Well, to be honest with you, I'd have just as much a problem with Usher inducting The O'Jays as I do with Justin. They're relative nobodies compared to them, and someone with much more "tenure" and clout should be inducting these great artists. Same goes for Prince, and I'm a HUGE fan of OutKast too. But they, along with Alicia Keys (no matter how good the speech was), had no business inducting "the man"!! I would've rather seen someone like Sananda or George Clinton do the honors.

What some of these dumbasses don't seem to get is the upset about Justin has nothing to do with his race, but the fact he is someone with only one album and most likely didn't know shit about the O'Jays. He probably knew a couple of their songs, but I doubt he can recite which songs are from which albums at the drop of a hat. On the race issue, I don't think there would have been a problem if it was Teena Marie or even Jon B. inducting them. Also, Justin is just fake and scandalous and on top of that, white. I think him being white may have added a little fuel to the fire for some people, not particularly the O'Jays. It was not the sole reason there was the upset over this. He hasn't put enough time in at work. If you retire from the Post Office and the company gives you a farewell party, do you really want the newbie who has only been there a year giving the toast on how wonderful you work was? What the fuck would they really now about your 40 hard years there??

I love your Post Office employee analogy. It says exactly what we and The O'Jays have been saying all of this time (with no racial disrespect to Justin intended). Well put.

As far as I can tell, he didn't take ANY hit for that, and the reason for it is obvious. Both were participants, yet one was assigned outcast status.

For as much as this has been discussed in the news and whatnot I have yet to hear Janet actually admit that it was a part of the show. But, what I have heard is a lot of non stop "white-boy" this and "ghetto pass" that which to me is really not the point. However, I am willing to have someone...anyone try to convince me why he should be blamed for what she chose to wear.

Oh, jeez. That wasn't my point. Nevermind.
