questions first started to arise early Saturday morning when it appeared that Julia logged into her Myspace page to accept friend requests.

In an emotional plea Saturday for the safe return of her son, Julia King appeared well-rested and her hair was immaculately laid. Now I’m not judging Julia Hudson, but I can’t see a grieving mother sitting in a beauty salon for hours while her hair is curled and spritzed.

Add to this the fact that Julia reportedly returned home from work Friday to find the body of her mother lying on the living room floor. But Hudson is a school bus driver and Friday was a teacher work day in Chicago. Meaning, school was out for children.

Also, when she made her public plea Saturday, Hudson seemed to know that her son’s abductor was not her estranged husband. William Balfour was arrested late Friday but never charged.

Balfour was turned over to the state dept. of corrections on Sunday for violating his parole in a case unrelated to the murders. A judge could set him free as early as this week.

It’s obvious that Balfour is no longer a suspect or he would still be in police custody. Chicago police forensics technicians dusted the front door and inside the home for fingerprints and didn’t find any belonging to Balfour.

All of this is leading to speculation that Julia is somehow involved.

Jennifer Hudson has offered a $100,000 reward for the safe return of her nephew. Police are still looking for a 1994 white Chevy Suburban with license plate: X58-4859. Anyone with information is asked to call Chicago police.

I don't see anything wrong with people suspecting that Julia may have been involved, directly or indirectly. Anything is possible. Some of the things she said during the press conference were questionable.

Truly sad, but i think we all knew deep down that they werent going to find the child alive after this much time. The thing that gets me the most is things that come out now, like "we had a feeling this couldd happen" or the various violations of paroles, only serving 7 years for attempted murder, to me, attempted murder is the same fucking thing as murder, the only difference is that you did it wrong. The scarier thing is that type of crime goes on all the time, that needs to be the bigger focus, its gonna get the play because its celebrity related, but not to long ago this happend in the Bronx and a kid killed evveryone in his family, chopped them up and threw them in the river, the only reason he got caught was someone saw this kid draggging a whole bunch of garbage bags. This was also domestic related, and he had a history of violent convictions, but was out and about.

Everyone has to be questioned, if a child is murdered the parents will be first on the list to be questioned. I wouldnt even doubt that they will ask jennifer where she was and what she knew about the living situation

With the Holiday season approaching, maybe she attended work to discuss possible route changes?

The murder of her mother and sibling - along with the dissapearance of her child - couldn't have had Julia in a state of denial/shock as to not distinguish her husband as the suspect?

Yeah... its been reported that the SUV was located on the block of 1313 S. Kolin Ave. which happens to be about 1 1/2 miles way from where Balfour was living with another woman. The same home police following a lead searched yesterday for the boy.

If he didn't do it.... its not looking good for him considering wat police have said so far.

FBI Says Body Found is That of Hudson's Nephew
October 27, 2008
Link

A top FBI official said Monday that a body found in an SUV is believed to be that of Jennifer Hudson's missing 7-year-old nephew, the focus of a desperate search since the Oscar winner's mother and brother were found shot to death in their home three days earlier.

While the body has not been positively identified, FBI Deputy Director John S. Pistole said authorities believe it to be that of Julian King, who also lived in the home.

Chicago police said the body of a black male child was found shortly after 7 a.m. in the rear seat of an SUV. An autopsy was planned for Tuesday.

The SUV was found parked on the street in a neighborhood of brownstone homes and apartment buildings, and matched the one sought in an Amber Alert issued after Hudson's mother and brother were found slain Friday, police Cmdr. Wayne Gulliford said.

In Washington, Pistole said at a news conference on child exploitation that authorities found a body "who we believe to be the missing victim in Chicago, the nephew of Jennifer Hudson. We are working with Chicago police to get a positive identification of the victim."

Hudson had offered $100,000 Sunday for information leading to Julian's safe return. He is the son of Jennifer Hudson's sister, Julia Hudson. Telephone and e-mail messages left Monday for Hudson's publicist, who had been releasing statements on behalf of the family, were not answered.

Chicago police have characterized the killings as "domestic related" and have been questioning William Balfour, who is the estranged husband of Julia Hudson and is being held in state custody on a parole violation. Balfour is not the boy's father and has not been charged in the slayings.

Balfour, 27, was taken into custody Friday by Chicago police for questioning in the killings. On Sunday, he was transferred to the Illinois Department of Corrections "based on his active parole violation unrelated to this investigation."

Records from the Corrections Department show Balfour is on parole and spent nearly seven years in prison for attempted murder, vehicular hijacking and possessing a stolen vehicle.

Balfour's mother, Michele Balfour, has said Hudson's mother kicked Balfour out of the family home last winter. She denied her son had anything to do with the killings.

Corrections spokeswoman Januari Smith said Balfour would probably remain in state custody until the Illinois Prisoner Review Board looked at his case. She would not say where Balfour was being held, and it was unclear whether Balfour had an attorney.

Hudson, who won an Academy Award in 2007 for her role in "Dreamgirls," was in Chicago during the weekend. The medical examiner's office confirmed Hudson, 27, identified the bodies of her mother, Darnell Donerson, 57, and 29-year-old brother, Jason Hudson. The deaths were ruled homicides.

Neighbors and well-wishers brought stuffed animals and other items to a makeshift memorial outside Donerson's two-story white clapboard home as news of Monday's discovery spread.

"Everybody knows Jennifer Hudson, but I would be here even if it was little Suzy on the corner," said Tacara Juarez, 26, who doesn't know the family but lives in the neighborhood.

On Sunday, Hudson appealed to the public for help, offering the reward and asking any information be given to Chicago police.

"Jennifer and her family appreciate the enormous amount of love, support and prayers they have received while she and her family try to cope with this tragedy and continue the search for Julian," said a statement from her publicist.

What type of BS reporting is this?

Balfour is being transferred to the state police means he was and STILL IS in police custody. Holding him for Parole violation makes sure he doesn't run until they get solid evidence after forensics. They still have listed him as a 'person of interest' which is standard procedure unitl they get more evidence and can officially charge him if it comes to that.

Shoot the damned woman because she hoped some one would go too her MySpace with info on her child.

I'm critical of her getting involved with such a loser in the first place whether he did it or not. But suggesting she had something to do with her own son, mother and brother's deaths is asinine.

Body Confirmed To Be Hudson's Nephew
October 27

The body found inside an SUV Monday morning has been confirmed to be Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson's 7-year-old nephew, a top FBI official said.

The medical examiner positively identified the body found in the Chevrolet Suburban as Julian King, Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis said Monday afternoon.

Police are collecting evidence from the Suburban and reviewing surveillance tapes from all over the city as the investigation continues, Weis told reporters.

"There's a lot of work to be done. We'll be sure we go through this thoroughly," he said.

Asked about possible motives, Weis said, "We don't know what the motive really was at this time. But, clearly you have people who do know each other, so it wasn't a case of a stranger-type homicide."

Earlier Monday Deputy Chief Cmdr. Wayne Gulliford said police had responding to "a call about a suspicious auto" in the west side of Chicago at approximately 7 a.m. when they found the body inside a parked white Chevy Suburban, which had a license plate matching the description in the child's Amber Alert.

He had no details on the body, pending the medical examiner's report.

Julian has been missing since Hudson's mother and brother were found dead in their home Friday. Watch the police news conference »

Over the weekend, Hudson offered a $100,000 reward for the safe return of her nephew.

"Please keep praying for our family and that we get Julian King back home safely," Hudson said in a posting on her MySpace page Sunday. "If anyone has any information about his whereabouts please contact the authorities immediately."

Hudson also posted two pictures of her nephew wearing the brown-and-orange striped polo shirt he was wearing when he was last seen.

Earlier, Hudson viewed the bodies of her mother, Darnell Donerson, and brother, Jason Hudson, the Cook County medical examiner's office told CNN on Sunday. They were found shot to death Friday in their South Side Chicago home.

This story makes me sick to my stomach. How and why would anyone want to do that to people, especially to a little boy? What did he do to deserve getting killed in cold blood like that? People are so sick and twisted these days. My prayers go out to Jennifer Hudson and her family during this devastating time. pray rose

They are reporting that people in the neighborhood are saying that the SUV was not there until today.

If that's true and the person of interest is locked up, who drove the vehicle to the location? confused

To be fair... white SUVs are far from rare and this is Chicago third biggest city in the U.S.. so imagine how many whiter SUVs there are... and then it was the week end too. The reports say that it was indeed reported Saturday... but likely while police where getting calls like crazy about every white SUV in the metro area. They acted on this call because the elderly couple had confirmation positive of the license number.

I heard the same thing. Damn...they had the license # since Friday. I had it written on a piece of paper in my purse, just in case. If his new girlfriend gave him a false alibi, and the SUV was parked only two blocks from her house....hmmm

I live in the Chi area... Chi born and bread for life. I know that Weat side area well. The distance is closer to 1.5 - 2 miles away... definitely not more. .They got 2.5 because Google maps will give you a total driving or 'walking' distance vs. a straight line.

I'll describe the neighborhood as ghetto as all hell with spots of near desolate areas. And as I said else where... white SUV's are common.. and it was the weekend.. Its not like people hadn't been reporting dozens or possibly hundreds of sightings all weekend. With people going to work Monday morning, however... it was a bit easier to spot the SUV and match the plate number to the one that didn't move.

I can understand the police getting numerous calls of SUVs, but how many with matching plates were they getting? Not that it matters. I'm sure that truck was there ever since Friday and Julian was already gone. It looks like it was a residential area. That man wasn't walking his dog everyday??? I'm just sayin'

OH yeah... when I discoverss where the SUV was parked... I immediatelty said it looked real bad for him due to the proximaty of where he was found.. ie the girlfriends house.

The SUV may have been parked there since Friday... and yes it is a residential area. But like I mentioned... it was parked on a sparsely populated side street in a not so good area. So its not a spot a lot of people would be around in the first place... and then with the cool and wet weather over the weekend... you can say the number of people about were even less.

The man said he saw the SUV Saturday... but understandably being that he was on the West side and the crime happened on the South side... he didn't think any thing of it. Also the license plate number wasn't an easy one to recall. And while people were alerted to what was going on... normal people are not detectives and trying to spot and read the plate number of every SUV they see isn't a fair critique of people in general....and there are a lot of white SUVs like they were looking for. His suspicion wasn't raised until he saw the SUV still parked on Sunday... he then had his wife write down the plate number. Thats when he checked the number for the match.

Some repeorts say that a other calls may have come in prior... but like I said... the number wasn't easy to note and with out a psotive confiramation there would have been no need to act any quicker on a particular spotting.

I'm just glad they found it and such as fast as they did because these type of things often linger on for weeks if they are ever resolved.
